[Anybody who ran into Castle planetside before December 23rd could find him doing a few things- browsing the local wares, exploring the salt mines, and going in and out of hunting and camping gear stores.

He was looking for something- and finally he found it, dragging a lengthy pole back to the Windrose and proudly setting it up in the cargo bay.

Once it was done, his cheery windblown face could be seen giving a thumbs-up to the camera.]

It is, isn't it? When you think about how much progress has been made in 60 years. Heck, even within my lifetime.

Not all of it good, of course. But some of it -- [ a small smile. ] Some of it's incredible.

Yeah. Being able to better understand and explore our world, and making things easier for people to live their lives, and reaching out past the world into the cosmos... it's pretty awesome.

At least, it's incredibly up until the point where it allows for wholly inappropriate entertainment programmes like -- like this one.

Yeah, I can't argue with that. We do have reality television in my time, but all the participants are willingly there and are allowed to leave if they choose.

A hair's breadth above us and our circumstances.

Mmhmm. If nothing else, they at least know who their audience is, too. Who knows who's watching US?

Bored people, I suspect. We can't be that interesting.

I've heard some people speculate that this is all an elaborate sham, too. That there is no audience. I can't decide if that's a good theory or not.

Then we must ask ourselves, Mister Castle -- what do they gain from such a lie?

Yeah- that's the reason I can't totally accept the "no audience" theory, because I cannot for the life of me figure out why they'd go to all this trouble. Kidnapping us, setting us up on ships, sending gifts, letters from our alleged fans, having representatives talk to us... it's a lot of effort to go through.

Not personally, but Atroma will read them out over the network every now and then. Of course, Atroma's been really quiet lately.

Charming. Although radio silence is somewhat suspicious.

It is, but it's not unusual, from what I've heard from people who have been here for a while. They're fine leaving us to our own devices.

So long as we colour within the lines in their absence.

Yeah... and as the Marsiva proved, they'll take the reins back in a heartbeat when things don't go according to plan.
