[Confidence. Sureness. That's what the audience wanted, wasn't it? As much as Jennifer hated playing up to them and dancing to Atroma's whistle to any degree, confidence was what was needed here, too.]

for those who haven't met me, my name is Dr. Jennifer Keller, and I'm the medical officer on the Wonderduck. Allen mentioning his blood drive reminded me... since we seem to be back on our ships for the time being and I actually have an infirmary again, I'm going to resume offering first aid lessons for anybody willing to learn. If you do have prior medical experience, all the better, but even if you have none, I can teach you.

... me, too. I wouldn't want to be anybody other than who I am now. Maybe idealism isn't always the best attitude to have, but it's what works for me.

Did you not always know you wanted to be a medical doctor?

It was a hard decision in some ways, yes. I accelerated through school, so I had to decide what I wanted to do with my life when I was fairly young, or else be left listless and directionless once I was finished with school. My parents felt like being a doctor would be a good fit for me, since I do care so much about people, but I felt like my confidence issues and shyness might get in the way.

You don't seem to lack confidence to me. And here you are, conversing with a strange man, from a strange world? How is that shy? Or have I been misunderstanding the meaning for years?

[Jennifer smiled at that.]

Well, you got me there. I'm not nearly as shy as I was when I was a little girl, too, to be fair- I've had time to develop my social skills since then. And, well, it helps that we first connected through something related to my job. I find it easier to talk to people as a doctor.

[tallasaking]

Well, it is easier to talk to people when they are whimpering from pain, yes... and that they remember you kindly is a good indicator.

Yeah... I did tend to get along pretty well with everyone on Atlantis. It's easy to make friends when you're helping someone feel better, too.

[tallasaking]

I truly do envy you your relationships, Doctor Keller. [He rubs his chin.] If I had had one half of the friendships you had ... perhaps I would not have turned out to be such a little shit.

... really? You?

[tallasaking]

Yes, me. [His lips curved up at the edges.] You do not think so.

My impressions so far haven't matched up with that, no.

Well I hope you never see me at my worst, then.

[Jennifer was quiet at that, then gave a half-shrug.]

Well, people are complex creatures. So I wouldn't be so sure of that.

Why, do you think seeing me at my worse is going to make you understand me more?

Maybe- after all, I know I haven't seen the complete picture yet.

Well, I shall be happy to give you more opportunities to get to the complete picture of course.

No doubt we'll see more of each other in time, hmm?

[He tipped a slight bow to her, his mis-matched eyes flashing.]

Well, at least know that you're always welcome to say hello. Or, if you get into any fights or anything, come here for a bandage. [That was said with a wink.]

I shall desperately try to avoid anything that shall require a bandage. [Yes, now she's going to get a rakish smile.] Unless of course it means I spend more time with you -- and then I might injure myself on purpose.

Well- just be careful not to do it too often in that case. I'm well-versed in catching people who do it on purpose.

Do you have that many gentlemen trying to get into your good graces that way? My, I shall have to find a different strategy.

And a few hypochondriacs- the ones who just THINK something is terribly wrong every time they feel a twinge. Or ones who overexaggerate every tiny injury, like my boyfriend tends to.
