[ Well, this is clearly a ship, in space, but it's not the Ghost, or any other ship she might be familiar with. It also clearly isn't an Imperial Star Destroyer - if Hera had been captured by the Empire, she'd be really obviously in a prison cell, or worse. Plus, there are no stormtroopers in sight. So, probably not Empire, but probably not the rebellion, either.

Other than that, it could be just about anyone holding her. And she needs to get more information on the situation. A number of possibilities present themselves - she could keep her head down, sneak around, and see if she can eavesdrop it. Or she could play the wide-eyed innocent, and use this handy-dandy video link she seems to be equipped with (seriously, who gives a captive a comm link anyway?)

The comm could be some kind of trick or trap, but Hera trusts her own resourcefulness, so eventually, she flips it on. ]

Uh, hello? I think there might've been a misunderstanding of some sort, here. I've lost track of my ship - were we supposed to go through some kind of inspection?

Well, yes. [ She says this as if it's patently obvious. Because it is. ]

Humans come in all different colors too.

[This is so fucking neat and totally the point where Joseph pulls out the carpet square and scoots in close. Tell him stuff.]

So how many colors do...uh...whatever you are come in?

[firstrebel]

[ Wow, kid. Wow. ]

How many do humans come in?

[nextlineis]

I don't know. [Joseph shrugs.] They don't come in colors like green and blue though.

[firstrebel]

That would be because humans and twi'leks have different evolutionary trajectories.

[nextlineis]

Twileks? [Sorry, he's trying to say that right. But excuse him, he has a barrage of questions to ask you now.] Is that what you are? Where do you come from? How long have you been around humans? Do you eat the same stuff as humans?

[firstrebel]

[ Okay, so the barrage of questions gets her to relax a little - it's strange, perhaps, but not bad. They're not, by and large, uncomfortable questions. Not questions designed to put her on the defensive, not designed to make her feel unwanted or unwelcome. They strike her as just genuine curiosity, which she can appreciate.

So she smiles a little. ]

That's my species, yes. My home planet is Ryloth, and I've been familiar with humans for most of my life. And yeah, we eat the same stuff.

[It's rubbed a few people the wrong way in the past--it'd be a miracle if it hadn't--but it is genuine curiosity the fuels most of his questions. He just doesn't always think it through in terms of whether or not what he's asking could be possibly offensive or that people might have had a bad interaction/history with humans in the past that could color his questions as the bad sort of ignorant.]

[It's a tough lifestyle to lead--the open mouth, insert foot variety--but Joseph doesn't know how to be much else other than that.]

Oh. That's good. Not that the food around here is all that great, [it's actually the worst part about being here; don't get him started,] but you'd be pretty disappointed if you needed a special diet.

[A beat.]

So what's your planet like?

[firstrebel]

[ Fortunately, Hera is relatively easygoing - just don't make any quips about slavery and he'll probably be fine. ]

Yeah, I've found that out. It's not really much worse than what I'm used to on a long trip. As long as we can stop once in a while and pick up fresh food supplies.

Ryloth is mostly desert.

What about the parts that aren't desert?

[firstrebel]

I grew up in the desert part. It's dry, and hot. There's a lot of sand. Most of the water is at the poles.

Is it just your species there? Or did other species come from there, too?

[firstrebel]

We're the only sapient species native to Ryloth.

[nextlineis]

So how many other planets have you seen?

[firstrebel]

A couple dozen. More, if you include moons.

[nextlineis]

Nice! What's your favorite like then? Aside from where you come from, I mean.

[firstrebel]

Oh, I don't know. There are lots of interesting places in my galaxy. Alderaan is supposed to be one of the most beautiful planets - it certainly is impressive. But I tend to prefer the Outer Rim worlds. They might not be as pretty, they might be more dangerous, but you never know who you'll meet in a place like Lothal.

[Joseph grins because this sounds just like something out of one of his comic books.]

No risk, no reward, right?

It's where I can do the most good.

[ The Empire's hold on the Outer Rim is a little more tenuous. There's more poverty, more discontent. Easier for rebellion to find a foothold. ]

So you... [Something. Joseph realizes he doesn't have a word for it. At least not a word that's not going to sound really childish.] What do you do back where you're from?

[firstrebel]

[ She smiles faintly. ]

I fly a freighter.

Does that mean you're a pilot here, too?

[firstrebel]

I assume so. I don't know why I wouldn't be assigned a pilot position.

I'm not sure it's really all that organized about who gets what.
