[For someone who looks like she stepped out of some medieval era, Ciri doesn't seem too alarmed by all the space and technology. It's easy enough for her to figure out how to broadcast, and she peers into the camera for a moment before speaking.]

So, two questions: where can I get a sword, and how exactly are my abilities dampened, here? [Because the first thing she tried to do was teleport back to Skellige, only for a whole lot of nothing to happen. Maybe if she didn't have enemies to demolish she'd actually feel some relief about the fact that what makes her a target for so many people is gone.] I can't be the only one. Someone must be very skilled to figure out how to keep that much control over us.

And... one more thing. I don't suppose any of my companions have found themselves here. [She frowns, brow creasing with worry. It's unlikely. She knows how sudden world-hopping works... or doesn't work. Still, she must try.] Geralt? Yennefer? Triss?

So you, as a Grey Warden, fight monsters. [Interesting. Ciri's head tilts as she examines him from where she sits. He's no witcher but different worlds have their own ways of dealing with such things.]

Suppose you would need a sword for that.

Yep! Darkspawn, specifically. And we do it with whatever weapons we can find, but my training is in sword and shield.

[percolates]

I thought you looked like someone that'd use a shield. [You know, because there's A Look for those sorts.] I shall keep an eye out for one of those as well.

[theirinurpants]

Do I? [ Alistair makes a show of looking at himself, at his arms, and then shrugs. ]

I didn't realize.

[percolates]

It's in the shoulders. [He's sturdy.] You're certainly no scholar.

[No offense.]

Hah! The sisters who tried to teach me could've told you that.

[percolates]

[She grins.]

I'm not much of one either. Fighting is much more interesting.

[Not to say that she's bad at learning, swordplay is just much more fun.]

That's what I always said when they made me memorize the Chant. I mean, what good is being able to recite the Chant when you've got darkspawn attacking?

Are you good at memorizing other things?

[theirinurpants]

Er, well, sometimes? If they're interesting enough, I suppose. Muscle memory is easier.

[percolates]

[Oh no, he's cute in a newborn foal sort of way. She laughs.]

You are an awkward one, aren't you?

[ Mostly just around pretty girls, but he won't be saying that aloud. Boy, would that be embarrassing! ]

Hopefully in a good way?

It isn't in a bad way.

[Is that better? He's funny.]

[ He grins a little. ]

So, what is it you fight then? Dragons, demons? Highwaymen?

[percolates]

All of the above, really. Your wardens sound a little like my witchers.

A witcher? So you have something like darkspawn?

[percolates]

They are monsters, aren't they? Or are they a specific type of monster that you're trained to kill?

[theirinurpants]

They're a specific thing. They bring the Blight, threaten all the lands, that sort of thing.

[percolates]

Does that mean wardens are specially equipped to kill them?

[What makes you special, Alistair?]

[theirinurpants]

Yes, we are.

[ Is he going to elaborate on that? Probably not. Grey Warden secrets are some of the only things he takes seriously. ]

[percolates]

[Ciri very obviously waits a beat, where he should explain... only to see he isn't willing.]

Do I not get to know how?

[theirinurpants]

[ In his defense, he does look a little apologetic. ]

I'm afraid not. It's kind of a secret, how we do what we do. I mean, anyone can fight and kill a darkspawn, but only Grey Wardens are immune to the Blight sickness.

[percolates]

[She can't really see the point, but then again, she's the one who was trying to be vague about her abilities for all of five minutes.]

Very well. You may keep your warden secrets.

[And she'll keep her witcher ones. So there.]

[ He flashes her a smile. Trustworthy! ]
