[ His first moments of waking up are pretty typical; groggy mumbling, hands and arms flapping around and a jerk that brings him upright then standing. Something... feels wrong. ]

Wha- Where am I?

[ His hands goes to his belt, only to grasp at air. It's alright, don't panic. It's not the first time he lost his lightsaber, not the first time he's gotten a concussion with the foggy space in his memory either. He checks his right arm, gripping it along the junction where durasteel meets flesh while he takes in his surroundings.

He scowls at the video feed that looks particularly turned on. But he doesn't care about that now. His arm is brought close to his face, and his own Jedi commlink beeps. ]

Obi-Wan? [ Nothing. ] Artoo, come in. [ More nothing. ] This is Anakin Skywalker, requesting emergency-- [ An odd electrical sound and click later, he sighs. ]

Great. I better not have to ask Obi-Wan to pick me up.

[ The same arm reaches out towards the ship's communicator and it flies to into his fist. Now, the feed points away from him and through his point of view as he scans the Hospitality deck. ]

What is ... this ship? [ The communicator shuffles. ] Where is this transmitting to?

It's called the Marsiva, and you're broadcasting to the entire fleet.

[ He sighs heavily. Because a name doesn't do anything, it's just a name. ]

Oh, that's great. Now I know the name of the ship where I'm being held hostage.

[ He pinches the bridge of his nose ] Sorry, this isn't the best situation to be in. Do you know what sector is this?

[ zuko's first reaction is to be snippish and say well dude you asked but he... was the same, once upon a time, SO. a little understanding goes a long way. ]

[ flatly ]

You've been brought here by some kind of force called Atroma. You can't leave voluntarily -- and the Marsiva is where everyone starts, which is why I said it.

You'll be put on a new ship soon -- a week, at the latest. You might as well get comfortable while you can.

[ He squints. ]

What's the point of getting comfortable if we're just going to have to jump ship in a week.

[ A shake of his head dismisses that ] Never mind- I'm guessing we don't get a say to which ship we want. Is anything done voluntarily?

You don't get a choice initially, but you can transfer to a ship that you want to be on.

[ pause ]

And this conversation is voluntary, isn't it? It doesn't feel like it, but it could be worse.

[ zuko has worldhopped before and it can really suck bruh stop being such a debbie downer ]

So I have a choice in a ship. What do we get to do on the ship?

[ He pinches the bridge of his nose again. Because that's just him. He wants to poke the bantha with a glitterstim injector until everything is just chaos. Though he asks without much sarcasm this time because the moment he thought it, the very possibility of it became a bit more real. ]

It could be worse. Do I want to ask how can it be worse?

Probably not.

[ adstringendum was a proper hellhole on most occasions. as much as zuko misses it, the fleet is a lot calmer by comparison. ]

Have you figured out what your augment is, yet? Or your job? What you do on the ship depends on that.

[ zuko is the ship's therapist

Pilot. I was a pilot back home, anyway. I don't care for that.

[ He loves piloting, but he meant something else: ]

Are we on a mission? Do we have obstacles they want us to tackle? [ And lastly, dryly: ] Or are we really just floating around and waiting for pirates to board us?

We're trapped on a Fleet as a part of a reality television show.

[ judging from zuko's tone, he believes it is as stupid as it sounds. ]

We land on planets every so often, and sometimes weird stuff happens -- but this is a pretty normal stop. No pirates yet.

[ he answers that totally seriously ]

But some of the members of the Fleet might be pirates, if you really want to make yourself feel productive.

[ It does sound stupid. He can't even fathom such an idea. ]

I know that. I was hoping it was all a joke. That... can't all this is for. It doesn't add up. We must be smuggling something along.

[ His fingers itch to dismantle some parts until the talk of pirates among the Fleet comes up. ]

Yeah, because beating up another crew member sounds exactly like something they'd want to watch. [ Well. He'd watch it probably. ] If you got a problem, why haven't you taken care of it?

[ oh boy. ]

I come from a world where none of this technology is even thought of, let alone exists. I spent a few years in another universe before coming to this one, where none of this exists. And my augment is useless, so I'm not exactly able to steal a ship and leave -- and even if I wanted to do that, the ships can't get too far away from the Marsiva. And even if they could, who knows what kind of weaponry the rest of the Fleet has?

[ zuko has gotten slightly more patient over the years, but god damn he has no patience for loudmouth newbies no matter what ~~game~~ world he's in. ]

We're not stupid. We're stuck here because we're stuck here. If there was an easy way to leave, we probably wouldn't be having this stupid conversation.

[ IN SUMMATION: ]

Calm down and go beat up a pirate if it makes you feel better.

[ zuko: ace therapist ]

[ He raise an eyebrow. Maybe he's been too callous with his reactions to this kid on the other end of the screen. His own frustrations with his situation, being taken out of a war during a crucial point, seeing his former Padawan, doesn't help it any. It's not fair to Zuko here and it isn't the Jedi way. ]

What is your augment?

[ It doesn't mean he has to say sorry because that was rude Zuko. Rude ]

[ ... he had been expecting an argument, and instead, a legitimate question. and zuko stares for a moment, caught off guard, before rolling his eyes with a huff. ]

It doesn't matter, it's pointless.

[ literally. pointless. though zuko gets his own office which he totally just uses for a meditation room so whatever. ]

[ See, he can do it. All Jedi Master and shit. Except... He's now judging Zuko for being a freeloader and not doing his official job as a whatever because he never uses his augment. ]

That can't be right. Everyone gets one, and they all serve a purpose within a crew. What's your job on the ship?

[ Coming from an Order that has that kind of personnel in the mentors, he doesn't think it's entirely useless. Just... ineffective in their execution, maybe. But more importantly: ]

[ and a complete mismatch of character, considering zuko doesn't like talking about his own problems, let alone hearing other people's. he can't fix what he doesn't understand. ]

It's not useless. If people are getting taken, you have the responsibility to assimilate them and make them comfortable in this new environment.

[ Implied: do your damn job. Right now he doesn't think Zuko is doing much of it and being used to strict military structure, you can't have a slacking crew. ]

Are there really pirates among the crew?

[ zuko has met someone who is even more of a stick in the mud than he is.

this, oddly, makes him feel better. and so he completely ignores anakin's inspirational speech to answer his question. ]

Who knows -- probably. Everyone comes from different backgrounds and universes, so the odds are there are a few pirates and criminals.

Your definition of wrong sounds a bit loose. For a personnel officer.

That's because 'wrong' stretches over a lot of different things. There's a big difference between killing someone and stealing something.

Everybody has their own stories on their own worlds, and some people decide to take these opportunities as fresh starts. So long as people behave themselves here, then leave them alone. If they don't, then they're asking for it. It's a pretty simple concept.

As long as someone feels like they're being wrong, that's a good enough cause for me to investigate. I'd want to intervene but it might not make sense if it was, say on another ship.
