[There was a young woman with blue hair passed out on the floor of Marsiva. She looks maybe nineteen or twenty, her clothing seems to be a tad damp, and she shifting occasionally as if having a nightmare of some kind.]

-on't you forget about me..

[The words come out in a mumble against the floor, and maybe it's the way they sound in a spaceshiip that yanks her out of her sleep, but a second later her eyes flare open and she sits up in a shock.]

WAIT I- What? [Whatever she was expecting, the Marvisa was clearly not it, and after a quick, panicked look around, she scrambles to her feet.]

Okay, calm down. Maybe this a good thing. Okay. Okay [She is clearly talking to herself, with no idea anyone is watching. Trying to calm herself down, probably.] Still alive. What does that even...

[She finally seems to have noticed a nearby window and the void of space beyond it because she freezes, then immediately darts over to it, staring out for a long breath, one hand coming up to press against the glass, making sure it was there.]

...What the fuck. Am I in space?!

Did you start out human? Like. Genetically? Your parents? I've only read a couple books but like, usually there's steps between 'base' and ...you.

I've looked like this since I was a baby. Where I come from, it's a little different from that. Some people are just born with an 'X-gene', like at random. I guess you could say it makes those steps you're talking about... into an elevator?

[He looks confused by his own attempted metaphor for a moment before he trudges on.]

Never mind. The point is, these mutations are kind of random, no matter who your parents are. My birth mother might have been a mutant and blue herself, but so many other mutants are born to 'normal' human parents.

Okay. That's like...nothing I've ever read about.

Pretty sure something like that'd be on the news, dude.

But I'm betting we're from different Earths. That's... kind of a thing that happens here.

[It's an awkward silence for a moment. Because he has some idea of her situation, even if he hasn't exactly made head or tails of it. But saving Chloe was the priority in that dream world and now-]

Yeah - we're safe here, at least. No real crazy dangers or anything. So, um, let's make the most of it!

Do they have space suits? Can we go outside?

Right - there's still space itself. [He admits with a chuckle.] When you're here long enough, it feels like you're just going through a weird ocean.

But there's apacesuits alright! We get to go outside, just not very far. ...But where you are now? You're pretty much stuck there until the shuffle.

Till I get 'assigned,' right. [Ugh. Waiting.] I can four days. [She makes it sound like a prison sentence though.]

Then I get...what, randomly stuck on someone's shift? Any way to go to one I want?

Right!

Um... There are transfer forms you can use to go to the ship of your choice! I... just actually don't know if you can get those forms before your first shuffle.

Well I've got plenty of time to poke around and see if I can find them.

[She sighs.]

Why does Max have to be on such an artsy-fartsy named ship?
