[Contrary to popular believe, the Pathstone isn't THAT useless. Yes they can go months without an upgrade and sure they're kind of a mess at the best of times, but they still function!

Most of the time. Flying sideways in space is all about perspective anyway, and they haven't done a barrel roll in like... well probably awhile.

So welcome, new Pathstone dwellers! We're probably very sorry in advance.]

[one of the captains of this lovely ship notices the ping of a new living presence immediately, but he is in no hurry to go an meet the new recruit. he has a lunch and chapter in his book to finish first.

it's only when he's good and ready that he finally decides to take a stroll through the halls to track the newbie down.

and when he does finally round a corner to find the man inspecting one of the paintings, he stops where he's at--arms lazily folded--to watch.]

[It's just as well that others take their time to meet Kanan. The ship is new to him, but not so unique enough as to truly keep his interest. So when he realizes he has someone watching him, he's hardly invested enough to be distracted.]

You must be another member of the welcome wagon.

[and the dragon isn't in a terrible hurry to get closer or deepen the introduction very far just yet, continuing to casually hang back while getting a handle on what he can pick up of the stranger's aura and demeanor from here. and, while he's at it, he even tries to keep his own energies--which tend to bleed and gleam for anyone sensitive to such things--closer to himself than he would typically bother with. call him paranoid.]

And, I suppose that means you aren't here for only a brief visit?

[For his own self interest, Kanan had been avoiding any Jedi techniques of sensing irregularities in the Force. If there was something strange about this shipmate, he was making no effort to discover it. Aside from his incident with Cole, Kanan was just any other human.]

Depends on how comfortable I find the place. Comfortable seating is a pretty big priority for me.

[then they'll both be left with appearances alone, which suits Tek just fine. he's glad to not have another energy-oozing mage appearing on the ship, honestly.]

Oh, well. We happen to value comfort quite a bit on this ship.

[which is a very true statement--perhaps to an absurd extent. there's an entire room converted into a nest, after all.]

Though, the most comfortable resting place is reserved for captains, unfortunately.

Well, that does figure, doesn't it? Hopefully the spares aren't too bad.

[The ship at least had a nice lived in feel to it. That didn't quite make it home, but it made it more inviting than it might otherwise be.]

I hate to ruin the surprise... but, I wouldn't get my hopes up on that point, if I were you.

[he lifts his chin a bit, giving the new recruit a not-so-subtle considering glance, up and down. it's his way of being friendly.]

What's your name?

Kanan Jarrus. You?

[He'll allow the other to take him all in. Kanan instead plays the part of just being indifferent either way.]

Tekhetsio. [he'll go with his whole name, this time. it feels right.]

And captain, though no one actually uses the title.

[Aha. One of the captains, as Jove put it.]

Is that because they use it for the other one?

[oh.

well. he at least gets the satisfaction of Tek's friendly expression falling in an instant.

the dragon just rolls his eyes.]

...You've already met some of the crew, I see.

Jove's the real congenial sort. [And this guy... wasn't.] I can only imagine there's a story there.

That's one way to put it. [thanks, Jove.] And... yes, there is quite a story there. At least one, really. You should ask her about it, sometime.

[and the smile returns, anyway.]

Regardless of whatever her various friends may say, the fact remains that this ship is just as much mine as it is hers, and has been for much longer.

[Well that was interesting. He didn't really peg her for the type to take over like that. That was interesting.]

Ouch. Well, I'm not taking sides. I'm just here for the ride... well, that and security apparently.

Security.

[of course he's security. everyone on this ship seemed to be security.]

Is that the sort of thing you specialized in at home, as well?

You could make the argument for that. Sort of. [He was the fighter of the group, besides Zeb. But he liked to think he brought more to the Ghost than that.] We all wear different hats on my crew.

That's good, I suppose. We have more than enough hands manning the guns, with little to fight. Being versatile will keep you from getting bored, at the very least.

[he'd kill for a lab officer, though. oh well.]

I'll try not to take up too much space if I can help it.

[Which is to say... he's ready to jump ship if they find themselves wanting someone who adds more value to the ship. Kanan just got here and he's not particularly attached.]

[he likes that unattached attitude, really. he kind of wishes more people around here followed that sentiment.]

Do you have any other skills or hidden talents?

...Though, if they're of the singing or musical sort, forget I asked.

Plenty. But they wouldn't really be hidden talents if I told you, would they?

[he grins a little.]

So, I'm nosy.

...You're intent on leaving it a surprise then, hmm?

Call it a professional precaution. The less people know about me, the better.

Fair enough.

[he could certainly appreciate a mutual respect for secrets around here.]

Someday, perhaps you'll indulge me.

Maybe I will. [A casual shrug.] It was real nice meeting you, captain.

[He hasn't exactly warmed up to this guy, but proper courtesy costs him nothing.]
