Feels like a tracker or an ID tag.
[He wasn't freaked out by it, but he was a little indignant.]
But an augment? You're not the first I've heard call it that. What is it s'pposed to augment?

They actually didn't tell me what I know either. My task.
[Is he just supposed to know what he knows? Like - astrophysics. He tries to ask himself an appropriately astrophysics-y question -- what is a planet? -- and yes he immediately reminds himself that a planet is one of those large round things in space and in the past he could have named a handful of them, but he might not have been so quick to add that planets in particular orbit suns, don't orbit anything else, and don't have brick-a-brak floating around close to them. He might not have known that the roundness of planets is a property of their mass, as is their relatively-free-of-debrisness. He reaches for something harder. Say he wanted to get from Earth to the moon? How long would that take? Well - his brain responds - what's the diameter of the Earth? You can work it out from there.]
Pilot. [He says, as if remembering, or being prompted by someone off-stage.] I'm a pilot too.
[Well sure, it seems obvious to him now.]

Guess I'll have to show you my kill-switch. I know only a pilot with a pilot's augment should be able to access the controls, but I've learned from my own world you can't be too careful.
Do you have any vehicle handling experience?

Some. I think if you gave me a day or two in the chair I could figure it out.
[He makes a vague gesture with his hands. Casual, confident, but it might also read as foolish and arrogant.
Except...]
But that'll have to wait for a while. I got these other augments, and they're not augmenting like they're meant to.
[His hearing aids, which he shows her without offering them to her. The purpose of them might not have been obvious to anyone who wasn't familiar with the technology, but they were shaped like ears, and Clint held one finger to his ear to help with the visual description.]
I'm not too handy with a headset right now.

What's wrong with them? [She should see about getting Tyrion or Tobio to look them over, if they're acting up.]

Answering her question is easy enough - he doesn't even need to speak. Instead he turns one on, and while the crackling, whining sound that it makes isn't necessarily audible from several feet away, he only has to lift the device a little ways toward her before she should start to be able to hear it. Feedback. Like a badly tuned radio, but one stuck between a scream-o rock-band and a string quartet.]
I think it's all the signals between the ships. Something like that, I dunno.

Take it to engineering; see if Tyrion or Tobio can do anything with it. [Other than that, she's not sure what to suggest.]
no subject
I appreciate that, Captain.
[Until he gets them fixed, any unfamiliar words are going to be almost impossible for him to pick up on. He even gets lost with the familiar ones, sometimes.]
What can I expect from the others? They seem like the hijacking type?
[She did say she installed a kill-switch.]

Never know when some half-baked blood-bag tries to jack your rig in the middle of the Wastelands.

You never know.
