[ Hans has been eager to meet the ship's new transfers, hearing one of them was a lady - ladies are so much easier to charm than men. When he spots her heading into the kitchen, he slows his approach and enters casually a few moments later, like he's there for the exact same purpose she is. ]

Milady. [ A polite bow. ] Welcome aboard the Blue Fish.

[ a man with manners! it gives her pause. with her cup halfway to her lips, she seems to freeze in place. what an absurd moment for courtly address, and yet it's more like a balm than a thorn in her side. smoothly, she sets her tea aside and dips into an easy curtsy. ]

You have all been so welcoming. So generous. [ she aims to ingratiate herself with the members of bran's crew. ] You have no idea what difference it's made to myself and my brothers.

[ After a lot of the cheek that his manners have earned him, it's nice, for once, to see it properly returned. ] We were happy to do so. After all, family is the most important thing in the world, isn't it?

[ Her guess is on the mark, though he's stopped introducing himself as a prince. The title made some people uncomfortable, he'd found - and it came with questions that he didn't much care to answer. ]

The pleasure is all mine. How long have you been in the fleet, Sansa?

Not long. [ she deals in vague answers; they are easier. ] Some moons, I think, although there are no fixed moons by which to measure.

[admirably]

That's a fair bit of time, then. [ About as much time as himself, then, if he had to guess. ] I'm only sorry we weren't able to reunite you with your brother sooner.

[steeledskin]

Nonsense. The Blue Fish and her crew have already gone far and above their call to duty. You have all been so kind to us -- making room, and spending your resources on strangers. Such kindness is not common in the Seven Kingdoms.

Isn't it? I'm sorry to hear that. [ But he won't pry - if she was from an unhappy background, the last thing she would want to answer are prying questions. ] I'm glad, at least, we're able to provide you some of that kindness.

[ in westeros, blood reigns. they look after their families -- protect kin, perhaps, above all else. and kindness from outside sources must always be suspect. at least that is how it works in the higher echelons and among the great houses. sansa doesn't know what it's like with others. she barely remembers the smallfolk, sometimes. ]

About two months, though if you asked me how much time it felt like, it would be much shorter. I've rarely had more pleasant company in my life.

[ A throwaway comment, to show his affection for his crew - though he realizes, a moment after he says it, it's true. ]

Everyone is quite pleasant -- [ she ventures. half-agreeing, half-acquiescing. ] For the most part.

[ A piqued brow. ] For the most part? [ It's a question gently-asked - he doesn't want to sound pushy, but leave the opportunity open if she wanted to speak on the matter further. ]

Clearly, there are ways and customs shared here that are kin to nothing in the lands where I live.

[ she chalks it up to culture shock, unwilling to name who she doesn't like. ]
