[Hey crew! It looks like there's some new changes that have come over the ship as well as a couple of new crewmates from the past shuffle or two! Have you been enjoying the planet, or is it too cold for you? Have you caught a nasty cold like your poor captain a few posts down, or are you a Vanquish member and are fine? Come along for a mingle, let the viewers see what you're up to! And also meet the tiniest, cutest crew member too!]

[chocolate pudding cups. that's definitely a fair tradeoff for yanking her out of her life. but that's not rogue's fault, so she follows the other girl's instructions to find a spoon and then sits herself down with her pudding cup.]

Annabeth. Thanks. Good to know they don't starve us.

[touchofrogue]

[Heh.] Nah, they give us all the protein paste ya could want.

[But she gives Annabeth a small smile.] But don't worry, you're on the only ship in the fleet with three cook augments. We manage ta make things taste almost half-decent most days.

[In fact, their kitchen is bangin'. Just one upgrade away from full, and they work wonders in there. W o n d e r s.]

Ugh! You're kidding, right?

[protein paste. it almost makes her long for the river phlegethon]

So...lots of cooks. Good to know. What else do I need to know about the Vanquish?

[touchofrogue]

Mmm. [Thoughtful sound that doubles as enjoyment of the chocolate. She debates eating Pearl or Al's portion, but it's better to save that for later. After all, for a ship with so many cooks it's kind of ironic that two of their crewmates don't... eat. At all.] Okay, one - Clay, our captain, is totally adorable. [Seriously, she has nicknamed him Captain Adorable.] He's datin' Allen over on the Blue Fish, but makes a point of bein' around for his crew where it matters most. An' he was studyin' ta be an astronaut back home, so that plus his pilot augment means we're in pretty good shape.

[As far as Rogue's concerned, the most important part about being captain is legitimately caring for the crew, and Clay does that above and beyond.]

[annabeth chows down on her pudding while rogue mulls. it's kind of hard to stay angry while she eats, truth be told, enjoying the flavor. seriously, you can't go wrong with chocolate.]

Okay. Lots of cooks, adorable captain. Was everyone on this ship dragged here too?

[she'd normally assume the captain might be one of them (whoever they are: aliens? gods? monsters? really weird people who like kidnapping teenagers into spaceships?) but talk about his life back home suggests otherwise.]

[Rogue nods, though she's assembling a mental list of what else Annabeth needs to know about the ship.]

Yeah. Some people from their home, some people from other places in between.

[An eyebrow.] Your first interdimensional kidnappin'?

[her eyebrows lift, and she's getting ready to ask about other places in between when rogue seems to beat her to the punch.]

Yeah, I'd have to say that getting kidnapped into space is definitely a first. You're saying that's not true for everyone?

[touchofrogue]

Mmm, well, space's a first for me. [Brow furrows.] Kinda.

[There was the draft on the moon and all.] But the situation's familiar enough, was taken from a village last time is all. Couple of folks came from a weird, 'soul-stealin' castle'. Someone else from a world who was dying, because its gods were at war. Seems like there's no end of crazy pocket universes run by psychos. So far, this one ain't the worst I've heard of.
