Hey. [New Flooters, meet your resident weird-looking alien girl.] If you haven't met me yet, my name's Ahsoka Tano.

Starting tomorrow morning at 0700, I'm going to be holding regular guided meditation sessions in the Prayer Room for anyone who wants to learn. Lessons are free of charge and you don't need to know me or ask to come along. I'll be there every morning, so anyone can come as they please. [She figures that might help the anonymous person she promised to teach as well. They don't have to reveal who they are to her if they don't want to.]

I know it's early, but I thought early would be best so that those of you who have to go to work in the morning can make it. Plus, then you can start the day off on a high note! Meditation is a great way to help manage anxiety and stress. It's also proven to improve concentration and clarity of mind.

... In the evenings at 1800, I'll be holding some easy self defense classes in the Iskaulit gym, every Tuesday and Thursday. It's just basic stuff, like how to get away from different kinds of attackers. Don't worry if you think you're too small or not fit enough or whatever. There's a way for everyone.

It is a beginners class, but if you're experienced and want to help out, I'd appreciate any volunteers to partner up with people! Otherwise I'm going to be taking a lot of punches on my own, haha.

[If you simply want to show up to one of Ahsoka's classes, just go ahead. She'll be where she said she'd be! You don't have to show up to the first class, you can handwave going any day of the week. Turn up to a full class, an empty class, it's up to you.

Also, if you have a character who would volunteer to help Ahsoka out with the self defense classes, feel free to just tag into any relevant top levels from beginners if they're relevant to your interests. Don't wait for me to match you up with people, in other words.]

What, even kids?

[From the way Sansa had said "younger," Ahsoka assumes she's a kid, anyway.]

Our Lord Father was the Hand of the King. We lived there by the invitation and mercy of His Grace. [ her words are likely rehearsed. practiced. they show none of the raw emotion sansa had once displayed to ahsoka in the shuttle. ] Arya received the same tutelage as I did -- there was no reason why she couldn't simply behave.

[ but instead arya ruined her nice dresses and took 'dancing lessons' that ended in bruises. honestly, it had been humiliating. but then her sister had disappeared and...

and everything had changed. ]

[Sansa's words strike something defensive within her-- not for Arya. She's never met Arya, doesn't know anything about her. But for herself. How many times had she heard the same as a youngling? That she was too unruly, and why could she not simply behave like the others?]

Well-- everyone's different! There are ten thousand Jedi in the Order, and we all receive the exact same education from birth. But we're not all the same.

[ she can't help but wonder -- would joffrey had been less cruel had arya not vexed him from such an early day? or would her life in king's landing had been less painful if she'd had a sister with whom she might share her doubts. but in the end, sansa knows exactly what would have happened: arya would have been far less capable of holding her tongue, and would have lost herself her head. it would have been speared on the city walls next to their father's. next to septa mordane's.

her mouth is dry when she tries to swallow. ]

But efforts can be made. [ sansa explains. ] There is difference, Lady Ahsoka. And then there is a wanton disregard for propriety.

... Why not leave her at home, then? If she's so unruly. If she doesn't want to be left out, she'll be motivated to do the right thing-- whatever that is in your culture. And if she doesn't mind staying behind, then... you don't have to worry about her behaviour, right? And she gets to do what she wants. It's a win-win situation, isn't it?

The decision had been my Lord Father's.

[ -- and fool that sansa had been, she'd begged to go with him. better they'd both stayed at home in winterfell. ]

Wait, so-- you didn't even get a say?

Did you even want to go? Did your sister?

He was called to serve his King. It seemed -- it seemed like a fine idea, at the time. To visit King's Landing. To see the South. [ she is talking circles around the problem. ] I was happy to go.

[Ahsoka's eyes narrow somewhat. Sansa's demeanour is at odds with her words. She doesn't look like someone who is speaking with desire for anything-- except perhaps an end to this line of conversation.]

... And now?

And now, I am happy to be there no longer. [ stiff. precise. ]

... Not what you expected?

Lady Ahsoka. [ sansa has told her some of the political atmosphere back in westeros, so she tries to put a fine point upon this fact: ] When we left Winterfell for King's Landing, the North and the South were at peace with one another. My expectations crumbled alongside that peace.

[ she went from guest to hostage. ]

I--... [A sigh.] Sorry. I didn't mean to hassle you.

[Well, maybe she did, just a little.]

It's just-- you're always so... so prim and proper. I grew up in an Order full of people for whom dampening our emotions is the norm, and I still have trouble understanding what you're thinking or feeling most of the time.

[ good, she thinks. because if ahsoka cannot understand it -- then perhaps her enemies cannot either. she is happy to be inscrutable. ]

I was taught that courtesy is a lady's armour. [ it protects her. ]

That's just what I don't get!

Who are you protecting yourself from here? Me?

[ -- aha. the lady ahsoka is offended. hurt, it seems, by the distance she keeps. sansa understands she's no enemy, and yet everyone who is not blood must be kept at bay. even with nyssa, she'd been careful. because words of friendship are pretty things, but they only words. words are wind.

she wonders if perhaps ahsoka has never tasted this particular pain: the kind where the people meant to protect you are the ones who hurt you most. if that's the case, then she can forgive the emotion she hears is ahsoka's protest.

for now, she says what she thinks ahsoka wants to hear: ] Apologies, my lady. I never meant to hurt you.

[ only to armour myself. ]

[This time, Ahsoka catches it. And rather than placate, it only seems to make her more annoyed. She makes a small but audible noise of frustration.]

Augh! I don't care about that! Just-- say what you want to say!

[ it might be the frustration that spooks her. or, instead, the commandment given. sansa stares (silent) at the device for a moment longer. does ahsoka's disappointment frighten her? or does it merely make her feel guilty.

her heart is beating too fast. her pulse is racing. she feels a trickle of sweat on the nape of her neck, and it's all she can do to give her head the tiniest of shakes. ] I-I've changed my mind, Lady Ahsoka. Mayhaps meditation is not what I need.

[ i am not the one who lacks patience. it's as near as she comes to a searing and honest remark before the feed cuts dead. ]

Wait--!

[She yells, but it's too late. The feed is already dead.

Augh. Idiot! Idiot, idiot, idiot. She shouldn't have lost her temper. She always does, at the crucial moment. She thought she'd gotten better at that. She just thought-- she thought maybe they were friends by now. Ahsoka makes friends quickly, trusts easily. Sansa's guarded caution makes no sense to her. As far as Ahsoka can tell, there's no reason to mistrust her, or feel afraid of her.

But Ahsoka has grown up with an entirely different rulebook-- in an Order where truth and being true to yourself is paramount to her and everyone she knows. She can count the number of lies she's told on one hand and still have a finger or two left over. Back home, she's surrounded by people she argues with all the time, but that doesn't mean they're any less friends.

But none of that is Sansa's world. Ahsoka sighs and puts her face in her hands. What is she going to do?]
