001 - Video/Action - Welcome to space?

[There was a young woman with blue hair passed out on the floor of Marsiva. She looks maybe nineteen or twenty, her clothing seems to be a tad damp, and she shifting occasionally as if having a nightmare of some kind.]

-on't you forget about me..

[The words come out in a mumble against the floor, and maybe it's the way they sound in a spaceshiip that yanks her out of her sleep, but a second later her eyes flare open and she sits up in a shock.]

WAIT I- What? [Whatever she was expecting, the Marvisa was clearly not it, and after a quick, panicked look around, she scrambles to her feet.]

Okay, calm down. Maybe this a good thing. Okay. Okay [She is clearly talking to herself, with no idea anyone is watching. Trying to calm herself down, probably.] Still alive. What does that even...

[She finally seems to have noticed a nearby window and the void of space beyond it because she freezes, then immediately darts over to it, staring out for a long breath, one hand coming up to press against the glass, making sure it was there.]

...What the fuck. Am I in space?!

[Chloe doesn't mean to have a stupid smile when she says this. Probably doesn't even realize it's there.]

There's weird space vodka and I'm stuck in the limbo ship of waiting.

[Groan.]

Hey, we'll probably be here for weeks. You'll be down here in plenty of time to choke down weird drinks in alien back alleys.

[She raises her glass a bit to the camera, in an imaginary toast.]

I get that that's probably supposed to sound bad, but it hella doesn't.

[Chloe is quite at home in dives.]

So you're the captain of the Paisley, huh? [Hmm.] Is the shirt your uniform?

[She couldn't pass up some kind of comment about it. Not that the girl in the Misfit Skull tanktop with her bra showing should really throw stones...]

Guilty as charged. And nah, I just wear it to get the respect I deserve.

[helladoomed]

Hmm.

[Chloe has been sizing up Max's shipmates as she meets them, and the 'captain' is no exception. The girl looks younger than her, but there's an air about her that feels older. Maybe it's the self-confidence. Chloe had learned that trick early on too, during...well, the bad boy phase.]

Does it work?

Hell if I know.

[So she's not the best captain.]

I'm Alex, by the way.

[helladoomed]

[That is apparently the right answer, since Chloe grins.]

Cool. I'm-

[But she cuts herself off.]

You asked about Max. So you already knew who was I, huh? Has she been going around showing people my picture or something?

[Chloe she's a photographer that wouldn't be weird.]

Nah, I saw you in her memories.

[She takes a sip of her drink, like that was a perfectly normal thing she just said.]

This thing happened awhile back, where every night we'd have all kinds of crazy dreams about being in other people's heads. And I saw you, in hers.

[helladoomed]

[A week ago, Chloe wouldn't have believed a word of that. But now...well. She was a little more open-minded. But it was clear from her expression she wasn't happy about what she was believing. She stepped a bit closer to the monitor, not quite trying to stare the other girl down through it, but close.]

What did you see?

[delincuente]

[Alex just shrugs. It's like a really vivid dream - months later you can remember you had it, and you remember the details you thought about the next morning, but the dream itself is gone.]

Don't worry, she didn't let me see anything too personal. I can't even remember what anyone said. Just like this silent movie of a couple of cool chicks hanging out.

[Chloe isn't sure she believes that, because if their positions were reversed, she probably wouldn't have spilled everything she had seen. But...Max was behind her. The things Chloe wouldn't have want shared...the kiss, the goodbye...Max didn't even know about that.]

[So she was quiet for a good thirty seconds, without even really meaning to be as she thought it through.]

Uh. Right. Okay. [Was that a nervous smile covered up by false bravado.] Probably nothin' worth seeing anyway...

[Alex catches onto Chloe's discomfort, and takes a deep breath, leaning in a little.]

Her head was, like, basically full of you, okay? You don't have anything to worry about.

[helladoomed]

Really? [This comes out, surprised and maybe slightly excited, and she catches herself a split second later and just groans, covering her face with a hand.]

Fuck.

[delincuente]

[She just smiles, pleased with herself.]

Yeah, it was pretty much the mushiest thing ever.

[helladoomed]

[Chloe uncovers her face after a few seconds, smiling in...sort of a goofy way, like she can't quite stop herself, and she leans against the side of the monitor. She doesn't really know how to process that...not combined with everything else.]

What's your uh...code thing. Private call...code thing. Phone number?

Hold on, I can encrypt it. I'm communications.

[Aaaand she does so, a more mischievous smile sliding across her face.]

Handy. I'm a labrat.

[She'll wait a few seconds, and then a few more as she tries to...decide how she wants to ask this. She couldn't ask max, not directly, and she'd sort of gotten an answer but...not...]

[Finally, she sucks in a breath.]

Okay, tell me straight. Is Max seeing anybody? She's been here for months.

[Oooooh, that grin just grows.]

Nope! She's completely single.

[Is Chloe...relieved? Yes, she is clearly relieved. And yet...conflicted.]

Great! I mean...damn it. [Chloe sighs.] Man I am terrible at this.

Dude, just talk to her. That's the only way you'll work it out. Otherwise, it's just gonna be awkward staring in the kitchen for the rest of your life. Take it from me.

It's...it's not that simple.

[Chloe has no idea how to explain.]

I'm from...about a day ahead of her, back home.

[Ah.]

... And I'm guessing it's a pretty big day?

Biggest fuckin' day of my life.

[Chloe just sighs.]

Some of it was amazing. Max was. I don't know. I guess we...

[She shakes her head.]

Some of it is horrible though. No idea how to explain the good things in front of the massive, massive horrible thing.
