[ the feed clicks on with an abrupt vision of peggy carter, sitting (once more) on the starstruck's bridge. today, however, she's without the casual accouterments of tea or mug or whatever what might suggest her address is anything but business-like. ]

Have we got anyone amidst our number who might be considered to be considered a de-facto expert on these...implants of ours? [ ... ] I've got questions to ask. And I've heard tell of at least one person attempting to remove theirs. If it's an undertaking that anyone else has pursued, I wouldn't mind a little chat.

[ -- she puffs her cheeks and (upon a moment's consideration) adds a disclaimer: ] I have heard about how fruitless and frankly painful the attempt likely is -- rest assured, I'm not pining for any sort of elective surgery. [ not yet, at least. ]

For the time being, let's call it a mere preliminary investigation.

[ and one she doesn't like talking about over the damned network -- but if others are right, it's not as though they have much privacy off the broadcasts, either. she'll make her first fresh inroads in this fashion, and return her work to the shadows when required. ]

Certainly. Intelligence, when hoarded, is hardly helpful.

[Wanda nods, giving Peggy a small smile.]

Can I ask, what made you suddenly so interested in our augments?

[mucked]

Just because I've only asked about it so suddenly -- doesn't mean the interest itself is sudden. [ a slow smile. ] But then again, that doesn't answer your question. Not truly.

[ ... ] They're a means of control. And they're wrong. We have an obligation to ourselves to at least consider removing them.

[Wanda's expression becomes a little more serious, she understands the importance of what Peggy is talking about.]

You are not wrong. We know so little about them, and what Atroma is capable of using them for.

[She's quiet for a moment as she recalls what happened to her not too long ago. The headaches, the nightmares... When she looks at Peggy next, her eyes are full of concern for her shipmate.]

Be careful though.

[mucked]

Absolutely. [ she answers with a firm voice -- wanting to provide wanda with at least a silver of comfort on this front. ] I'll do my utmost.

It is unclear how these augments work exactly. But I have experienced what they are capable of myself...

It was not pleasant.

[She does not mean to scare or intimidate. Merely to caution her friend, and make her aware of the potential risks she faces.]

Do you remember hearing any screaming or loud banging on this ship about two months back? It was not long after we flew through that nebula trying to avoid some hostile spacecraft.

[mucked]

...I thought it had been my imagination.

[ -- screaming and banging. war-sounds. the sort that invaded sleep and came to mind during the day. memories. ]

It wasn't.

[A pause. Wanda lets out a sigh, crossing her arms over her chest.]

It was me. The augment... something happened to it... I think... it made my powers go haywire, and... well, it was painful.

[mucked]

Your...powers. [ self-evident as they were, she hasn't really asked about them before now. ] Are they usually sensitive to such things?

[notmutantbutmiracle]

Such things? You mean, the nebula we flew through or... ?

[mucked]

Or anything. What causes it to trouble you so?

[notmutantbutmiracle]

[Wanda thinks for a moment.]

In this case, I believe it was the nebula that caused them to behave in the way that they did. In the past, they have reacted to my emotions. The more powerful the emotion... the stronger my powers' response.

[mucked]

Hmm. [ this, she considers. ] Can't make for much stability. I'm sorry.

[notmutantbutmiracle]

[Wanda shrugs her shoulders in response, letting out a soft sigh.]

It is nothing you need to apologize for. Typically, I have them well in control. There have only been a few times in my past when I felt them go beyond my own control due to my emotional state. This most recent time... it was something different. Something more than just my emotions that caused them to go haywire.

Do you imagine it was purposeful? Something the Atroma had planned?

The augment glitch? I am not so certain. It happened not long after we flew through that nebula to escape those enemy, alien craft. It was around the same time the ships themselves were experiencing their own issues. Perhaps, it was just a product of whatever was causing all of our technology to act up.

Then again, who knows how much control exactly Atroma has over anything that happens to us?

They certainly play that card rather close to their chests.

While daring to flutter all of ours in front of the whole damned galaxy, one presumes. The audacity.

It is hard when the deck is so stacked against you.

[ she laughs -- appreciating the word play. ]

Nevertheless, we will make do and mend.

[Wanda's smile gets a little bigger, glad to have made Peggy laugh. She nods her head in the affirmative. She then stands up, beginning to make her way out of the room. She stops at the door though, turning back to Peggy.]
