[A woman wearing all black lies face up in her bunk, perfectly still, her arms straight out by her sides. It's impossible to tell if she's breathing or not, but surely she must be, right?

Watch long enough and you'll see her come alive, shooting straight up with a gasp that becomes a heart-wrenching sob. Tears stream down her face and she rocks back and forth. She's saying something over and over, but the only word that can be heard clearly is "No, no, no." This goes on for a long minute before she really seems to realize where she is.

Or rather, where she is not.]

Cordelia?!

[She scrambles out of the bed and stands in the middle of the room, calling out in her thick Louisiana accent.]

Zoe? .... Myrtle?

[She sinks back on to the bed, clutching her head in her hands, her breathing becoming increasingly labored as she tries to fight the panic.]

Shit, shit, shit. Oh God, please, help me. This ain't right at all.

[Not knowing what else to do, she assumes her prior position, closes her eyes, and starts to chant. Those from Earth might recognize it as Latin.]

Spiritu duce, in me est. [Deep breath.] Spiritu... duce. Spiritu - [Another sob and she rolls over on her side and curls into a fetal position.] No, no. I can't... I can't go back there.

[She smiles and nods.]

She's a white witch too, if that's what you're asking.

But I'm willing to listen -- and I've never heard of that before, 'white witches.' What's the difference between a white witch and a regular witch?

Well a white witch practices her magic for good, to help people and draws her power from nature and light... black magic is all sorts of unnatural, tied to the darkness.

[A small frown.]

Sometimes you can slip though. Ain't nobody who's purely good or purely evil, I don't think.

So I suppose I'd count as a 'white wizard', given that I'm not running about on Voldemort's side -- but we don't really classify anybody that isn't a dark wizard or witch as anything special. They're just wizards and witches.

It's alright... I can tell even from here you ain't a dark wizard. Those people have nasty vibes. Is Voldemort one of them?

It's not only the evil ones who got power, and they don't always seem to understand that. Black magic's just the easier way. At first anyhow.

I've never tried it, or had a taste for it.

Not easier maybe. Quicker. You make a deal, you sacrifice something, and you get power. You don't have to work at it as much. But you lose a lot more in the end.

Usually you gotta trade a life or your own soul. It's rotten and unnatural and nothing good ever comes of it in the end.

What've they done?

Both of them don't care about anyone but themselves and their own power and what it can get them - immortality, fame, I don't know what all. Madison killed me and Fiona's tried to kill all of us at some point. She'd sacrifice her own daughter to get what she wants.
