Who: Chara
Broadcast: Text
Action: Red Fish, if you dare.
When: during the day (as in not at 12:30 in the morning when I am posting this)
Just throwing an idea out here. If anyone can find medicine that actually works on these ridiculous space colds (and lets me have some), I will knit that person as many ugly sweaters as they want. I promise, astronaut's honor, or whatever they say out here.
[ Of course, those on the Red Fish also have to deal with this colossal trainwreck of an adolescent in person. More or less. They're kind of cooped up in their sweet counselor office, having created a makeshift nest of blankets and pillows (one from the bed they would normally use, the rest from the couch in said office), though they are occasionally willing to leave the office. Mostly just for food, though if anyone is in the kitchen at these times, they will get to deal with this kid kind of giving them shifty eyes the entire time.
Enjoy your meal! ]

Come in, come in, have a seat!
[She gestures towards one of the chairs, rather than the exam table, hoping that will make them feel not quite so anxious.]
I never caught your name earlier.
action
It's Chara.
[ They are taking the chance to look around at absolutely everything in here, too. ]
And...you're really sure it's okay to just give medicine away for free?
action
Absolutely.
[Even if it wasn't okay, she'd find a work around.]
Though, I will need to do a quick examination, just to make sure it's only the cold and nothing else, and to make sure I'm giving you the correct dosage. Is there anything I ought to know first? Allergies, major illness in the past, anything like that?
[It's not a full medical history, not like she would like but well... she's been here long enough to know that upsets some people who aren't used to this sort of thing. The tricorder will pick up a lot in any case.]
action
[ That's a hard question to answer. Really, the only thing they've ingested that caused trouble was poisonous in the first place... ]
I don't...really know. I mean. I've never seen a doctor before, so no one told me anything like that.
[ Trailing off a bit toward the end, fiddling with the hem of their sweater. ]
action
That's alright... we'll just take it one step at a time, okay? If you have any questions at any time, it's perfectly fine to ask.

[She picks up the tricorder from a nearby desk.]
This is what I’m going to use to scan you. It’ll record all your vital signs - blood pressure, temperature, heart rate - and will take less than a minute. If you like, I can demonstrate it on myself first?
action
Yes, please. If it's okay.
action
[She detaches a small, cylindrical scanner from the device, then turns the rest of the tricorder towards Chara so they can see the screen (which looks something like this). As Beverly runs the handheld scanner over her body, vitals will start popping up on the screen, along with such things as her approximate age (late 40s), height (5'8"), and weight (???). As she promised, it takes hardly any time at all.]
action
[ They'll likely be a bit underweight, but they're probably around the proper age for a growth spurt, so it's hardly surprising. ]
action
So, are you ready?
action
You can go ahead.
action
No surprises here, just a few typical cold symptoms. No fever, even, which is good. Though if you do find you're getting too hot or too cold over the next few days, let me know.
[And it's a good thing she checked their weight, so she can give a smaller dose. She goes to the medicine cabinet and deposits a week's worth of the Surrit medication into a small container, which she then gives to Chara.]
Take one of these pills each day after your first meal. If the cold doesn't clear up in a week, I can give you some more, but so far I haven't seen any problems with it.
action
Staring at the pills: ]
...that's it? I mean-- not all I get, but-- I don't have to do anything else?

[ Already starting towards the door... ]
--thanks again.

You're welcome. Only please let me know when you're feeling better.
[... if you don't she's only going to come find you anyway. Resistance is futile, as they say.]
