001 - Video/Action - Welcome to space?

[There was a young woman with blue hair passed out on the floor of Marsiva. She looks maybe nineteen or twenty, her clothing seems to be a tad damp, and she shifting occasionally as if having a nightmare of some kind.]

-on't you forget about me..

[The words come out in a mumble against the floor, and maybe it's the way they sound in a spaceshiip that yanks her out of her sleep, but a second later her eyes flare open and she sits up in a shock.]

WAIT I- What? [Whatever she was expecting, the Marvisa was clearly not it, and after a quick, panicked look around, she scrambles to her feet.]

Okay, calm down. Maybe this a good thing. Okay. Okay [She is clearly talking to herself, with no idea anyone is watching. Trying to calm herself down, probably.] Still alive. What does that even...

[She finally seems to have noticed a nearby window and the void of space beyond it because she freezes, then immediately darts over to it, staring out for a long breath, one hand coming up to press against the glass, making sure it was there.]

...What the fuck. Am I in space?!

Yeah. [Chloe actually has to catch herself from reaching up to touch the screen again. Stop it, stupid..]

Oh right. I guess that...hrm. [She looks at the pack and then stuffs it back into her pocket. She can go a while without one...maybe. She hopes.]

So uh. [She leans against the wall next to the screen and smiles weakly.]

Gimmie the lowdown here, SuperMax. What else do I need to know? How bad is all this?

Shit. Uh... [ Well now she's on the spot. Max was never one for greeting new folks brought aboard, so she has to actually stop and ponder that for a minute. ]

We don't know all that much about the how's or who's or why's behind anything here. But most stuff that's happened hasn't been so bad. Really, we just cruise around and visit planets and junk.

[ Okay, there's one or three worrying things, but nothing she needs to spring on Chloe right now. After she's calmed down some, sure. ]

[ Oh. Uh. Wait. There actually is one thing. ] Oh, and. One thing you should know.

There's a guy named Allen. White hair, giant scar on his face. He's kind of immune to my... you know. [ She gestures vaguely. Rewind powers, get it?

Okay, maybe too vaguely. But she doesn't want to say it out loud. ]

[She could think of worse things that cruising around the universe looking at planets. She always did want to go on a road trip. She'd been thinking 'california' not 'jupiter' but hey, whatever.]

That doesn't sound too bad.

[wait. What?]

You mean...what? How is that even...So he can like, see you do it? And doesn't...go back?

More like he... goes back with. Or maybe just remembers?

It's weird, but there's a lot of weird people here. Like... wizards. Actual wizards.

[ Allen is not one. But she has like fifteen on the Paisley with her. Slight exaggeration. Slight. ]

Wizards.

[She repeats this, but she's actually thinking about this other guy. He could see what Max did, or he remembered, or whatever. God, how many times had she wished she could do that? Or even just to know when Max had done it, so she wasn't always wondering in the back of her head if Max was trying different 'answers' until she got the right one out of Chloe.]

[Or if she'd rewound...other things.]

I want to say I don't believe in magic, but I'd be hella lying.

[She says this after a moment, smirking, trying to keep those unhappy thoughts from getting in the way.]

[ Thankfully, Max's powers don't include mind-reading, so Chloe is free to think what she will without Max's meddling.

Instead, she will go with the wizard angle. ] Wizards. There's like, three on my ship alone.

I kind of didn't believe them at first. You're probably taking it better than I did to be honest. [ Then again, if it had been Chloe to tell Max about it, she'd probably have been less skeptical. ]

Wizards, man.

[Chloe stood up a bit straighter, turning the idea over in her head.]

But like...throwing fireballs around, flying, that kind of wizard stuff?

[She grinned kind of sheepishly.]

...I know basically nothing about wizards, Max.

I haven't seen any fireballs. It's not like an anime you know. [ ~~Because it's mostly western media on her crew~~ ]

The point I was trying to get to is that there are people up here with... you know, crazy, unexplainable powers and shit. [ Like hers, but not. And maybe interacting weird with hers. Lots of unknown variables, y'know. ]

Oh well gee, we wouldn't know anyone with a crazy, unexplainable power, would we?

[She grins, but this time it doesn't quite reach her eyes, and her laugh fades much faster. She was trying not to think about Max's powers, really. Not when she had to consider all they had caused...good and horrible. Focus on something else, Chloe.]

Okay, so like...forget all the ship shit and everything. You've been here six months, right? How...uh. Are you? What's new, what's hip, what's awesome?

[She wasn't sure this was a better topic but it would make the time she had to wait seem a little shorter maybe.]

Yeah. It's been a.... long time. [ Max's face moves through a couple expressions before settling on a thoughtful look. ] I've been fine though. I mean, I get to visit cool places. And the Paisley crew is great. [ It rings a little hollow. They're words, not feelings. ]

[ Okay, try not to sound too emo here, Max. Or, you know. The other thing. ] ...But I've missed you. Every damn day.

I still can't believe you're actually here.

[And wow, Chloe suddenly felt embarrassed, pretty obviously too, and she pushed the away from the wall, walking a few steps from the monitor. Damn, that was nice to hear, but it still made her feel weirdly self-conscious.]

You missed me? I mean, uh, of course you missed me. Who wouldn't miss me, right? [She laughed a bit as she turned back to the screen, clapping her hands together behind her head.]

So, what, you didn't...find a nice replacement punk girl? Or uh...pick up a dorky Warren double?

[Chloe isn't even sure what she's asking. God. She's probably trying to figure out if Max is dating anyone in the worst possible way. Oops.]

[ A small snort-laugh. ] Oh, please. Like there can be any replacement for you.

[ A little softer. ] I mean yeah, I've made some new friends. But there's only room in my life for one Chloe, and that'll always be you.

Yeah. Like...of course not. I'm hella irreplacable.

[Did Chloe look...relieved? There was relief there in her eyes. She let her arms swing down though, trying to cover it up as she walked back to the monitor.]

So like. You said this was some crazy tv show thing. Does that mean everybody can see us talking? Any way to...not have it like that? Like phones?

Oh. Yeah, totally. If you know somebody's personal frequency number, you can encrypt a message to 'em. Mine is [ Max gives hers here. ]

But, uh, I'm pretty sure comm officers can intercept them. So they're not one-hundred percent secure either.

Right. Okay.

[Chloe has no way to write that down but she'll figure something out.]

So I can use that to 'call' you now? Or make this...uh...

Yeah. As long as you can remember the number. [ Heh. ]

...Okay, cool. Hang on.

[Pocket searching has resulted in her finding her communicator, so she fishes it out of her pocket and fiddles with it until she knows how to make said phone call. A couple minutes later, Max has Chloe from a different feed, giving her a wave and a...is that smile nervous? Does she look nervous?]

Hey again, Supermax.

And look, you got it on the first try.

[ A little smile, but then- ]

I'm guessing you didn't do this just to try it out. So what'd you need to talk about?

Yeah, not so much. S'good to have your number though.

[Oh shit how to explain though, phone in one hand she starts walking, but doesn't say anything for maybe thirty seconds. At one point she reaches up to tug her beanie off even.]

Alright so like...Shit how do I- Okay! What's the last thing you remember? From ho...from Arcadia Bay, I mean. Like. Timeline wise. Like how you needed shit explained to you after you did that crazy picture time travel deal.

[Which Max probably doesn't know Chloe knows about...]

[ Max's expression changes- ]

How do you even... know about that...?

Shit. Well that hella answers that, doesn't it..
