[There was a young woman with blue hair passed out on the floor of Marsiva. She looks maybe nineteen or twenty, her clothing seems to be a tad damp, and she shifting occasionally as if having a nightmare of some kind.]

-on't you forget about me..

[The words come out in a mumble against the floor, and maybe it's the way they sound in a spaceshiip that yanks her out of her sleep, but a second later her eyes flare open and she sits up in a shock.]

WAIT I- What? [Whatever she was expecting, the Marvisa was clearly not it, and after a quick, panicked look around, she scrambles to her feet.]

Okay, calm down. Maybe this a good thing. Okay. Okay [She is clearly talking to herself, with no idea anyone is watching. Trying to calm herself down, probably.] Still alive. What does that even...

[She finally seems to have noticed a nearby window and the void of space beyond it because she freezes, then immediately darts over to it, staring out for a long breath, one hand coming up to press against the glass, making sure it was there.]

...What the fuck. Am I in space?!

[ Just another quiet, normal day. Get mysterious cargo, dock at a space station, have your bank accounts frozen.

And new people are still showing up.

Max takes a moment to browse through the communicators. But it's not like there's ever any---- ]

[ --HOLD UP. Rewind for a second here.

Are you fucking serious right now? ]

[ Max has been here for damn near six months now. The entire time she's been wishing for Chloe to show up.

But now that she has she's unsure how to proceed. She thought about this, but she didn't think it through. ]

[ But shit, this is Chloe, she's not going to give herself any more time to think about this. This warrants immediate Max Action. ]

Chloe! Shit, I can't believe it's really you. [ Caught somewhere between a wide grin and a worried frown. Both at once? Good luck figuring that one out. ]

Max?

[Okay, Max's voice coming from...somewhere. Chloe hasn't noticed the screens yet. But her voice gets the older girl to turn away from the window at least, looking around, frowning.]

Max, where are you? What the hell is going on? Did we mess something else up?

No, it's - it's kinda weird, but it's nothing we did. I'll explain it in a bit, I swear. [ Whether it makes sense even after being explained... who the fuck knows. ]

But first, look around, you should see some screens? [ Max will wave once she sees Chloe actually looking at one. ]

Uh...right.

[Give her a second, Max. This is a lot to process.]

[When she spots the screen though she hurries over, coming to a stop before it and then waving back. Her smile is honestly a bit ridiculous.]

...There you are. Well this is sure the biggest phone I've ever seen.

Got it in one, not bad.

[ Because what she needs now is slight sarcasm. ]

[Kurt was taking a break in the Huntress when he heard a familiar voice over the network. It was a voice that he heard before without actually meeting the owner, and when he looks into the screen, the image makes it all come flashing back.

The statue, the brochure - Chloe Price. Max's friend, the girl who died several times. Who had to be saved. Suddenly, she was right there on the video screen.

The blue German mutant, with a look of astonished surprise, looks right back into the video feed.]

Oh man...! [He exclaims in his surprise.] Chloe?!

[And he just blurted her name without thinking...]

[She notices the texts on one of the screens and just rolls her eyes.]

Oh great, sarcastic text messages. That's just what I was hoping for.

[Also, she'll flip off the screen while rolling her eyes. Oops?]

[Woah. Blue person. Blue person who...knows her name? What.]

...Yeah. That's me.

...

Who the fuck are you?

[Oh right, anger.]

All the better for seeing you with. [ To quoth red riding hood. ] I just... wow, I still can't believe you're really here. This is all real, right?

[ She realizes that probably sounds weird to somebody who just. You know, woke up in space. ] Sorry. You're probably a lot more confused than I am. I've, uh, been here for a while.

Yeah. I'm not...really believing it either. Jesus Max.

[Chloe actually reaches up and touches the screen where Max's face is, but then realizes what she's doing and tugs her hand down, looking a tiny bit embarrassed.]

A while, huh? Uh. Confused doesn't even...Shit. Okay. So...[So many questions.] How long is a while?

[...She is definitely not a happy camper, and now Kurt looks more nervous in the face of her question.]

I- I'm Kurt. [...Then he finally realizes his folly in saying her name and tries to think of a fix.]

I'm a friend of Max's!

Right..

[Max always did seem to like befriending weirdos...]

So. Uh. [Give her a second.] What's with the blue?

[Well, at least she sounds less ready to kill him... So he gives a light shrug and goes on jokingly:]

It really brings out my eyes!

[Pauses for any laughter.]

...But really, you could say I'm kind of a mutant.

[We'll just say talkng to Max has calmed her anger. A little.]

[And he's funny enough, in an awful way, that she laughs.]

Right. [Oh hey that little bit of science nerd is poking out.] That's a hella wild mutation, man.

A while like... going on half a year? [ It's been a long time, hasn't it? ~~That's at least an eternity lbh~~ ] I honestly didn't think anybody I knew from home would be showing up.

A half a-

[Jesus. Chloe tries to process this, then groans and turns away from the screen, kind of pacing back and forth in front of it.]

...I'm sorry Max. [When she finally comes back.] Well. Uh. I'm here now? [Shrug and a grin.] I mean I don't know why. Or how I'm still here...

But. Not that I'm complaining. This sure beats the alternative.

[It beats a lot of reactions to him being a mutant. So he'll take it! And he chortles a little bit in return before he answers.]

Dude, you don't even know the half of it yet! [He pokes the tip of his forked tail over his shoulder and waves with it while glancing towards it.] Like, check out this little guy! I'd tell you more about it, but it's quite the tail!

[She's had a weird week. Tail, huh.]

...How do you get...i mean...

[Hrm. He sounds German.]

Did you start out human? Like. Genetically? Your parents? I've only read a couple books but like, usually there's steps between 'base' and ...you.

Fuck this is awkward sorry.

The alternative? What, being in Arcadia Bay? [ Psh. ]

Anyway, this is all pretty sci-fi, but not actually too complicated. Everybody here was basically brought in to star in a sort of... interstellar reality show.

...No? [Chloe's expression looks...worried? A little lost? Uncertain what to say? Did Max not...she'd dealt with a Max that didn't remember before, but...] That's not...Never mind.

[If Max didn't know, did Chloe have to tell her? Wherever they were, whatever was going on...It had broken her heart to force that choice on Max. She'd be happier not knowing...]

Uh. Reality TV. That sounds...[Suddenly realizing.] Wait, can people see me?

[ Max will let the "no" slide for now, Chloe. For now.

The subject's moved on, so Max'll do her best to answer. ] Yeeah. Well, about that. Nobody's found any cameras, and we can't watch the show ourselves. So we don't have any idea when, or even what people are, you know, actually watching.

[That German accent is there alright.]

Dude, it's okay. [He tries to wave off her concerns.] I get you're confused.

I've looked like this since I was a baby. Where I come from, it's a little different from that. Some people are just born with an 'X-gene', like at random. I guess you could say it makes those steps you're talking about... into an elevator?

[He looks confused by his own attempted metaphor for a moment before he trudges on.]

Never mind. The point is, these mutations are kind of random, no matter who your parents are. My birth mother might have been a mutant and blue herself, but so many other mutants are born to 'normal' human parents.
