That was real mature of you guys all skipping out on the Huntress just because I was made captain. [Literally just inputted a request into the computer for that. Nothing more.] I hope you all enjoy your new ships, because the Huntress is going to do just fine without you.

[He is ONE HUNDRED PERCENT OKAY being ditched. He didn't even like you guys! Except he's not, because it makes him cranky and he's stuck kicking around on the Huntress trying to beat the high score on their new pinball machine. He's never played anything like it before, so he finds the experience pretty frustrating. But if anything, he's just bored and annoyed at having his 'possessions' taken away from him.]

Not very well, but considering neither of you were willing to tell me, I can't say I'm pleased with the outcome.

[ He certainly doesn't blame poor Luke. While he's not entirely sure of his position as a Master, there's an inherent goodness in him that Obi-Wan can sense. This was certainly not the boy's plan. ]

I take it you checked up on Anakin afterwards?

[Ahsoka hangs her head a little. Oh, Anakin.]

... Sorry. I really thought he would tell you. [And she did. She's telling the truth. She looks away for a moment-- poor Obi-Wan. Then she looks back, at his question.]

Of course I did. But-- you know Anakin. He doesn't like to talk.

No. . . . He certainly doesn't.

[ It almost seems like Obi-Wan is at a loss. He's done the best he could, for both of them. And yet, it seems, it always falls short. His master would have done better, would have known what to say, how to deliver in a way that it was listened to, that it meant something.

Jedi Master he has become, but a poor teacher he remains. ]

I know this is presumptuous of me to ask . . . And I imagine you'd do it without my asking, but keep an eye on him. I fear, if I were to do so, I'd simply exacerbate the problem and he needs a clear head.

Of course. You don't need to ask.

I might have left the Order, but Anakin is still my friend. ... And so are you.

[beardstrokes]

[ He smiles faintly, but it doesn't reach his eyes. Obi-Wan then takes a seat. ]

Have your tea-making skills improved, at least?

Maybe you should try it and find out.

[beardstrokes]

Oh, I'm counting on it.

[ He pulls a cup over with the Force. Flagrant, terrible use of the Force but it's been that kind of day. Week. ]

[That just makes her smile. While she watches for his reaction, it occurs to her that he looks tired.]

... Have you been planet-side yet?

[beardstrokes]

Not yet.

[ He savors the taste. It's different from what he's used to, at the Temple, but he can hardly fault Ahsoka for that. He lets the steam waft over him. ]

I have been rather busy. What is the planet like?

[resnipstance]

Cold, mostly. Buy a coat when you can. It... reminds me a bit of Carlac, if you've ever been there.

But there are some nice spots to go sledding. Some nice temples, too.

I've been to Orta Plutonia, which I imagine, is similar.

I'll leave the sledding to you and Anakin. Though, visiting temples sounds nice. I haven't done that in a long time.

I thought you might like that.

Also, the local merchants try to rip you off. I learned that one the hard way. You know one of the skills they don't teach you at the Temple is how to bargain?

[ He takes another sip. ]

I'm surprised. I've used that skill plenty of times. But I imagine Anakin had little time to pass it on.

[ Or considered it important enough to pass on. ]

[Ahsoka grumbles in good humour.]

Got ripped off when I tried to buy a speeder a few weeks after leaving you guys, too. Thing was a total piece of junk! It's lucky I'm still alive.

Well, at least you learned something from the experience.

[ He looks every bit the unflappable master now. A cup of tea helps. ]

Yeah. Never trust a used speeder salesman.

[Ahsoka takes a sip of tea herself.]

Um. While we're drinking tea and talking about things you should know, though...

[ He sighs, putting the cup aside. ]

I don't know if you were already told this or not, but...

Since the Luke Skywalker thing is already out of the bag, I figure there's no harm in checking.

... Luke ... isn't an only child. He's a twin.

[beardstrokes]

Ah. You mean Leia.

[ Bail's daughter, he keeps thinking to himself, even though that's not true. But there's so much of the man in her as well. Her diplomatic and forthright manner impressed that much in him. ]

Luke told me about her, albeit briefly. It seems though, she wasn't trained in the ways of the Force.

[resnipstance]

That's right. But... when we talked, she had no idea who I was. [When Ahsoka left the Order, she didn't mean to leave Anakin's life forever.] She said... Senator Organa was her father, in every way that counts. And she wanted to know everything I could tell her about Padmé.

I know the Masters say we aren't supposed to dwell too much on visions of the future, but-- I can't help it. Any way you slice it, it looks bad, right? Why do Anakin's children grow up without him?

[beardstrokes]

[ Obi-Wan can hazard several guesses, but none of them paint the situation in a positive light. And again, like death knells, Yoda's words come back to him, how they will lose the Clone Wars. Is that their fate? . . . Anakin's fate? ]

It does look bad. But it is not our future, simply their past. And if we have learned anything, it's that we can change the future.

I'm afraid, beyond that, I have no answers for you.

[ No answers he is willing to voice and give shape. Doubt would only lead them astray. ]

[Ahsoka takes a long drink of her tea, then, while she tries to quiet her worry.]

... Well. At least everyone seems to know you, at any rate. At least that's one less person to worry about.

[beardstrokes]

Yes, I seem to be rather popular. Even Captain Solo gave me leeway.

[ He hesitates briefly. ]

. . . And Luke is - was - my padawan.

[resnipstance]

[Ahsoka chuckles.]

Hey. That's something, isn't it?

He seems like a very capable Jedi.

[beardstrokes]

[ wryly ] He certainly does.

But I can say the same for all my padawans. They have never disappointed me.
