[ As promised, in a few days time, Ahsoka and Obi-Wan make their way to the markets. They dress warmly, Obi-Wan procuring a thick cloak for himself. It's hard to feel like a Jedi Master without one.

He watches as Ahsoka flits from stall to stall as he lingers behind her, to correct her on her "bargaining" technique. In a way, they resemble a teenager, saddled with a wiser all-knowing uncle. He strokes his beard in light amusement. This is probably what he needed right now, a reassessment of his priorities, the here and now. ]

[ he rolls his eyes, because obi-wan pls stop being a snob. ]

Knives are messy. What if you actually cut someone?

[ a pointed gesture at obi-wan's beige outfit under that cloak. imagine all the blood... ]

[ He rolls his eyes. ]

The knife is not for cutting into people, Anakin. Really now. It's for my staff and for any . . . situation that might arise.

Any situation that might arise, huh? [ He makes a stabby motion. ] Be careful with that, old man. I wouldn't want to wake up one day and find you lost your knife and threw your ship in chaos.

[ He almost groans. ]

Don't even joke about that when it could be a distinct possibility on my ship.

[ Flippantly: ]

Well, it's a good thing I'm here to save your butt. Again.

You keep saying that and I have yet to see any daring rescues happening.

Didn't you teach me something about patience?

Yes, but I've yet to see you practice it.

Well, here's another chance, Master. You can teach by example - by waiting for my daring rescue.

[ INSOLENCE!! ]

Anyway, I thought it doesn't look like we'll get to go planet-side for a while after this. You should get something more practical.

Then I will need to build up my patience - it might take a while.

[ He shrugs loosely, his cloak slipping slightly. ]

A wooden staff will do just as well as any blaster or weapon.

[ He raises a hand to stave off Anakin's protest - which will come. ]

I'll be fine with what I have. You needn't worry.

I was actually thinking maybe we should find something similar to bacta. I know there's some medical equipment on the ship but you never know.

[ completely genuine here. ]

You do tend to get injured a lot.

[ That didn't occur to him and instead of being surprised, Obi-Wan feels a surge of pride. Perhaps being away from the war will do Anakin some good. ]

That is a good idea. Finding other remedies may solve future problems.

[ He's not gonna address the "being injured a lot" thing though. ]

[ He waves his hand dismissively. ] Being mindful of the future.

And I wouldn't mind a medpack or two myself. [ He unconsciously adjust his mechanical arm. It doesn't hurt, but it does sometimes brings the memory of the hurt. ] Artoo has a whole compartment of medpacks. If he was here... Well, if he was here, we might even be able to find a way to control the ship.

I'll be sure to look around once I'm done with the temple.

[ He should have considered it early but he's horrible at thinking about things like wounds and treating them. ]

Or he might blow us all up.

[ He looks at Obi-Wan with pure disbelief at the thought of such a thing. R2 was his buddy. He saved Anakin more times than he could remember (probably because of all the concussions he has) ]

How could you say that about Artoo, Obi-Wan. He looks after you. [ He doesn't mention the number of jokes R2 has made about Obi-Wan and cross his arms. ] If he was here, his feelings would be very hurt.

Then it's a good thing he's not here right now. I'm surprised you haven't adopted another droid along the way.

[ His mouth spreads into a smirk. ]

What do you think I have in my bag?

[ Oh no. ]

I don't want to know, Anakin. I really don't.

[ He snorts at the dramatic reaction ]

Don't worry, it's not for me. No one could replace Artoo.

[ He gives Anakin a quelling look for that statement, but doesn't say anything. They've had this discussion too many times. ]

What kind of droid are you trying to build?

[ A beat ]

A ... dog?

[ He raises an eyebrow at that. ]

A dog. Why . . . a dog?

[ He shrugs ]

I talked to a girl who gave me food, so I told her I would make her a pet droid.

That's very nice of you, Anakin.

We're still here to serve, aren't we.

[ not that he can- can he count himself as a jedi still? yeah, let's not go down that road right now. ]

Go to your temple. Make sure you come back in one piece.
