[the feed opens with a closeup on a pair of narrowed gray eyes. then she draws back and the whole of her face comes into view, revealing a teenage girl with curly hair and a solid glower. she's mostly ignored the network until now, but it's been days and she, apparently, isn't going anywhere. knowledge is power, and she's not going to get that by trying to ignore her situation until it goes away. besides, she's a daughter of athena and that's not how she deals with problems. if using her communicator attracts monsters, it attracts monsters; but she hasn't seen any since she's been here. it's simultaneously nice and really weird.]

You know, this place could seriously use a welcome brochure. I wouldn't say no to an orientation video, either. Like, welcome to space! Congrats on being selected for the worst reality show ever. [or so says the irritating cheery voice she keeps hearing. ugh. and there she thought being featured on hephaestus tv at the thrill ride o' love was bad.] And that's saying a lot, believe me. I want information -- whatever you know about this place, the planets you've seen, monsters you've fought, anything. Bonus points if you can tell me what I need to do to find some burgers around here.

[she can hope. she moves to stop the feed, hesitates, and then pulls back for one last thing.]

Obviously, I don't want my friends to be stuck in space. [defensiveness isn't really fair, but that doesn't stop her.] But if any of them are here, I don't want them thinking they're alone when they're not.

It's a kind of sandwich. You put a meat patty, lettuce, cheese, onions, tomatoes, mustard, ketchup, and whatever else you want in a bun. Or, like, a vegetable patty if you're vegetarian. [like her good friend piper] They're sold in a ton of fast food places where I'm from.

We went to a cowboy planet and an ice planet, if you want to know about planets. [ He's so helpful. ] The first one was dusty. The second one was entertaining. I got to punch monsters for fun and profit. [ Then he smoked the meat for jerky and stockpiled it. ]

Burgers...you might have to beg meat off someone else. Hopefully someone will hear your unfortunate plea, or you'll just have to deal with gelburgers.

Okay. What kind of monsters were on the planet? Uh, the ice one. And if you can tell me anything else about the cowboy planet, that'd be great too.

They had a lot of fur, generally. Beyond that limbs and eyes were kind of varied and optional. [ Evolution clearly does not work the same way it does where he comes from, not that he cares. ] Dunno if they fit into a category. They were fun to fight.

It was really dusty. Had a lot of alien cowboys on it. Also, they put chickens on all their metalwork for some reason. [ He definitely made note of that. ] I think you could rent horses or whatever.

You seem to be taking this pretty well. We've had a lot of arrivals who just freaked out when they got here. [ SO SENSITIVE. ]

[the monsters don't sound a lot like anything in particular she's ever heard of. ugh, she just got started on learning about roman gods and monsters. is she going to have to add aliens to her list of monsters to know about? annoying.]

I'm used to weird. It's not so easy to freak me out.

Close to the real thing as it gets, anyway. Desserts are easier; sometimes you get lucky on the waystations. We're passin' a few of 'em soon.

Three planets since I got here, and surprisingly less monsters than I expected. They're more into the whole cheesy "confront your personal demons" approach, which got way old, like, three years ago.

Nah, we had plenty of 'em. I haven't been since.... middle school, I wanna say.

[He'd believe it too. Way too many people come from other planets and galaxies to know basic American customs.]
