[For those who have been here awhile, it's a familiar feed. Allen's standing in behind a table in the lab, looking positive. Meanwhile Timcanpy sits behind him on a shelf, wearing a glowy stripe ribbon on his tail while he flaps his wings around- as if doing some sort of sign language interpretation for what Allen's saying]

Hello everyone! For those who don't know me, I'm Allen Walker, I'm one of the medics in the fleet. There seems to be a lot of new faces lately, so...either welcome aboard, or sorry you've been dragged into this- whatever you'd prefer.

[He clears his throat]

Anyway, just a couple quick announcements today! We'll be holding our bi-monthly blood drive the first weekend of February! The blood donated will be kept in case of medical emergencies that require a blood transfusion - in other words, using scientific methods to help someone whose lost a lot of blood. If you are interested in donating, we will pay you in money! In fact, we'll even pay you double the rate we usually pay since I know many of you are tight on funds.

So if you're interested and you're over the age of 16, please fill out the form attached to this video. [And what do you know, it's there] If you're interested in volunteering, please let me know. Vampires interested in volunteering will need to be able to have restraint around blood and will not be allowed to sample the blood.

This time, the drive will take place on the SS Paisley [Due to someone's psychotic sister making Blue Fish tightening up security], a thank you to Captain Alex and First Mate Stefan for the hospitality.

And of course, there will be cookies.

Secondly, I'm sure everyone has noticed by now the crates that showed up in their cargo bay. My crewmate's scanner managed to detect they are gumballs inside that contain some unfamiliar substance. If there's anyone whose already opened their crate and would be willing to donate some of the cargo to our lab for us to study, we would be happy to give you money for it. [Though not nearly enough to cover the fee you'll get for breaking it open. Suckahs] Thank you.

It's been a long time, but yeah. There's a lot of people here that I've met there, but don't remember it -- I don't take it personally.

[ pause ]

I've found it's better to just rip the bandage off with these things, rather than let it come out later.

Right...that makes sense.

[He gets it, now that he's done wrapping that around his brain. Must be the same Allen that Zuko talked about]

Well, I'm sorry that I don't know or remember you myself. I know what that's like. But it's nice to meet you, Hino.

You don't have to apologize -- it wasn't you, right?

[ rei used to believe that memories just got wiped -- until she discovered there were more universes like adstringendum. now, there's probably dozens of versions of her wandering around. who knows. ]

Just Rei is fine -- and it's nice to meet you again, Allen.

Ah...no, I suppose it wasn't. I've never been to Adstringendum.

[Though it wasn't his first time hearing about]

But alright, Rei. How did you know me...er, the other Allen?

[ she hesitates, considering that for a moment, before locking it. ]

We had a common enemy. -- they're not here, at least, not as far as I can tell.

[ her abilities haven't been blocked here, and rei has been keeping her eye out. road isn't here, and neither is lucifer. or tyki, though rei considered him less of an enemy and more of a thorn in her side. there's a difference, okay. ]

We were on an unofficial 'keep idiots alive from morons who wanted to destroy the city' squad. But we became friends after that.

{ and they almost went to prom together, so that's cool?? ]

[He listens to that, mulling it over]

That...sounds like something I would've done, yeah.

[Have common enemies and try to be part of a safety squad? Sure! Well, the latter part probably meant he was much younger, but there you go]

[ indeed ]

You were in a lot of people's business, but so was I, so I guess I can't complain too much.

[ easily enough; rei can recognize her own shoujo flaws

but -- this allen seems different. maybe more world-weary? less surprised that people know him. and she's run into a few like that (and a few she wishes she were, like sasuke, that annoyance), but -- ]

How many worlds have you been to, now?

[ she's nothing but perceptive. ]

[....]

[He gives a snort at that. Yeah. That'd sound like something he would do too.]

[As for the question about the worlds, he hesitates a little. How many planets has he visited? How many world changes in Paradisa...?]

...Ah, honestly I've lost count, at this point.

But it's been over eight years since I left home.

[ eight. she looks visibly startled by that, but only for a second. mostly because -- ]

... five, for me.

[ she pauses for a moment ]

How long have you been on the Fleet, out of that eight?

[He gives a look of sympathy. That many years isn't easy on anyone.]

I'm sorry to hear that.

[He truly is.]

Just one and a few months now. The rest was spent in a place called Paradisa.

[ it took castiel and the rest of the old guard almost five years -- for as long as rei had been there -- of constant work, toil, and perseverance to figure out a way out of adstringendum. five long years, of sacrifice, and blood, and sweat, and tears. five years.

if allen is only on year one, then rei can imagine there's a long ride ahead of her, too.

but dumping all of that onto an allen that doesn't know her seems to be unfair, and she's been trying to be decent about the whole memory thing. she looks briefly frustrated, but only briefly, and when she speaks, she focuses on something far less important. ]

Paradisa.

[ she repeats it, lets it roll off her tongue, and

looks suitably unimpressed ]

Who comes up with these names?

[Allen, on the other hand, feels strange and not sure entirely what to do. He's very used to being on the other side of this conversation- the one whose been forgotten. But the one who forgot? Well, ironically, it's still something he's not quite sure what do about. She seemed to think that it was another version of him that she had known, at least....]

[Still, what was that other Allen like? What was she going to be expecting out of him? Was he doing this right? Ahhh, this was hard]

[But right. Stop trying to think about it. Just smile and laugh]

I'm not sure, I'm afraid. I think it was trying to present itself as some sort of Paradisa, but...it was far from that.

[ she's never been on the opposing end, either. ~~who plays 90s anime sailor mars.~~ ]

They're all prisons.

[ with a slight sigh. to her, there's no difference between adstringendum and the fleet. this one just has hot water and nicer clothes. ]

I'm sorry you had to spend seven years in that, though. I barely made it five in Adstringendum.

Mm.

[He gives a little head shake and smile]

It is what it is. There were a lot of bad times, but there were a lot of good times too. And both helped me become the person I am today. So I don't regret the time.

[After all, if he had been home...he's very sure he would've never lived long enough to see his 24th birthday]

I don't regret the time either.

[ it's said at once, almost as a clarification -- rei certainly doesn't want to make that impression. ]

I wouldn't give up my time, or the people I've met, up for the world.

... we figured out a way to break out of Adstringendum, and the world collapsed. We were all supposed to go home, after that -- or wherever we wanted to go, for people who didn't have a home to go to.

[ she pauses ]

My path wasn't meant to go there, I guess, and I wound up here. It is what it is, but --

[ atroma, to her, feel just as bad as the animus do. ]

Ah....

[He pauses. He does feel bad for her. So close to getting home, only to have it snatched away? That's an entirely unfair feeling.]

I'm sorry. That must be beyond frustrating to wind up here instead.

It is, but I'm used to being roadblocked. I'll just have to keep working.

[ sigh ]

-- but I take it you didn't leave Paradisa willingly? You don't have to tell me if you don't want to -- you're already being more willing than Sasuke.

[ it's rei's mission in life to torment that child now that she knows he's all grown up ]

[A faint smile] That's a good attitude to have.

[No wonder they had been friends; and he's about to answer-]

[But first thing's first-]

That's not surprising. A rock would be more willing than Sasuke to talk.

[Anyway-]

No. I didn't. I was brought here before I found a way out of that place. According to my friends, it was like I'd been sent away by the castle.

He's older than when I last saw him. Twice as annoying.

[ it's said with some measure of affection, though rei doesn't seem to correct allen's statement. as he's... totally correct. ]

And I think a few people from Adstringendum had that happen, too. They went home first, and then came here -- some of us were taken straight here. I haven't tracked down everybody from there yet, but Nami tells me some people were taken way before the city actually fell. Time doesn't make any sense in any of these universes.

[ which is... worrying to her but whatever. ]

Cas tells me that the ritual we did worked, so I guess I'll just have to believe everybody made it to where they needed to go in the end.

[He gives a little nod. Yeah, time works very very strangely in these places. Allen's long stop assuming that anyone shares the same timeline.]

Yeah...I hope that they did too. It sounds like you all worked so hard...it'd be terrible if they didn't go where they wished in the end.

It would.

[ sigh ]

I just hope if they wound up in another universe like this, they at least have electricity.
