[Kanan is sitting at the Málum on the Iskaulit, having himself a quiet drink as he contemplates the so-called Space Bar he passed getting to this particular alternate establishment. Neither one were quite like the cantina he used to work in back on Gorse and neither one of them had quite the crowds either. There was always a few here and there, but it would be a real stretch to ever call them packed. Which is what prompts him to take the time to look at the ship rosters.]

I've been looking at the ship rosters today. It looks like all of the ships in this fleet are at max capacity. Is that normal?

[It's not because he was trying to figure out a way to get himself and Hera on the same ship! It was just... professional curiosity. That's all.]

I also didn't bother with an introduction on my last broadcast. My name is Kanan. [And the part where he'd actually give anything about himself is abruptly not included when he decides to end the feed.]

I'm never on Coruscant long enough to catch any of that. What was it, that we're wasting Republic funds with this war?

[ A beat ] Contrary to rumors, I only crashed one Star Destoryer.

[Clearly Kanan was in the wrong circles. He looks surprised by that at first, before replying with:]

No no, war hero sorts of thing. Tales of Skywalker liberating another planet or facing off with General Grievous.

[Or disobeying the council and going off to do his own thing. Just the usual sorts of murmuring and talk that happened at the Jedi Temple. Anakin was a bit too famous and infamous for Kanan not to have heard a few things.]

Heh. So, all the propaganda material then. Sorry you had to live through that.

[ A beat ]

Do you know what happens to me?

[Dead. Probably.]

No. Things went pretty quiet after the Clone Wars ended, though. That and news from Coruscant doesn't always travel very fast in the Outer Rim.

[ he almost rolls his eyes but opts for a slight eyebrow raise instead ]

Of course. Where were you in the Outer Rim?

A little place called Lothal. I'd be surprised if you knew it.

[It wasn't even part of the Republic or Empire until fairly recently.]

No, that doesn't sound familiar.

Heh, I can't believe it, I've actually never heard of Lothal. I was almost always deployed in the Outer Rim, I thought I knew all the little places.

During the Clone Wars, it didn't have much to do with the Republic. Until recently, it was a nice place to lie low and avoid attention.

Huh. What happened recently?

Without getting into all the details, someone with a bigger stick showed up. I've spent the last years tangling with them. [But he can't be really sure they've made any progress. Lothal is worse off than it was before.]

It's hard to imagine that it could be worse than the Clone Wars, worse than the Separatists.

I don't have to do much imagining. Though you're right, it's not as bad as the Clone Wars.

[At least they were on even footing then. Against the Empire, they've already lost.]

If it's spread to the Rim worlds, then it can't be much better either.

[ He considers this for a moment. ]

I know you can't say much for ... whatever reasons you have. [ A touch of irritation there but barely noticeable. ] But if there's anything I can do, you just have to say the word.

[Well... what does he say to that? He could give him all the warning signs to look for, but even that might be risking too much. Still, any Jedi he can help...]

Just keep an eye on your clones when you get back. Don't turn your back on them.

[ The ...clones. He wasn't sure if he wanted to say anything at first but it would be a dishonor on Fives if he didn't. ]

I was involved in an investigation; to find a clone that went rogue. It didn't make sense at the time, but the picture is a lot clearer now.

Fives was a good man, good soldier. I should've believed him.

[That lines up with what Rex and the others told him. That somehow they'd figured it all out. Even so...]

It's not the ones going rogue you need to worry about.
