i start it up, turn it over like a general MINGLE
Who: Crew of the Caprine and party crashers!!
Broadcast: None.
Action: Caprine unless otherwise noted!
When: All of January!
[IT'S A NEW YEAR. Which means that your captain is ready to drag you into more hideous shenanigans. Strap the fuck in, Capriners . . .]

first week!
Early in the week he can be found sitting in some corner, prodding at one of his arms and then in turn, scowling at it. He's not a doctor, he's not an engineer. He uses all of his ability to fight; putting himself back together isn't his job. It's just a small thing, and it's not necessary—he can fight without it—but it's bothering him. Just in case, he needs to fix it.
Later in the week finds Genos looking around the ship fairly thoroughly. He's not going into anyone's private things, but he's definitely looking for something with a determined face. ]

When she spots him, though, she makes a beeline for him, considerably happier and a lot more cheerful than she'd been on that first day, and now clad in a clean fleet-issue jumpsuit rather than her work dress from home.]
Oh, hi! I didn't know you were on the Caprine, too — mm, is something the matter with your arm? It looks like it's bothering you...

He gives her a nod of greeting before responding. ]
I was assigned here. Are you here for someone? [ Oh, but she asked him something. He flexes his arm, his fingers moving slowly... until he gets to the last two, both of which lag a little before moving. ] There's something blocking the circuitry, but I'm not skilled enough to fix it.

[Jojo being the aforementioned pilot, which would be evident from the way her face lights up even if the pet name didn't do it on its own.
Still, though, the arm movement catches her attention, and crouches down for a closer look as he puts the fingers through their motion.]
...That's really strange. Was it always like that, or did it just happen recently? When was the last time you could move it properly, do you know how it got blocked?
no subject
Recently. On the planet, I used my abilities to rescue a young girl from the snow. [ A pause. ] Do you know much about engineering?
no subject
[She reaches up absently, bringing her fingers near where her augment sits without quite touching it outright.]
If it taught me how to fix the ships and their controls, maybe I can do something about an arm...? I don't know, I just thought I wouldn't know unless I looked at it to see. Mm, and even if I don't, I know someone who says he likes to fix things like this, so maybe I can at least help you find someone who can get it working again.

Whatever you can do will likely be more than what I can. [ He flexes his mechanical parts once more. ] I don't think it's that much more complex than a space ship.
[ Or... at all like a space ship... in terms of difficulty. ]

[She moves from a crouch to just sitting down outright, making it both easier on her legs and apparent that she realizes she might be here a while. It's a strange sensation, but the augment behind her ear is evidently hard at work, because even though some conscious part of her knows that she should be left utterly baffled by the network of mechanics that is Genos's arm, she looks at it and connections simply arise in her mind like intuitions and epiphanies, and she understands without even realizing how.
Carefully, she reaches to take his arm and peers at it, digging around in her pockets for a pen so that she can poke at things without using her fingers if need be, and begins looking for the source of the blockage he'd been describing.]

Along the bottom, near his elbow, is a wire that's been twisted around a piece of metal. Genos is already scowling at it. ]
no subject
[FASCINATING. With the edge of her pen, she works slowly and methodically at trying to get that twist to free itself, taking her time to prevent any careless collateral damage to the surrounding area.]
That might be it, give me a little bit to get this free, and then we'll see if that clears up the block.
[Work work work. Tweak tweak tweak.]
...There, try moving your fingers now?
no subject
However, his fingers move as effortlessly as they used to; the first thing he does is clench them into a fist, heating up the metal of his palm with his power before loosening it. ]
It worked. You have been taught well.
no subject
[From the sound of it, she's about as surprised that it worked as anyone, and even with her awareness of how to repair technology that way, watching it work is still strange and foreign enough to be fascinating. So she watches, wide-eyed, and her face lights up with a happy grin.]
Well, I'm just happy I can help! If anything like that comes up again, just call, okay? That must feel much better now. Anytime you need it, I'll help out, I'm only a ship away!
later in the week!
Something for you? [ He raps on a section of the wall, listening carefully, and straightens content with whatever check he was doing. ] You'll wear the floor out if you keep walking back and forth on it like that.
no subject
I'm looking for paper and pens. Or something similar—I don't want to dig into anyone's personal supplies, so I've been searching the common areas.

Are you trying to write down schematics for your parts, or something? [ He can't say he wouldn't be disinterested in seeing those later. ]

Oh - my operator's an engineer. He likes to build things, and I help him visualise how the structures fit together, and what parts he needs to make it work...that kind of stuff.
You're a cyborg, though. Your master must be pretty strong if he can exceed such good parts. [ He's seen Genos around enough to know that the cybernetics are quite something. ]
no subject
My master is the strongest man in the world. [ Genos... your priorities. ] I had parts built specifically to defeat him and they were nothing in comparison to him.
no subject
Oh? Sounds cool. [ Elecman seems approving, at least. ] I can't say my operator is comparable in physical strength to someone like that, but we get along fine, so...I'm happy. [ He sounds a bit warmer. ]
no subject
Have you found your operator here yet?
no subject
[ He sighs. ] He's got everyone else to keep him out of trouble, so he should be fine.
