[ Not exactly new at staking out a new location, though. It's reminiscent of the Alps, wind whipping about, the snow-covered mountain. ]

I have been in harsher places than this, but never seen beasts like those we are hunting. The locals refer to them commonly as monsters. Physically, it is not inaccurate.

This cold isn't as unforgiving, no.

Anything that can live out here will not be pleasant.

[ Understatement by a long shot, but not something that can't be taken down. ]

[ She smiles, coolly. ]

[ He just stares at her with that neutral expression. ]

[ Nyssa laughs, light and girlish. ]

[ His expression softens at the edges. ]

[ She smiles again, and they fall silent, on the route. None of their feet make noise, and they choose one of the larger beasts to bring down. There's time enough for a short rest, and Nyssa tells him they don't see so well at night. ]

[ As they're making camp, ]

We will split the spoils equally, unless you have a different proposal.

[ It's a pleasant enough trek. Hell, it's almost relaxing. There's a pent-up anticipation, but mainly it's waiting for the beast. ]
