[ the feed clicks on with an abrupt vision of peggy carter, sitting (once more) on the starstruck's bridge. today, however, she's without the casual accouterments of tea or mug or whatever what might suggest her address is anything but business-like. ]

Have we got anyone amidst our number who might be considered to be considered a de-facto expert on these...implants of ours? [ ... ] I've got questions to ask. And I've heard tell of at least one person attempting to remove theirs. If it's an undertaking that anyone else has pursued, I wouldn't mind a little chat.

[ -- she puffs her cheeks and (upon a moment's consideration) adds a disclaimer: ] I have heard about how fruitless and frankly painful the attempt likely is -- rest assured, I'm not pining for any sort of elective surgery. [ not yet, at least. ]

For the time being, let's call it a mere preliminary investigation.

[ and one she doesn't like talking about over the damned network -- but if others are right, it's not as though they have much privacy off the broadcasts, either. she'll make her first fresh inroads in this fashion, and return her work to the shadows when required. ]

[ she speaks like someone who wants to add more, but who also knows how to be judicious and sparing in her opinions. ]

[ Sensing an end to this particular line, Nyssa switches, ]

Peggy Carter. [ the name 'nyssa al ghul' is filed away, kept carefully for future reference. ] And I reckon it's been nearly three months for myself. A little under, perhaps.

[ she lies -- lightly, that's all. because peggy knows the exact number but dislikes the appearance it gives when she recites it by rote. ]

In this time, what have you learnt?

[ The tone isn't a command, but carries an expectation. ]

A great deal. [ her smile is apologetic. ] But little, I'm afraid, that could be of help to anyone. Barring myself, of course.

[ the nature of her arrival had been jarring -- she'd learned of a whole damned future ahead of her, and of a split timeline. until today, most of her energy has been spent on understanding that anomaly, and not this one. ]

[ Curious. Nyssa doesn't push, however. ]

I am unfortunately in the same position. At least no one here has turned on the others yet.

Not yet. [ she likes how the woman is so precise in that word-choice. she appreciates it. ] So far it seems that captivity makes for odd alliances and strange bedfellows.

[ ... ] From a purely proverbial stand-point, that is.

It would be foolish to draw steel against each other when our common enemy is clear. Perhaps we are all simply pragmatic.

What are the odds, I wonder? Of a strange alien fleet shanghaiing only pragmatists. Astronomical, I think.

Very.

It is more likely the population is simply unwilling — for whichever reason — to consider that end.

Yet I won't discount the possibility. I doubt our hosts only ever invite the good-hearted and the practical-minded.

Doubtful.

[ Her mouth curls in an audible smirk. ]

I will keep looking for a way to remove the implant safely. There is little point if we try and the attempt results in death or worse.

And I wouldn't mind chatting more about the possibility. Perhaps over tea?

[ friendly enough. in truth, peggy just wants to get off the damned network. ]
