[Allen had been focused on the fox, so he only heard the interactions with the cats as background noise. But he'll look up when Beverly addresses him, smiling at her]

Mm! He followed me here. I think it's because I was hauling meat.

[Slay has succeeded in his quest and is now perched on Beverly's shoulder, staring down at the fox, though she keeps a firm hand on him, ready to grab his scruff if need be.]

Poor thing. It's not easy, finding food on a planet like this.

He tries to make a break for it but Beverly's too quick for him. She sighs.]

Sorry about that. They're acting even weirder than usual lately. [She looks at the very satisfied looking fox.] At least he's not too bothered by it.

I think they're just very put out with me in general... for being gone so long.

I wish we could explain to animals why we have to leave them sometimes.

If they understand concepts like that, I think they'd be too intelligent to be pets.

Better. Not perfect but... I'm not angry anymore about what happened. So that's something.

[There's still the issue of those deaths keeping her awake at night sometimes but she knows from experience that sort of thing can't be solved in a month.]

[Truth is, she's a little embarrassed by her actions earlier. Even though she knows no one is upset with her because of it and that it was an understandable enough reaction, she hates losing control of her emotions like that, and it's a rare thing when she does.]

Bran's siblings are on the ship now. I'm not sure if you've met them yet...?

Not yet, no. I wanted to give them some space, let them reunite with one another before getting overwhelmed by a bunch of new faces. I plan on meeting them later today maybe, once they have a chance to settle in a bit.

No doubt - time travel is enough of a pain in the ass on its own, but when you throw in travel between universes as well... it’s another reason why I wanted to give them time with Bran. The transition is much easier if there is someone you know and trust there to help you.
