[The ship is small enough that when their new crewmate appears, Hange can round up the boys just by taking a stroll through the ship and yelling.]

Zhas! Coil! We have a new recruit, let's meet in the galley!

[Time for everyone to get comfy with each other. And also, discuss ship upgrades, this seems like a convenient time to do that.]

[WOW, crew, he expected way better when you guys said you were kidnappers. Good grief. On the outside, of course, all he gives is a slightly bemused smile and a nod towards Hange.]

Well. I can't imagine that didn't come with a particular set of skills; I'm sure you'll find work quite easily down below.

[He stands with a nod.]

[...yeah, he'll just let that one die. he glances at Hange to see if she had anything else to say.]

[Haha, Garak. She wasn't talking about them kidnapping anyone, and something about his phrasing is nagging at her; she stares at him with brows slightly drawn, worrying the words over in her mind.

And then it doesn't go away, but she shifts it aside to address her last point and raises her hand.]

It's not all, actually. I want to discuss ship upgrades we'll spring for this month as well.

There are four of us now, and Garak, you may be able to contribute. It takes two people to upgrade one part of the ship. My personal vote is for the kitchen and bathroom, but what do you boys think?

[Well maybe she should have been. With a slight sigh he returns to his seat, but nods at her words.]

Given of what I've seen of the ship so far, might I suggest the bathroom? Unless any of you has any particular cooking ability, it might be more beneficial.

[one of them (hi) has some cooking ability, but he's been doing all right with their first rank upgrade. he nods.]

Think the bathroom's half-paid anyway.

[Coil just shrugs. he's too new here to know what they have, and he certainly doesn't care.

if they can't improve the lab, he has no valuable input.]

Trust me, Garak... improving the protein output we have on ship would be highly beneficial.

[Dry. So very, very dry.

She can also cook, anyway. It's part of basic training and she can do chemistry: she can cook.]

So, let's finish paying for a bathroom upgrade for this month... Zhas, if you do that, why don't Coil and I pay for a kitchen upgrade? I have hopes of us escaping the endless abyss of protein yet.

Does that sound satisfactory for everyone?

[He nods, his smile going somewhat strained. Fantastic, more terrible rations. Just what he wanted.]

[he also nods. sounds good to him. he glances at Coil to make sure he's on-board... though he knows, either way, that he'll probably have to nag him until he puts his order in anyway.]

[he nods in that way that says, yes... Zhas will totally have to bother him again about it.]

Good.

[Well, whatever. That can be Zhas' job. She stands up.]

Zhas... if you wouldn't mind, take a ten-minute break and then I'd like a private word with you. And then with you after that, Garak.

[Very mellowly but it's pretty clear that she wants a "yes" from both of them.]
