[ She reaches up into the cupboard next to the dispenser, producing a tin of looseleaf tea, a small strainer, and a kettle. ]

Here we go! Much better.

[ Do't mind him, he's just going to dump whatever the hell this is out in the sink. Sanzo's also going to take those from Ino and make some damn tea. The real stuff. Small victories, this is one of the domestic-type things he knows how to do. ]

[ She steps back to let him do that, but doesn't leave. She watches him make the tea instead. ]

[ He rummages around his robes, pulling out a pack of cigarettes. He takes one out, but doesn't light it just yet. It must be saved for tea. ]

It's a common misconception that a high-ranking priest has the ability to cleanse. Talking to me doesn't make a murderer any more clean than a dirty rag. The stain is still there.

[ She glances at the cigarette, but she doesn't seem bothered by it, and doesn't make a comment. ]

Well, you'll be happy to know that the majority of assigned counselors here either just refuse to do it or don't really get many askers to begin with.

Good to know they're giving out fake titles as well as purpose.

You can choose to do it if it suits you. Some people aren't really meant for that type of work.

[ Can you guess who takes her job seriously? It her. Anyways, she'll sit down too, since that seems to be what they're doing. ]

Other jobs are a little more integral to keeping the ship running.

[ Well, if he's going to be so quiet, she's getting herself a drink, too. She's in the middle of getting some water when he asks, and she looks back to let out a bit of a surprised laugh. ]

What makes you think I'm the captain?

[ She is, but she's just curious if he looked it up or guessed or what. ]

[ He simply responds by quirking an eyebrow at her and just taking a moment. ]

I'm not one for waiting around for information to fall into my lap.

[ He waves a hand idly. ]

[ Well. If he's not going to do his job as counselor, he at least seems like he's got his business straight otherwise. She can respect wanting information quickly.

Also, the comment about having an air of command is flattering to her, and she enjoys being flattered. So he gets a little approving smile as she returns to the table with her water. ]

... It's been about a year and three months, now.

[ He scowls. That's not information that he likes. Sanzo's sure of one thing, he's not going to be stuck in this hellhole for that long. He's got shit to do and a youkai uprising to stop. ]

[ She should take offense to that -- it's not like she's had seven or eight years to "piss away" herself, but. It's not like he could know. ]

As far as we know, any time spent here counts as less than a second at home. So, really, you kind of have all the time in the world.

[ She takes a sip of water. ]

But most people don't stay as long as I have. It'll probably only be a couple months tops before you're sent back. You can try to complain to Atroma about it, but they're not exactly the listening type.

Thank fuck they had half a mind to leave us with the essentials while they play god and watch us squirm.
