Hello everyone! For those who don't know me, I'm Allen Walker, I'm one of the medics in the fleet. There seems to be a lot of new faces lately, so...either welcome aboard, or sorry you've been dragged into this- whatever you'd prefer.

[He clears his throat]

Anyway, just a couple quick announcements today! We'll be holding our bi-monthly blood drive the first weekend of February! The blood donated will be kept in case of medical emergencies that require a blood transfusion - in other words, using scientific methods to help someone whose lost a lot of blood. If you are interested in donating, we will pay you in money! In fact, we'll even pay you double the rate we usually pay since I know many of you are tight on funds.

So if you're interested and you're over the age of 16, please fill out the form attached to this video. [And what do you know, it's there] If you're interested in volunteering, please let me know. Vampires interested in volunteering will need to be able to have restraint around blood and will not be allowed to sample the blood.

This time, the drive will take place on the SS Paisley [Due to someone's psychotic sister making Blue Fish tightening up security], a thank you to Captain Alex and First Mate Stefan for the hospitality.

And of course, there will be cookies.

Secondly, I'm sure everyone has noticed by now the crates that showed up in their cargo bay. My crewmate's scanner managed to detect they are gumballs inside that contain some unfamiliar substance. If there's anyone whose already opened their crate and would be willing to donate some of the cargo to our lab for us to study, we would be happy to give you money for it. [Though not nearly enough to cover the fee you'll get for breaking it open. Suckahs] Thank you.

I've been trained in the ways of witchers. Monster hunters, essentially. There aren't many left.

Witchers...I've never heard of those before. Do Witchers have special abilities or are they just highly trained?

Both. They go under special mutations that grant them long lives, strength, speed, and special skills to hunt creatures that prey on humans. Humans don't tend to take kindly to them, however. [Maybe it's the cat-like eyes. Who knows.]

I myself haven't undergone the mutations, but they've taught me their ways.

Mm... [Where has he heard that story before] Many humans fear what they think might be dangerous, even if it's there to help.

[Not all, but a good amount to make a difference]

That's pretty remarkable you know their ways. Will you ever undergo the mutations?

The mutations are a terrible process. Not many survive the trials it takes to become a true witcher. [Not to mention that some of the fundamental steps to implementing the mutagens have been lost. Ciri's not terribly upset about not going through something that only has something like a 30% survival rate.] Humans are getting better, smarter, stronger, able to handle monsters on their own more and more. One day witchers may be obsolete.

I see...

[Why do so many worlds have a system like that. At least this sounds a bit more hopeful...]

Perhaps it's for the best if that did. I've heard of many places where systems like that go very wrong.

Is it true for you? [Clearly you had some mutations go on too, buddy.]

[Oh, damn. There's a pause as he tries to think of what to say.]

...I choose to become an Exorcist, and I don't regret that choice.

But I can't say it's the same for every Exorcist, or that our system doesn't have its own problems. But the creatures we typically fight aren't natural to our world so....hopefully, one day Exorcists will become obsolete as well.

Is there much work for our sort here in space? [Or is she doomed to ask everyone for stories and pace around?]

Ah...not really, I'm afraid. [Which okay that's great in some ways, but man does it suck for the employment]

Most of the demons here are the sort that's more interested in just living their lives than creating havoc. I've only had a couple Exorcist jobs since coming here.

Well I'm a medic, running a blood drive is just part of it.

It's still saving people. Just a different means of doing it.
