Deck the Halls (does not mean punch them)

Who: Rogue, Remy, those invited who decided to attend, and they’re probably not rude enough to turn down any passerbys who happen to come by and wish to attend
Broadcast: Nope
Action: In an out of the way room with a few smallish windows on the Iskaulit
When: December 23rd, 5ish-8ish

It was beginning to look a lot like Christmas, or it would have been if they were on an Earth calendar. For their celebration and memory-making, Rogue had selected a middle sized room on the edge with two small windows by which an occasional view of the ice planet below could be seen. There would be very few who would be tempted to steal such a familiar view, however, since Rogue had enlisted Loki’s aid in making Christmas decorations and he provided illusions with alacrity and skill.

Lights are strung about the room, housed in brightly colored glass balls. While at first they simply seem to be glowing ornaments, there is something odd about the flames. A close look will reveal they do not dance formlessly, but rather have the shape of tiny dragons. There are bright, evergreen wreaths with red bows, hung strategically about the place which are actually eternal knots, impossible to solve. In the corner immediately spotted upon entering is an illusion of a gorgeous Christmas tree, with decorations all in gold and sparkling lights at the end of each branch - even the smell of evergreen is mimicked flawlessly. Flanking the tree are two tables, one laden in all kinds of food that Rogue and Remy have cooked up, the other with the label ‘White Elephant presents here.’ Loki has also helped Rogue hook up her music to some sort of an audible projection, and she is initially going to be streaming traditional Christmas Carols done by such greats as Ella Fitzgerald, Norah Jones, and the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

There are a few comfortable chairs set up along the opposite side of the room as the Christmas tree (just a few, as comfortable chairs are not that easy to find), by an illusion of falling silver leaves that provide a glow of soft light in the area.

The center of the room is free for dancing, or games, or standing about and talking. Remy and Rogue have done their best to make delicious finger foods, appetizers and heartier party fare. There’s delicacies that can be found sourced from the planet, various salted fruits, a small platter of apple slices with a caramel dip, and heartier fare in the way of stews and pastas, the sort of thing that could be put in a cup and eaten standing up. There are desserts as well, spice cookies and peppermint bark and a far too tiny chocolate cake. There is punch - ice strawberry - and Natasha’s gift of vodka, kept carefully separate from the punch, and there’s some leftover wine Loki had magically made more potent for the solstice that Rogue stole in case any of those with suped up metabolisms wanted the pleasure of getting buzzed.

Notably, there is no depiction of mistletoe.

Now that, Doctor, be a very healthy way of thinkin'. Self confidence goes a long way. Maybe a bit too long a way in my case, but for the most, it does a person good.

'nd for what it counts, I think ya a mighty fine femme 'nd more than 'nterestin' 'nough to have around. Have ya on my side, let alone ship, 'nyday.

[And that definitely made her blush.]

Well, that's very kind of you to say. Thank you. I do try my best to be self-confident, but I'm always afraid of coming off like a braggart. That and I'm naturally a quiet person at the best of times.

[While not his intention, Remy will enjoy getting that reaction from her. He can't help it, flirting was in his nature but for the most he had reigned it in with his shipmates. No reason to create tension with people you were living with, that just lead to bad situations...

Although, it was very tempting to keep going if she was going to blush like that.]
Ah, now that never stopped me, 'nd ya never know, one day I might be as good as I say I am. [Before Remy dropped his joking tone.] Ya be who ya be, chere, no one should have a say on changin' ya but ya. If ya happy, then who cares what others think?

I hope to have that good of an influence on everyone I meet. [She grinned, but then went back to serious, too.] I am happy with myself, so... you're right, why try to change that? Sometimes I wish I were more outgoing, but wishing doesn't do anything to change who I am, either. I always try to improve myself, but being quiet isn't my worst trait by far.

[Reaching out his free hand to take hold of her upper arm and give it a bit of a squeeze, he dropped it again as he smiled over to her.] Now that is absolutely possible. Tell ya what, next planet or... whatever gets thrown up in between for us, we can sort out something that sounds fun but also ain't goin' beyond who ya be, hein? See if my outgoin'ness rubs off on ya a bit.

Although, hopin' it ain't 'nother ice planet. 've already had to put up with the wildlife here too many times for my likin', so maybe something a bit less life threatenin'.

I'd like that... thank you for offering. I'm a lot better at being outgoing once I've got a group of people I'm comfortable with, too... like my friends back home. They accepted me as one of their group and treated me as such, so I felt a lot more open around them.

[She nodded.]

Still holding out for a buffet planet, myself. Just one endless buffet of every food you can dream of. The cold doesn't bother me too much, since I grew up in the boonies of Wisconsin, but the wildlife is a bit much.

[Remy let out a laugh at that comment, remembering it being a topic of one of their first conversations after he had joined the WD.] Only if they have a take out option, or we gotta get clothin' with lots of pockets in them. 'nd, extra natural heatin' or not, 'm still a Southern boy, the cold don't work well with me.

Yeah, not everyone adapts well to the cold. And as a doctor, I dislike it because of the injuries and sickness that come along with it- colds, flu, broken bones from slipping...

Yeahh, done that before, the slippin' part. Cracked m' elbow, wasn't fun. Couldn't cast it, just had to put up with it 'til it healed. [To make it worse it was done on a job with his father. He didn't hear the end of it for months.]

So I vote to leave the cold behind next time 'round, this was a decent 'nough dose for 'while.
