[ Guess who's single better from his cold and ready to mingle? Hans has been cooped up in his room for too long, and the new crew members are little more than an excuse for him to go about the ship and remind everyone how much they missed his presence while he was down with the flu!

Aside from general meeting and greeting, Hans can be found in the kitchen, searching somewhat haplessly through the cupboards for something - anything - that isn't food paste, blech. ]

I'm almost tempted to switch augments just for the kitchen upgrades... [ No seriously this peasant food of the future is going to kill him. ]

[It's almost magic, how Allen always seems to know when someone's in the kitchen. It's like he has super hearing just for those cupboard doors. Or maybe he was just passing through- who knows. But he'll be in the doorway, looking amused]

Don't say that too loudly if you're not serious, Sokka might fill out the paperwork for you.

[As if answering a call from above, there's a soft shhhhhht sound as a clipboard slides across the floor and comes to a stop at Hans' feet. It's the paperwork for an augment switch to cook, all written out and ready. It just needs Hans' signature.

Sokka peers around the door and offers a wide grin and a double thumbs up before walking away.

[ ...Dear god what has he done.

He stoops to pick up the clipboard, a weary grin aimed at Allen. Him, on the level of a kitchen servant? The fact that he's actually considering it is ludicrous. He's more distraught about this food situation than he thought.

Tucking the clipboard under his arm: ] Well, it's certainly no secret what our captain's feelings are on the matter. I'd make a terrible cook, though. I've no experience in the kitchen, you see.

[He raises an eyebrow as he sees Sokka just POP up like that. But really when you've been working directly under the guy for over a year...it's hard to get that shocked by his weird antics]

Ah, that's understandable- you don't strike me as much of the cook. [Too gentlemanly and fancy walk. Upper class, probably] Don't worry about it too much, Sokka has those forms filled out for everyone, just in case.

[ If he can't bring himself to take up the lowly mantle of a cook - and what does it say about how desperate he is if he does - maybe he can use his persuasive skills to convince someone else to.

But we have more room on the ship, so maybe we'll find a cook eventually.

I'm a little envious, I'll admit. I'm an only child, so I don't really have anything like a sibling bond. [Sure, he had friends he'd consider close enough to be siblings, but....it wasn't QUITE the same, and he knew it.]

[ Hm. Hans has often wondered what it'd be like to be an only child: wondered and dreamed and longed for it to be so. ]

I can only imagine what that would be like. Did I tell you I'm the youngest of thirteen sons to my parents?

[ Affection is the way you show affection, he thinks to himself. But Allen was an only child, so it was possible he just didn't understand, he reasons. ]

Ah, I can imagine it would be a reprieve. We would have to buy a lot of crew capacity upgrades if they came.

Quite so. They'd be better served taking an entire ship for themselves.
