Some punchline.

[He isn't bitter though - overall it went better than he expected.]

[ he's hilarious, Clint. Anyway, the kitchen. There's a large table for a crew of ten, plus one guest. Jim gestures in its direction, Clint can sit anywhere he likes. ]
You in the mood for steak, or soup?
no subject
Soup. What kind of soup?
[No matter what the answer was, there was no way he was going to take from what he assumed must be very limited stores of meat.]

[ lightly, ]
Hope you're not allergic to alien food.
no subject
[A shrug. Then, a raising of both eyes.]
What if you were allergic to the standard gels and powers? Can you imagine?
no subject
You know, I'll manage.
[ #supersoldier life. ]

Is it just us?
no subject
Yeah. Unless you want my better half, too.

[Granted Clint wouldn't complain if there was another Hawkeye sitting beside him, but another Clint Barton? It would take some getting used to.]

[ He's old-fashioned. Sue him. ]

Alien-fish get a pass.
[What about alien fish-people? Clint had been on the communicator with what looked like some sort of orange octopus-head-girl. She seemed normal enough.]
no subject
[ Gesturing for Clint to try his soup first. ]
no subject
The problem was, he was way out of practice.]
How do they fish them?
[Now that he had the go-ahead, he took the spoon in hand and scooped up a level-serving of soup, making sure to get a hunk of fish-meat too.]

That's almost strangely specific.
[Chew chew, swallow. He didn't eat fish extremely often, except for the occasional anchovy. This was partially because it wasn't in his list of favorite things, and secondarily because it seemed a little too delicate and classy as far as meat went. He raised his eyebrows at the soup though, and nodded, and kept eating.]

Isn't dynamite fishing all the rage these days?
no subject
And it's bad for coral.
[He'd hear that somewhere.]
So last I heard, no. I think it's illegal most places.
[Clint fished with a bow and arrow, but then, he's tie his shoe laces with a bow and arrow if he could.]
