001 - Video/Action - Welcome to space?

[There was a young woman with blue hair passed out on the floor of Marsiva. She looks maybe nineteen or twenty, her clothing seems to be a tad damp, and she shifting occasionally as if having a nightmare of some kind.]

-on't you forget about me..

[The words come out in a mumble against the floor, and maybe it's the way they sound in a spaceshiip that yanks her out of her sleep, but a second later her eyes flare open and she sits up in a shock.]

WAIT I- What? [Whatever she was expecting, the Marvisa was clearly not it, and after a quick, panicked look around, she scrambles to her feet.]

Okay, calm down. Maybe this a good thing. Okay. Okay [She is clearly talking to herself, with no idea anyone is watching. Trying to calm herself down, probably.] Still alive. What does that even...

[She finally seems to have noticed a nearby window and the void of space beyond it because she freezes, then immediately darts over to it, staring out for a long breath, one hand coming up to press against the glass, making sure it was there.]

...What the fuck. Am I in space?!

[Kurt was taking a break in the Huntress when he heard a familiar voice over the network. It was a voice that he heard before without actually meeting the owner, and when he looks into the screen, the image makes it all come flashing back.

The statue, the brochure - Chloe Price. Max's friend, the girl who died several times. Who had to be saved. Suddenly, she was right there on the video screen.

The blue German mutant, with a look of astonished surprise, looks right back into the video feed.]

Oh man...! [He exclaims in his surprise.] Chloe?!

[And he just blurted her name without thinking...]

[Woah. Blue person. Blue person who...knows her name? What.]

...Yeah. That's me.

...

Who the fuck are you?

[Oh right, anger.]

[...She is definitely not a happy camper, and now Kurt looks more nervous in the face of her question.]

I- I'm Kurt. [...Then he finally realizes his folly in saying her name and tries to think of a fix.]

I'm a friend of Max's!

[Max always did seem to like befriending weirdos...]

So. Uh. [Give her a second.] What's with the blue?

[Well, at least she sounds less ready to kill him... So he gives a light shrug and goes on jokingly:]

It really brings out my eyes!

[Pauses for any laughter.]

...But really, you could say I'm kind of a mutant.

[We'll just say talkng to Max has calmed her anger. A little.]

[And he's funny enough, in an awful way, that she laughs.]

Right. [Oh hey that little bit of science nerd is poking out.] That's a hella wild mutation, man.

[It beats a lot of reactions to him being a mutant. So he'll take it! And he chortles a little bit in return before he answers.]

Dude, you don't even know the half of it yet! [He pokes the tip of his forked tail over his shoulder and waves with it while glancing towards it.] Like, check out this little guy! I'd tell you more about it, but it's quite the tail!

[She's had a weird week. Tail, huh.]

...How do you get...i mean...

[Hrm. He sounds German.]

Did you start out human? Like. Genetically? Your parents? I've only read a couple books but like, usually there's steps between 'base' and ...you.

Fuck this is awkward sorry.

[That German accent is there alright.]

Dude, it's okay. [He tries to wave off her concerns.] I get you're confused.

I've looked like this since I was a baby. Where I come from, it's a little different from that. Some people are just born with an 'X-gene', like at random. I guess you could say it makes those steps you're talking about... into an elevator?

[He looks confused by his own attempted metaphor for a moment before he trudges on.]

Never mind. The point is, these mutations are kind of random, no matter who your parents are. My birth mother might have been a mutant and blue herself, but so many other mutants are born to 'normal' human parents.

Okay. That's like...nothing I've ever read about.

Pretty sure something like that'd be on the news, dude.

It would. ...It is, where I'm from. [A sad chuckle.] And things are kind of a mess.

But I'm betting we're from different Earths. That's... kind of a thing that happens here.

[She's going to give him a look like 'Okay, blue was weird but now you're clearly nuts.']

No joke! All those tv shows about parallel universes were true.

...And in one of them we're trapped in space and you're blue.

Huh. Believe it or not, that's not the weirdest shit I've had to deal with this week.

...Well, I guess I can be glad not to have earned that title?

[Okay. Right. Fuck, stop being an ass Chloe, he said he was Max's friend.]

So. Uh...how do you know Max?

["I accidentally stumbled into her dream museum dedicated to you in my sleep" sounds a little complicated to lead with.]

[Man that is a dorky name.]

Oh man...! [He runs a hand through his hair as he thinks back.]

It's been about four months now, give or take.

And Max said half a year...

Man. I guess people are in this for the long haul, huh.

Yeah, I guess so... [He says wit a sympathetic nod.]

At least there's a lot of worse places to be stuck than exploring outer space.
