[... if they're here. Kanan is showing a rare amount of discretion by saying nothing else. His observations from other new arrivals has given him the intel he needs - it's a holodrama with secret recording devices hidden everywhere. It wasn't your run of the mill Imperial gig. So for now, he was going to avoid drawing attention to himself.

In the meantime, he's on the Marsiva exploring. Rather than stand gaping out the windows at space, he's trying to get a sense of the size of the ship he's on. Unfortunately it's not always easy going in a straight line among twisting and turning hallways and trying to hold numbers in his head is not easy. It would be a shame if he lost his count.]

Right. I can't really fault you for that.

[In this, he does not envy him. It's bad enough having this in his own past. How much worse it must be knowing it's in your future.]

I believe some fault can be allowed, for things to get to this stage.

[ Dooku did tell him point-blank that the Chancellor was evil. He simply couldn't -- wouldn't believe it. Seeing Qui-Gon's master fall had robbed him of considering them. ]

But I'm always happy to help the future. In whatever way I can.

[Well, he might ask about some tips on dealing with Sith Lords, but as it was...]

The Empire will have to wait. The Atroma are something else entirely, right?

[ Sith lords are his specialty. ]

We don't really know what they are. As far as I can tell, they're not Zygerrian or Trandoshan. None of this fits either of their patterns. It is quite possible that the Atroma are a species we have never encountered before.

It's a big galaxy and there's a lot out there that hasn't been charted yet. If I heard right, I have to wait my turn to even get off this ship.

[And then to a smaller one. And after that? He wasn't really sure.]

I believe so. Only the winner may leave, so to speak.

Hopefully we can find some loopholes.

So how do they decide the winner? Deathmatch? Sabacc tournament? Chudde eating contest?

[beardstrokes]

[ He chuckles lightly at that. ]

By popular vote, I believe. Though I would not say no to a Sabacc tournament.

[Deadpan:] Oh good. So democracy survived after all.

I don't think this is the kind of democracy you're looking for. Though, perhaps, we can use it to our advantage.

If it involves dressing up for a song and dance, you can count me out. I'm not that freelance.

If it helps, I doubt there will be much call for that. And you lack the hips for it.

Then I will try not to bring it up too often, for sensitivity's sake.

[ To Kanan, it probably seems like meaningless banter, but it already settling Obi-Wan's spirits. It is similar to talking to Anakin and it . . . helps. ]

I appreciate that. So what are the other people around here like? I've been following some of the chatter on the comm link, but a man can only take so much casual gossip.

[ That's an interesting question and one Obi-Wan has to ponder. He has spent more time meeting people from his world than the strangers. His fault, really, being somewhat overwhelmed by all this new information. ]

They're certainly a mixed breed, so putting them in categories will hardly benefit you. They seem to come from all walks of life, young, old . . . powerful, strange . . .

However, I believe we are in a minority when it comes to space travel. Many here are simply not accustomed to it, or even believed it was possible.

[So it's a fleet full of primitives shuffling about in space. Now that was a distressing idea.]

And they haven't managed to completely total their ships?

[beardstrokes]

No, the Atroma has outfitted them with augments - implants. Which is why we're still here, in one piece. They have various skills, including piloting.

[neverknight]

Augments. Wait, so that means... [Kanan takes a notice to touch the back of his neck and not for the first time.] I take it that would explain the thing on my neck. As if I needed one.

[beardstrokes]

Neither did I, but they don't take no for an answer. I'm afraid it'll have to stay until we find a safe way of removing them.

[ He's still a little cranky about being assigned as a pilot. ]

Great. Do we know what else they have inside them besides helpful spacefaring tips?

[A bomb? A tracking beacon? Something more sinister?]

I don't sense anything else in there. The Augment, at least, can be felt.

[ Thanks to Jedi training, at least. ]

[... yeah, that's what he felt too. Though he'll have to refrain from using the Force unless he wants to draw attention to himself. He'll take Obi-Wan's word for it.]

Anything else important? What about that planet down there?

I hear it is similar to the ice planets. Like Hoth or Carlacc. So my advice would be to dress warmly and not take unnecessary risks.

Or, you know, just stay on the ship. Which I assume is what you're doing.
