[ there's a brief silence before zuko unlocks the door and opens it, looking a little... well, wary.

he had asked people to come to him with questions, but it's still hard. it's hard, talking about his family so openly, because while zuko knows that he's very different from the rest of his family, it's still a mark of shame. it's still his responsibility. ]

[Well, Robb would be the last one to pry in other people’s affairs but this one concerns the entire ship. He enters silently and before he starts to speak he straightens his back a little.]

I am in need of more information, ser. [He sounds way older than he actually is.] Apparently your sister threatens the safety on this ship. [And she ‘bends’ fire. That is even more difficult to comprehend than all this modern technology that surrounds him right now.]

Has she placed such a threat? In public?

[Robb has not been keeping up with the messages that come through the black box.]

She hasn't placed a public threat.

[ it's said automatically, with the tone of someone who has either 1) said this a million times before or 2) someone who expects to say this a million times more today. ]

She threatens the safety of the people on this ship because she's my sister, and she's going to be concerned with me.

[ and probably eventually killing sokka and katara and toph, but she'll have to go through zuko first ]

Everyone is definitely treating this as if it is so.

[It is said in a bit of a snappy way but he regrets that the moment Zuko continues.]

Ah I... [Robb sighs softly and smiles in an apologetic way.] ...We will keep you safe, ser. I cannot bend the wind or water but it is said I am good with a sword...and these weapons.

They have reason to be paranoid about Azula -- but she hasn't done anything yet.

[ there's no harm in being prepared. ]

... and thank you -- I can defend myself, but it's appreciated. Bending isn't everything, either -- I'm a swordsman, too.

[ zuko loves it, secretly, just as much as firebending, but no one will ever know ]

I take it she is difficult to defeat? [Robb gazes a little at Zuko’s burned eye. Is that his sister’s doing? He takes a deep breath.] If someone encounters her, do you want her killed or injured?

[He rather have her killed but then again, she could be a valuable hostage.

When Zuko mentions that he is a swordsman Robb’s face lightens up a little. Gods, finally someone who is familiar with weapons that were not guns or lasers or guns with lasers.]

If I regain mine we should spar some day. I miss the feel of a sword in my hand.

I don't want anyone to attack her unless it's in self-defense. She hasn't done anything yet.

[ the very last thing zuko wants is a dead sister ]

And she is difficult to defeat -- she's a genius, and one of the strongest warriors the Fire Nation has. Anyone who can't control fire probably won't stand a chance against her... but I managed to defeat her, in different circumstances.

[ but he relaxes half an inch ]

I wouldn't mind the sparring, though.

[It is not the way he would solve it. When his enemies attack him he is not going to lash out to defend himself. It is to kill or be killed. But he does not mention it. Apparently they wanted a more friendly solution.]

Aye, let us hope she will not visit this vessel.

[But how does one capture a genius fighter? What is their plan? Sit and wait? Ambush? He smiles briefly and pulls a serious face.]

I take there is some sort of strategy? Will you be able to defeat her once again?

[The thought of sparring with swords makes him relax as well.]

I have two -- I use two, I have a dual-sword technique.

[ it's said absently, thinking about robb's first question.

And I won't have much of a choice, but to defeat her again. Losing isn't an option.

[Consider Robb impressed.]

That is astounding! [There's a pleasantly surprised look on his face. He has never seen a man fight with two swords at the same time.] You need to show this to me when you have the time. I have always learned to handle one sword at the time and ser Rodrik told me I am quite good with a lance as well.

At least you are not alone. At least, not here. [Robb probably would stand no chance against Azula. But some of the others might.]

[ -- oh. normally zuko gets shock and awe from the firebending, and the excitement over the swords actually brightens him into something more than 'god i hate my life' for two seconds. at least, he looks more animated. ]

I can show you whenever you want.

[ with a shrug ]

Master Piandao thought it suited me the best, so he had me learn with two. It's a tradition, in my culture.

[Robb nods firmly.]

Aye, I would like to see that. If I get my hands on a sword we will definitely spar as well.

[He takes a small step in the direction of the exit, cocking his head a little as he listens to the other’s words.]

So every young man gets such lessons, I assume? [A pause...] Can I do it? [Robb definitely knows swords and if the swords aren’t too heavy he can definitely handle two at the same time.]
