[On the day of the shuffle, Kurt had happened to be hanging out on the planet, now that he's fully over his cold.

And so he returns to the Huntress sometime after most of the mess has unfolded. He raises an eyebrow, as something seems a little different in the atmosphere, and he makes an inquisitive sniff at the air.]

Why does everything smell so... clean? [He might be far from the tidiest of captains...]

[Greed is leaning against the wall near the docking bay when Kurt enters. He has a particularly bored expression on his face.]

Got a new kid. She really likes cleaning. [Greed gives Kurt a pointed look of where have you been.]

[digthefuzz]

[He blinks. Wow what is with that look co-captain.]

Oh, did I miss a shuffle? I've got to plan my trips to the planet better... [He looks around.] I guess she really did a good job!

[avaricious]

Of course she did a good job. The runt thinks she's a slave.

[Somehow he manages to make this sound like Kurt's fault.]

Wh-what? [That sounds vaguely accusatory for some reason, and Kurt takes a step back.] Who told her that?

The kid came here believing it. I've tried to get things sorted, but we've had some issues with the crew. It's hard to establish a firm stance on these things when your co-captain can't be bothered to be around.

[So. Yes. It's Kurt's fault.]

Hey, no one sent me a memo? And... and since when were we supposed to be a committee? [This Greed guy seems awfully confident about having all the power in the ship, except when there's a problem that's not easily solved.]

Committee? Please. You're the one who keeps clinging to a position you don't even want. [He's humoring Kurt at best. And driving home the burden of leadership by thrusting blame on him whenever possible.]

[Koala gives Kurt one of them good ol' 100 watt creepy smiles.

Yes, there's your assailant of the floors — the 11-year-old over there carrying buckets. Oh, but he doesn't look absolutely thrilled by the cleanness... did she not do something right? He said it smelled clean. Did it smell too clean? She usually cleans areas so much bigger than this, maybe she overdid it!

The smile stays, but the aura of anxiety is wafting off her.]

I - It was me! I'm sorry, is it too strong of a smell? I'm very sorry! but I did almost everything I needed to! The kitchen and the hallways are cleaned. And I washed any dishes and cleaned the bathrooms as well, and I shined any shoes you may have. I apologize, but the laundry still needs to be done...

[THAT SURE IS SOME SMILE. He gives a nervous smile in return as she speaks.]

Hey, hey, no worries! It's okay. The smell's fine. I just... didn't expect everything to be so clean, you know? It sounds like you really did a lot so far. You know, I can take it from here! [He's probably a little embarrassed about her going through his dirty clothes... His living space was probably already a particular mess to begin with.]

Then I'm glad to have been of service!

[It's good, right? He said he didn't expect it to be so clean! It lives far beyond his standards! She can't help but feel good about it, when it's impossible to hear such things from the nobles. Usually there is some sort of mistake, even if she cannot see it with her naked eye. They're Celestial Dragons — of course they'd be able to tell.]

But you don't have to trouble yourself, sir! You can rest and I will bring whatever you need.

You did a really good service, yeah! [He nods and gives her a thumbs up.]

But hey, I want to do some work too. It's okay, it's no trouble. Otherwise I'll get too lazy, you know?

[She almost laughs at that. You're so silly, sir.]

It's okay to be lazy! It's my job to make sure the ship stays clean.

[She touches the augment space behind her ear, beaming.]

I don't doubt that you're an expert on the subject. But you know, if I get too lazy then I won't be fit! [He says that lightly, with a good-natured chuckle.]

[Oh... Well...! She can't exactly fight someone who ranks higher than her... But she can't exactly slow her roll, because she's an odd child saddled to the gills with trauma. Life, man.]

What sort of things do you enjoy doing, on the ship?

Um... anything! Chillaxing, eating, doing my laundry, playing games... you know, normal fun stuff!

We have a new girl, part of the maintenance crew. Let's just say she takes her role very seriously.

She has. However . . . she's conditioned to believe she needs to work to earn her board here. I believe she was raised by slavers.

[Kurt's happy-go-lucky expression quickly fades in favor of concern.]

What... really? But... she doesn't need to do anything. We could all be lazy bums up here! [He tries not to outright say he's a lazy bum most of the time up here but-] Did someone talk to her yet?

[ He gives Kurt an unimpressed look. ]

Of course, everyone spoke to her, but I don't blame her for not believing in some strangers. She just needs some time to process the differences.
