[Contrary to popular believe, the Pathstone isn't THAT useless. Yes they can go months without an upgrade and sure they're kind of a mess at the best of times, but they still function!

Most of the time. Flying sideways in space is all about perspective anyway, and they haven't done a barrel roll in like... well probably awhile.

So welcome, new Pathstone dwellers! We're probably very sorry in advance.]

Kanan had the emotion and Cole flinched back, not just his hand but he vanished for a moment and reappeared just out of reach, in curls of black green smoke.

"I'm sorry. I can stay away. I'm good at staying away and not being noticed."

Kanan had about three seconds before Cole would vanish and keep away from him.

As much as he might have wanted to be left alone just then, Kanan was still at a loss for what he should be feeling. He ought to have been angry or even felt violated, but neither of those emotions seemed to carry much weight with him. All he felt was the hole that Order 66 had left him. Somehow the mission, the Ghost Crew, the rebellion, and everything else hadn't filled it the way he'd thought they had.

"It's a small ship. I don't see how you'd manage that for long."

Cole stopped where he was, back to Kanan and head bowed.

"I'm very good at not being noticed. I could make myself not be noticed."

"You could," he agreed. "But this was your ship first."

Much as he might have liked to keep his distance, there was an odd fascination still fresh in his mind. Besides, even he knew common decency.

"It's not my ship. I just pilot her." That simple. "Jove and Tekhetsio are the captains, though they don't always like each other much."

"Two captains?" It was better to narrow in on that oddity rather than that reopened wound inside.

"Yes. I don't know why. It was like that when I got here. Jove does the things with making sure people are okay and Tekhetsio... complains."

He didn't actually know what a captain did or what either of them did around the ship. "Jove is our engineer too."

One complained and one actually worked. Well, he could see the balance of power there. "So Jove is the one in charge, then."

And the other just had a title.

"I don't think anyone's really in charge."

And that was the heart of it. Everyone did their own thing, the way they wanted. Crowley mostly just made addictive games, Jove kept the ship running, Tekhetsio yelled at them all for being an embarrassment.

"But we work. Together. Even though a lot of us aren't really good at what we're meant to do."

"And what happens if the ship is threatened?" A dysfunctional crew was a recipe for disaster, much less one that didn't even seem to know what they were doing. Kanan wasn't so sure how long he could justify remaining on a ship like that.

"Strings carefully pulled, smile for the camera, sure to make them watch. I don't let us get hit. It would hurt Pathstone to be hit. Tek yells instructions, Jove makes us keep going, Duke and Cassandra return fire."

He swayed on the spot, eyes closed and listening. "You can leave if you want to. Elize left Huntress to come here."

He really, really didn't know what to make of that. And he thought Yoda was hard to follow sometimes.

"I haven't made a decision yet." A frown. "And... all that before. Whatever it is you saw. I'd prefer that stay a secret."

"I won't tell anyone." That simple. Other people's secrets were theirs, not his, to tell. "I wouldn't know what to tell them, anyway." He shrugged and took a step back, an actual step rather than teleporting in smoke.

"Good." A beat. "Maybe you already picked it up already but - I'm Kanan."

Even if his mind was being read somehow, he could at least introduce himself on his own terms. "I'll see you around, Cole."

"Kanan." The way he said it suggested he hadn't known. "Goodbye, Kanan."

Cole pulled reality around him, shrouding him from sight as he headed back to his room.

He hesitated a moment, but soon reached out with the Force to search through the ship. A presence like that wasn't hard to feel and so with a worried smile, he reigned in his senses and carried on through the ship. There was much to think on.
