[Hey crew! It looks like there's some new changes that have come over the ship as well as a couple of new crewmates from the past shuffle or two! Have you been enjoying the planet, or is it too cold for you? Have you caught a nasty cold like your poor captain a few posts down, or are you a Vanquish member and are fine? Come along for a mingle, let the viewers see what you're up to! And also meet the tiniest, cutest crew member too!]

[Eugene's been spending more time in the ship than he would like. But the simple fact of the matter is that wearing a metal leg in the temperatures out there means just about freezing his stump off, and crutching through ice and snow isn't much better. He's out and about the markets now and then, investing in meat and other kitchen supplies, as well as anything he can scrape together for his ongoing homebrewing project. But otherwise, whenever he's not at work at the Space Bar over on the Iskaulit, he can be found puttering around the ship. Sometimes he's cooking. Sometimes he's sitting in the cargo on a luxuriously fluffy hide he'd acquired planetside for the express purpose of sitting around, journalling in his communicator. And a few times, crewmembers might find him making a good faith effort at fitness with their new weights and punching bag - despite the fact that he hasn't regularly exercised for a few years now.]

[At some point when he's in the kitchen, he might turn to discover a pair of eyes peering at him hopefully over the bench. Not actually saying anything. Just kind of. Watching. Like a hungry cat.

Resemblance not much of a coincidence, really.]

[Eugene's usual hypervigilance has taken a hit, all these months of relatively peaceful living. But old habits die hard, and the first time he turns to get something out of the cabinet and catches low-to-the-ground eyes fixed on him, he startles sharply, catching his balance on the counter as he sees who it is.]

Geez, don't sneak up on me like that.

[Haruka could explore the ship and could go meet his new crew members. But why should he when there's this cute adorable puppy just waiting to be petted? He already got a quick rundown of the situation when he first arrived, so there's no moment of panic and confusion. In fact, he's rather at peace with himself, scritching this puppy happily.

He may not be very happy that this situation is happening, but he can't change it. So might as well enjoy himself with this dog.]

[Eugene more or less lives in his bunk and the kitchen, so if nothing else, meeting there would have been inevitable. But new faces stand out enough to stall him on his way by - and new faces that are hanging around with adorable (if totally unfamiliar) little mammals doubly so.]

Wow. I don't think we've had anyone come onboard with a pet before.

[Haruka looks up and gives the other a good stare. After about thirty seconds, he determines that he's definitely never met this person before. Though that probably isn't much of a surprise.

He turns back to the lil animal.] Not mine. I ran into it.

['sup Haruka, this is definitely a suit of armor with a teenage boy's voice talking to you. He holds out a rope toy for the animal, who happily latches onto it.]

Hey- are you new here?

[Haruka hears-- metal creaking? Is the ship having some issues? Looking up-

-his eyes widen.

He stares for a good five seconds before he stands up, animal forgotten. A small pink blush blossoms across his cheeks as he stares at this giant metal mascot.] Cute...

[- Oh. That's. Definitely a new person! He blinks at first, surprised by his appearance, but then he grins and squats down to watch Haruka and Cosmos bond.]

Hey. Did you just show up?

[Haruka stares for a good five seconds. Then deems the person worthy of responding to.]

Mm. Is this yours? [He nods toward the little animal, still giving it affection.]

[Al could be found performing various chores around the ship and experimenting with his alchemy over the days before they leave... and playing with Cosmic the fox, of course.

In the cargo bay, Al could be found trying to manipulate the walls with alchemy, because he wanted to see if he could make and rearrange small temporary storage areas for food and supplies- it would be wonderful if he could make and break down things as needed. However, he was still figuring out the chemical composition of the walls, so he wasn't having much luck.

Otherwise, he could be found at the kitchen table with some paper, sketching mysterious-looking circles. Some of them were scribbled out in frustration, some had smudges from being erased, some were heavily drawn over, and others were clean.]

[At some point, Clay enters the kitchen for some much needed munchies. Al is who he sees first, then the drawings, so he comes on over with a smile as he studies them.]

Hey Al! What're you drawing? [Some of the ones that he can make out look pretty geometrically precise, like this wasn't just playing around with circle drawing.]

[Oh. OH. She knows this kind of drawing--!!

She pops up on the other side of the table out of the blue.] Are you drawing devil's traps?

['kind of' being the operative words here.]

The counsellor is in 8|

[Katie takes time to come down with a cold, but when she does she promptly ignores it, still tromping out to explore most days. Losing most of her sense of smell is a benefit on a planet that smells so hideously of salt. She comes back early on the day Max decides to pull a knife on her (jerk), and drifts around to see what various crew are doing instead.

When she finally gets too sick-- or gets loomed at by various adults-- she retreats back to the counsellor's room and vanishes into the blanket fort-maze she's made of the place (yes hello I am a professional nine year old therapist) and coughs and sneezes her way into the back corner of the room, hidden by a pile of cushions.

See, if this was a movie someone would be over to read the Princess Bride to her. Life isn't fair, man. At some point, she may recruit the tiniest, cutest crew member into curling up with her back here. Because the fox is adorable, let's face it.

The counsellor is also sick

[Thankfully, Clay's feeling okay by this point. And now one of his crewmates is down; that makes almost half of them down during this whole planet stay! Gosh.

When Clay comes into the counselor's room, he... well, first he stares at the blanket maze that is the room, then ducks under one to start making his way through it.

... Is that his blanket hanging up somewhere?]

Katie? You in here somewhere?

[Assuming Rogue got Katie's real name out of her at one point in one way or another.

Also, waiting because even nine year olds deserve some sort of privacy to be told if she should come in or not.]

[Sam's stopping by just to check in, mostly — he doesn't even expect to find her sneezy and coughy and overall just gross. He's quick to make a beeline for her room as to not be a bother, only to find — is that a fort? Of course it is. He raises his eyebrows and tries to peer into it, to locate his free-roaming little fae child.]

... Trying to build a room in a room?

[A) Listen, crew, Rogue loves you and all, but you have like a thousand other cooks. She is going to be spending most of her planet stay on a planet, thank you very much. But she'll also pop back and forth occasionally about once a day to check in and feed her fish, ASP (alternate source of protein, yes).

B) Feel free to catch her coming to and from on the shuttle, sometimes in the morning with that whole Monday walk of shame thing going. After all, she hasn't really been spending nights here since the whole Marsiva debacle. Wonder what's up with that? Feel free to ask.

C) Also, cleaning and organizing her little room. She is shopping and stocking up down on the planet and trying to find room for everything -- darn it, where is her blanket? She could have sworn...

[Aaaaand wouldn't you know it, Clay was going out to a shuttle just as Rogue was coming in! He blinks, half because he hasn't seen her in the ship for a while and half because, well, he's going out to possibly get a walk of shame himself. But after that, he gives a big smile and a wave of greeting; he can put it off for a bit!]

she doesn't so much explore the ship as aggressively acquaint herself with her surroundings, her lips pulled into what seems to be a permanent scowl. she can be found wandering just about anywhere from the bunks to kitchens to the rec room. the last one is a favorite, because it gives her something to hit when she's frustrated. which is pretty much always, right at this moment.

if she runs into anyone there's a good chance she'll introduce herself with a friendly who are you supposed to be?, or where are we? or the even more charming hey, you're in my way.

[Al had been playing with Cosmic the fox when he heard the new-arrival fanfare and went to investigate.]

Oh, sorry! I try not to get in anyone's way, but that's difficult for me sometimes.

[Oooh, confetti and chocolate pudding. Yum. Of course, that meant someone new, so... time to basically just sit on the kitchen counter and eat the chocolate pudding, leaving the welcome wagon to someone who's friendlier and more of a people person than she is (pretty much everyone).]

[Guess who's also in the rec room? Clay's already hitting the sandbag, but when he hears footsteps, he stops what he's doing and - oh. Oh! New person! He smiles and steadies the sandbag as he greets her.]

[here's Pearl, screwdriver in hand as she tries to wrestle down a large, sparking Roomba-lookin' thing. Do you even want to know what's going on?]

[ Man, okay, this is, like, a great shot. Woman wrestling with a sparking, obviously malfunctioning machine. She obviously only wants to fix the poor thing, but it resists, unable to do anything else in its broken state. It's powerful. It sends a message. It looks cool.

So, naturally, Max snags a photo. There's a click and a flash from her camera. Her teacher did tell her "Always take the shot," after all. ]
