Who: adelina and you!
Broadcast: fleetwide
Action: marsiva
When: now

[there's a figure clad in armor slowly stirring on one of the cots in the marsiva. it takes a few moments for her to come to, but when she does, there's a flurry of activity. she reaches for her sword instinctively - but it's gone. she looks around the room quickly, noting how unfamiliar and strange everything looks.

she refuses to lose her calm, though, and so she's heading into the rest of the ship to (hopefully) find some answers after inspecting the place she awoke in. her growing agitation is obvious in the way she moves, though her steps are still graceful and elegant despite the heavy armor. she's not going to panic, but not knowing what's happening or how she might fix it is frustrating. as such, she raises a hand in greeting to the first person she comes across on the marsiva. despite her mounting anger, her voice is polite and pleasant.]

You there. Might I request your help?

[later, she's trying to puzzle out the strange device that is the communicator. this means you're getting an extreme close-up of her face as she looks at it, though the view is rapidly swiveling around as she turns it over, then around, then sideways. what a good introduction.]

How peculiar. I wonder how we're meant to-

[the broadcast ends abruptly, only to resume a few moments later. someone's pushing buttons despite having no idea what they do while muttering aloud to herself.]

—different from anything I've encountered before. I wonder if it's a sorcerer's invention, or perhaps some kind of—

[there she goes again. someone might want to help her out.]

Absolutely. I've been here around three months, so I'm not entirely versed in everything-- but if there's anything I can help you with, I'd be delighted.

Well. That's a bit . . . confusing, honestly.

[He settles down onto his bed, sitting with his legs crossed under him.]

Right now, you're on the main ship, the Marsiva. Around it, lots of smaller ships float around. We're in space-- do you have that where you're from? [No, he assumes from her armor, but one never knows.] Where that is is a bit trickier-- nowhere near home, I think. I can't find any charts that mention my planet, nor anything I recognize.

So: in relation to me, I can tell you. I'm on the Paisley, and if you peer out a window you might see it-- one of the little ships I mentioned. But in relation to where you're from . . . that's a far trickier question, and one no one quite knows yet.

Well. We aren't.

[He exhales and offers her a sympathetic smile.]

We're meant as entertainment. I'm going to assume you don't have reality shows where you're from, which means . . . well. It means that, although you can't see, we're being recorded. Watched. All of us. And then shown to people as entertainment.

[He doesn't argue, doesn't point out that she already is, because what would be the point? She'll have to accept it in her own time.]

I'm sorry.

They talk to us, now and again. Although it's not as if they prod us into any particular action-- from what I've seen, it's mostly just us living day to day that they find interesting.

Suppose it's . . . you know. Relationship drama. Focusing on a favorite and seeing what their lives are like. Things of that nature.
theshabbiestofmen: (Talk ☾ ....okay then!)

[personal profile] theshabbiestofmen 2016-01-14 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I mean . . .

[He tips his head to the side.]

Don't you have anyone famous at home? Or-- legendary, I suppose I might say. One whose stories, lives, are interesting?

[From the armor and way she speaks, he assumes a medieval time. So he tries to think of Arthurian legends, and how they might be interpreted.]

[personal profile] theshabbiestofmen 2016-01-14 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
Well, yes, this is rather an extreme example, I just mean-- that's the appeal. I'm not justifying it, just-- explaining the logic of it. As it were.
theshabbiestofmen: (Talk ☾hmmm no I think not)

[personal profile] theshabbiestofmen 2016-01-14 06:00 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know about exceptional. I mean, I think it depends on your point of view. But . . . most people have abilities, in some form or another.
theshabbiestofmen: (Talk ☾ohhhhh oh no)

[personal profile] theshabbiestofmen 2016-01-15 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I don't know, I mean, I don't run the show.
theshabbiestofmen: (Talk ☾Distant)

[personal profile] theshabbiestofmen 2016-01-16 06:17 am (UTC)(link)
It is.

[He agrees quietly.]

But you're not alone here. That's one consolation, at the very least.
