[It starts recording without her realizing it. She's exploring her new surroundings cautiously. She places a hand on one of the cots and then pushes it through as if the cot weren't there at all. She removes her arm and both it and the cot are unharmed. Just testing her powers, don't mind her. She got worried when she realized her claws were missing.

Then she gets a better look at her communicator. It's a different model than she's used to.]

Is this another prison?

[It wouldn't be the first time the AIs sent them to a new facility. A space prison is as fitting as anything else, but there's usually some kind of message about it. This feels different.]

Is anyone from the Defense Force around? [Pause.] Or the X-Men. [She couldn't really be home though could she? In space?] Or anyone. Preferably someone with a light. [She can't find her lighter, but she still has a pack of cigarettes on her.]

(OOC: So, the coloring they used in AoA often makes her hair look reddish or blond, but I doubt the post-apocalyptic reality was really where she was going to start dying it. If you have known a Kitty Pryde, please just assume she looks like her—possibly younger or older. Shorter hair though. <3)

[Rogue shook her head.] Not when I'm from. I know he's a good guy, but I don't know him well.

[Magneto had him over a barrel, she knew that. She'd also heard from, well, Kitty, that he'd joined them in their last fight against Apocalypse. But she didn't know much more.]

He had his moments.

What about Summers? Evil or good? [As if anything is that clear cut. But she's met both kinds so she's curious.]

Scott? Or Alex? [Or...] Well, either way, they're both on Team 'Let's Not Take Over the World'.

[Because, yeah, Rogue was not really comfortable apply the words 'good' or 'evil' to people. Actions, certainly. But not people.] Yours?

[She was thinking Scott but only because he's the one other people tend to bring up.] They'd be on the other team. They work under Sinister for Apocalypse. [Kitty never really got filled in on Scott helping Jean out.]

[That was...hard to picture.]

Were they mind-whammyed?

[Scott was one of the main reasons why Rogue had even joined the X-Men to begin with - he had such an incredible heart, such deep loyalty... But Magneto had briefly turned both Scott and Alex with his mind-machine and goodness knew Apocalypse could lay down a mind-whammy.]

[She hadn't really thought about it before, but...] It's possible. That happened to Piotr's brother. And there's no shortage of them experimenting on people to increase their powers. [And if they play with bodies, why not minds too?]

Ugh. [If Rogue sounds disgusted, she is. She hates the whole experimentation on human beings thing. Hard to imagine anyone in their situation that wouldn't.]

Sounds like your timeline's just peaches an' sunshine, Kit. Us, it ain't so bad yet. Hopin' ta stop it before it gets that way. When I'm from, Apocalypse just woke up. He's buildin' domes around the world ta start his whole 'turn humans into mutants or kill them all' thing. It ain't pretty, but it ain't over yet.

[Kitty is right there with her not being a fan of it.]

Kit? [Did that just happen?] I hope you all take him really seriously then. Maybe if you're ready before he gets a stronghold...

[Kat?] Yeah, sorry, old habits.

[Which she really shouldn't apply. It was just... Gawd, it was so good to see her, even a strange version of her.] An' we'll do the best we can with that. I know Logan was thinkin' of workin' with SHIELD if it came down ta it... an' it probably will.

[Even less.] It's okay. [She knows how it goes. She's right there with her.]

What's SHIELD? [But she's already on board if it was Logan's idea.]

It's... like a extra-government police type force. Or - spies. I guess that's simpler. Spies.

[SHIELD is... shady.] We've got a bunch here from a different alternate world who're good people.

[Not really an appellation she uses lightly.]

I'll keep an eye out for them then. Or maybe they already have their eyes on me. Spies and all. [Little smirk that fades into something more thoughtful.]

So... [Rogue who is both friend and stranger.] How are you doing here?

I've been in a lot worse places. [Rogue answered honestly and without feeling the need to hold back, another rare thing.] If ya discount the fact that they're supposedly tapin' everythin' we say an' do out ta some audience somewhere, it's actually overall less invasive than it could be. Worst part's the boredom, the boredom an' the black.

...an' the food. [A bit of a pause.] Where are ya comin' from?

[Kitty really hates boredom especially if it comes with loneliness. Way too much time to think and reflect on things she can't do anything about now.]

MarinaNova Aslyum. It's a prison. An underwater dome thing. But it's basically just a small city. No cells. Really kind of nice if you don't count the lack of freedom bit.

I was heading up a team trying to overthrow the wardens. Guess someone else is now.

What were your worse places? [There's concern, not just curiosity.]

[Under the water, huh? That would make escape... difficult. Rogue nods at Kitty's assessment of following these things up, not really blinking too much at the thought of Kitty as a leader of a team. If there was one thing X-Men had practice in, it was teamwork. Things had been crazy enough that she had been leader for a time - why not Kitty?]

Folks in these sort of places have ta be adaptable to those leavin'. [It still hurts, but she hopes that Kitty is right and that her friends continued on.]

Luceti, mostly. [Really, not even Area 51 had been as terrifying as what she'd seen and done since then in that crazy place with the wings.] An' the battlefields around it... an' the time they sent us ta the moon. They had no stars, out in the black.

[And that just about sums up the delightfully hope-filled place it was.]

[Escape certainly hadn't been going well. There was also a virtual reality dimension of it to deal with, but they were underwater either way.]

Luceti? It was a place like this one? With war? [Speculating from the battlegrounds.]

Yeah. [Rogue rakes a gloved hand through her hair.] It was a hot mess. Most of the time we were safe enough, inside the barrier, but outside...

[Rogue shakes her head and abruptly changes the topic - or angles it differently, Kitty is one person she'd be happy to talk about the past with, find a way to catch up, to listen to her experiences and share her own - build something real and not keep it at a nodding acquaintance stage. But not all abrupt like this, there's an instant trust because of who Kitty is which extends far, far farther than it probably should, but at the same time... these were not things that were easy to discuss.] Tell ya what, when you get out of there, we can get some drinks an' chocolate an' swap stories. My treat. I've got a decent payin' gig on the station.

[Kitty would like that too and she could probably use a little more time to adjust so she isn't so reactive. Maybe there were be fewer slips like telling Kurt his last name is Darkholme as far as she knew or telling Rogue about Magneto. Not that she wants to hide things or that she'll even know what is a touchy subject, but there are other ways of talking about it. Chocolate is a pretty good way.]

The station? Oh, right, someone mentioned I should get to stations and worlds when I get a chance.

Sure. That sounds good. Kind of funny to think about having a job and using money again. [Or for the first time kind of. Their system of currency collapsed when she was still pretty young. Her parents were paying for most things and she was a student. And then in the prison everything was free and working was only by choice if you were bored.]

Usually ya stay up on a Marsiva 'bout a week, then they shuffle ya to a ship. I never stay on the ships when they're docked. So just give me a ring when they let ya off. [A brief pause.] The ships are gettin' crowded, so enjoy the space up there when ya can, okay?

Will do. [Not that it will turn out to be long at all.] Remy told me to hoard a few things while I'm at it. [Thieves give the best advice, okay? There's a little head nod and a look. She's glad to have Rogue here.]

Wouldn't hurt. Our money's frozen for some reason, so we've gotta work straight off the boat. The stuff we find on the station's a sight better'n what's on the Marsiva, but the Marsiva's a sight better'n what's on most ships.

[A pause.]

Ring me when ya get shuffled. I'll make sure you've got enough credit ta bunk on the station if ya want. We've been here a few weeks, so I can point ya in the right direction for some jobs too, if ya want.

I will. That sounds good. [She can't really think about this being her life yet even though her experience says that's how it works. But she can think about the next thing and when she's done with that thing she'll do another and so on. And this plan works well as a next thing.

There's a nod.] I'll let you get back to your regularly scheduled life. [She doesn't say thank you again, but...thank you.]

[Rogue knows how it is to want a little space after being dumped in a place like this. So she just nods.] I'll be around if ya wanna hear somethin' other than the trash they pump through the speakers.
