[ As promised, in a few days time, Ahsoka and Obi-Wan make their way to the markets. They dress warmly, Obi-Wan procuring a thick cloak for himself. It's hard to feel like a Jedi Master without one.

He watches as Ahsoka flits from stall to stall as he lingers behind her, to correct her on her "bargaining" technique. In a way, they resemble a teenager, saddled with a wiser all-knowing uncle. He strokes his beard in light amusement. This is probably what he needed right now, a reassessment of his priorities, the here and now. ]

Well, it can be easy to misinterpret. Especially if you're a kid, I imagine. Everything is just so intense when you're a teenager.

That only really applies to those not Temple-raised. That's why we start young.

Are they all orphans, then?

No, at least not in the way you mean. They're children raised by the Jedi at an early age. We have a way of sensing Force-sensitive children.

[ She waves a hand vaguely. ]

The Force leads you to them, I assume?

[ Like how Kanan just knew Ezra was sensitive, without having to see him do anything. ]

[ He eyes her. ]

It seems to me you're comparing this knowledge of the Jedi to someone else's experiences.

What? [ Oops. She gives him her most innocent look. ] I'm just curious. I've never talked to an actual Jedi before.

[ Which is technically true! ]

And I qualify as such?

[ She's not lying, but there's definitely something more involved here. ]

[ Hmm. Lately, he hasn't been feeling like the most consummate Jedi. ]

I suppose to most, I must seem like a paragon.

Not at all. If I can pass on what I know to the future . . . then I have no reason to feel sorry for myself.

[ She makes a face. ] Even talking about the Jedi can get you arrested for sedition or treason.

I'm not surprised. The Sith have won a victory that will last for a long time. I suppose, in a way, it is balance.

An ancient order, much like the Jedi, who teach the Dark Arts. There are always two and only two Sith, unlike the Jedi.

[ Well then.

Hera thinks about some of the things Ezra's done, and Kanan's worry about him. And she thinks about the Inquisitors, and that guy all in black that had Kanan so scared. ]

You think that's what's going on, with the Empire? [ A power-mad, corrupt politician is bad enough, but actual Sith Lords? Like out of the scary stories she heard as a kid? ]

We had guessed it a while ago - that a Sith Lord was involved in the war, in the making and destruction of the events that surrounded us.

[ Is Palpatine the Sith Lord? Amazing that he could hide himself in plain sight. Even Maul or Ventress . . . Dooku could not do it. That kind of thought sends a chill down his spine. ]

[ Hera considers that for a moment. ]

I - don't know. I mean, I'll be the first to say the Empire is evil, but - Sith? Unless the Inquisitors -

[ She stops, thinking again. Is that what the Inquisitors are? ]

Inquisitors? And what are those?

They're... I don't know. They work for the Empire. Not too long ago, we found a couple of them kidnapping children. I think they were Force-sensitive children. [ All true! She's just... omitting a few things, for now. ]
