Hey. [New Flooters, meet your resident weird-looking alien girl.] If you haven't met me yet, my name's Ahsoka Tano.

Starting tomorrow morning at 0700, I'm going to be holding regular guided meditation sessions in the Prayer Room for anyone who wants to learn. Lessons are free of charge and you don't need to know me or ask to come along. I'll be there every morning, so anyone can come as they please. [She figures that might help the anonymous person she promised to teach as well. They don't have to reveal who they are to her if they don't want to.]

I know it's early, but I thought early would be best so that those of you who have to go to work in the morning can make it. Plus, then you can start the day off on a high note! Meditation is a great way to help manage anxiety and stress. It's also proven to improve concentration and clarity of mind.

... In the evenings at 1800, I'll be holding some easy self defense classes in the Iskaulit gym, every Tuesday and Thursday. It's just basic stuff, like how to get away from different kinds of attackers. Don't worry if you think you're too small or not fit enough or whatever. There's a way for everyone.

It is a beginners class, but if you're experienced and want to help out, I'd appreciate any volunteers to partner up with people! Otherwise I'm going to be taking a lot of punches on my own, haha.

[If you simply want to show up to one of Ahsoka's classes, just go ahead. She'll be where she said she'd be! You don't have to show up to the first class, you can handwave going any day of the week. Turn up to a full class, an empty class, it's up to you.

He was one of the first people I met here who wasn't human. Or-- didn't look like a human, anyway. I'm still a little confused about how the whole human-mutant thing works.

It was kinda weird being here for the first month. There weren't exactly many non-humans around, so it was nice to know someone else who looked a bit different.

It's a little confusing and some of us can pass for human. [Waves hand.] Obviously.

Anyone give you a hard time about it?

Not really. I've had a few stares and the odd question about my horns, but-- that's to be expected. Nothing approaching a hard time.

[She nods. Good.] Places that aren't where I grew up tend to be a lot more accepting apparently.

Right. I feel like Kurt mentioned that. There's some tensions between you guys and the other humans on your planet?

I think his world has tension. My world has war or something uglier than that.

... Oh. I'm... sorry to hear it.

[So much war, everywhere. Some days it feels like Ahsoka will never escape it.]

Mm, it's not great material to lead with when meeting someone. I should probably think of something else. Kind of hard to comment on the weather in space.

What's your world like? I can try to make that question more vague and open ended if it helps.

[Ahsoka just chuckles.]

That question's already broad enough. For starters, do you mean the planet native to my people? Or the planet I grew up on? Or... my galaxy?

They're three very different answers.

Look at you, so worldly. Whichever means the most to you I guess.

Well... the galaxy is a little too large to be summed up easily. But Coruscant's where I grew up. It's... well. You either love it or you hate it. It's the center of the galaxy, literally and metaphorically, so it's always busy and awake. Of course, the population density is so high the lower levels don't really get any sunlight, and the pollution is insane.

But... it's beautiful in it's own way, too. And the Jedi Temple is there. So... I can't dislike it.

Jedi, huh? [She recognizes that word.] Do you do force things? [That's totally how you word that, right?]

[Ahsoka resists the urge to laugh. Barely.]

That's not quite how it works.

But I can use the Force, if that's what you're asking.

I don't know that much about it. Not that it shows. [Smirk.] I saw someone use it to knock around some furniture once. It seemed a lot like telekinesis to me.

Sort of. It's not just moving things around. It's... energy, really. Being able to read and use that energy means you can sense other people's energy too-- how they're feeling, how they're going to move...

[So basically it's an entire Order of Jean Greys.]

Like being a telepath and a precog too.

[That would be confusing for Logan.]

Almost. It's-- I wouldn't call it true telepathy. It's more like empathy. You get a sense of someone's feelings.

I mean... if you have a close bond with someone, you might be able to tell what they're thinking. That's pretty common. But otherwise... we can't just read someone's thoughts like you'd read a book. You'd have to brute-force your way in to their head. And that's not how we do things.

Yeah? No one takes advantage of it? [That's hard for her to believe. Her X-Men were largely in the minority for doing the right thing and their methods were still...not above reproach.]

Of course not! That would be a massive violation of a person's autonomy. It's totally against everything the Jedi stand for!

[Though... even as she says it, she can't help but think of the few times when the Jedi have forced their way in to an enemy's mind in order to gain the information they needed.]

Then...how do you know it can be done? [She doesn't mean to come off as an interrogator. Hard worlds breed hard people and she's relaxed considerably between that place and here since she had a pit stop in between, but sometimes she has trouble pulling back.]

Well, obviously Jedi who have gone to the dark side have done it.

They don't care about anything except themselves.

Obviously, huh? [She just smiles slightly. It's pretty hard to explain things when someone doesn't have the same reference points. She's been there.] The dark side?

... There are two sides to the Force. The light side... and the dark.

Those who use the Force in service to others stand on the side of the light. On the other hand, Force-users who wield it only in service to themselves stand on the dark side.

Huh. Nothing in the middle?

[Ahsoka shakes her head vehemently. She's feeling stronger about this today than usual, in light of certain recent events.]

There's no middle ground when it comes to the Dark Side. It corrupts everything it touches.
