Again?

[ This is a young man circling around as he's transported to his new ship, the SS Huntress. He's mostly talking to his new crewmates but there's that unknowing broadcast going out, too. ]

Moved around twice in twenty-four hours, and this one is not nearly as nice as the first one. We're supposed to stay here while we play this stupid game? [ Psht. ] Which, by the way, I didn't sign up for. Did anyone? Because I was in the middle of something, you know, important.

Dangers and such, you mean? Nothing stands out to my mind... we've had mysterious disappearances, but no murders by anyone on the ships, if that's what you mean.

[ On one hand, no murders is a relief. On the other... ]

Disappearances?

Very mysterious. About once a week, some people depart with no fanfare at all. It doesn't seem like they were taken by force, but none of them have said anything about leaving willingly, either. They've simply vanished without a trace.

Right... I think I was talking to someone about that. She just came back from that, didn't know where she'd gone.

[Believe it or not, her voice suddenly takes on a more serious tone.]

Let me guess, that was Nunnally.

It was. Something I should know?

She was on my crew, that's all. And we were quite fond of her.

And... she's back now.

[ He's not seeing a problem here. Well, aside from someone coming back to Drift Fleet anyway. ]

Indeed she is.

... Okay. So there's nothing else that goes on aside from disappearances?

Not that I know about so far.

And how long have you been around?

A few months now. Since the beginning.

Then it's... pretty tame here? Weird.

Well, there was a small incident where residents of the first planet infected everyone with tiny energy-training robots and everyone had colds, but be careful of strangers and that danger should easily be mitigated.

Tiny... energy-draining robots?

That gave everyone colds.

Well, I don't believe their goal was to give people colds; their goal was to drain their energy. The colds were a side affect.

Yeah, but drain their energy for what?

The planet itself was in pretty bad shape. Apparently they'd tried terraforming it, but it hadn't taken off. They didn't have much agriculture to speak of, or meat farming, or much of anything. I expect they used other people as resources for that reason.

Soylent Green. [ Ugh. ] Sounds like it didn't take, at least.

We worked out a cure for some and for others the augment fought it off! No lasting harm done. Oh, and there were also some incidents with attempted kidnappings by locals... on waystations. But all of this is from outsiders, not the members of the fleet!
