[A woman in green looks down at the camera, red curls spilling over her face as she inspects it with a gentle, if somewhat unamused look in her eye. She got the briefing it seems, and she's not happy but shouting is only giving her captors what they want. Silent for a few moments, her head quirks to one side a fraction, a bit like a bird studying the ground.

Seeming to come to a conclusion, she nods to herself and finally speaks. Her tone is formal and polite, though there is an undercurrent of uncertainty. Would she be speaking to nobody?]

I understand I'm to be residing aboard this...fleet...and that these communication devices are how we connect with one another. And that means introductions.

[A breath as she seems to compose herself, pushing hair out of her eyes and smiling genially. Her moment of weakness and uncertainty was done.]

My name is Nomi Sunrider, currently of Coruscant. I believe I have an understanding of the basics of what happened, though I would appreciate information that our hosts have not provided. I'd also like to know more about you, whomever might be listening to this. There's little point in being whisked away to another...reality...[She grimaces around the words.] and not at least learning from the experience. [Best to be diplomatic, right?] A name, a favored story, anything. It'd be more worthwhile and significantly less maddening than this horrible canned music.

[Her eyes close, head swiveling slightly to the left as something catches her attention.]

And I feel a handful of individuals strong in the Force present here. I would appreciate it if you would contact me. [A deep, deep frown.] And tell me, why do I sense my daughter's presence?

Not at all. Though I can't say I know of many Jedi with kids of their own.

[Well, not in the Order he was a part of anyway.]

Really? Whyever not?

[It's incredibly common in her day and age. Her husband trained initially under his father. She was planning to train Vima but that was a whole can of worms now...]

Jedi form no attachments. You can't exactly have a spouse or children without being attached to them. Otherwise you're being either a bad parent or a bad Jedi.

[He's been out of the Order for fifteen years and doesn't exactly follow that line of thinking anymore, but he still tries to. It's all he really knows, after all.]

[She rubs her head.]

And who told you that was how the Jedi did things? That seems more than a little far fetched to me. And dangerous, too. Both to the continued existence of the Jedi and for their mental stability.

[neverknight]

[Continued existence of the Jedi. If only he could find that amusing.]

Every Jedi I've ever dealt with. From Yoda all the way down.

Yoda?

[Not a name she knows. But one that apparently means something to him.]

Have you had many dealings with the Jedi, sir?

[neverknight]

[At this point, there's really no point in concealing anything. It's better to just come clean.]

Some. I spent half my life in the temple. Yoda was Grand Master of the Jedi Order.

[seaoflight]

[Probably. She's not exactly going to berate him or stab him or anything though.]

Half your life. So you were an apprentice, before the Sith...?

[Obi-Wan had caught her up a bit.]

[So she knows about all that then. That simplifies things.]

That's right. There's no Order when I'm from.

[seaoflight]

Which makes you an outlaw, yes?

[That does.]

[neverknight]

I prefer the term rebel. Outlaw just sounds too criminal.

[seaoflight]

Fair enough. Rebel then.


Was your training completed? Were you Knighted?

[neverknight]

No. I've made do on my own.

[And so, never knighted. It felt too little and too late to try and amend that now.]

Would you like some more formal training, then?

[It seems the proper thing to offer, given her position.]

[neverknight]

I appreciate the offer, but Obi-Wan has it covered. We're not from the same time period, but we do have history together.

[Brief though it might be.]

[seaoflight]

Good. That's good.

[He seems reliable, and that makes it a little easier on her, though leaving someone who wanted training unattended? Not an option.]

May I ask your name, by the way?

[neverknight]

Kanan. It's an honor, Master Sunrider.

[Wait... Master Sunrider? Now that does seem to click as something relevant to his memory. Though he's still not sure what.]

Vima would be your daughter, right? She seems like a good kid.

[seaoflight]

Please, just Nomi. Little call for formality right now.

[She brightens by orders of magnitude when he brings up her daughter.]

She is my daughter, yes. I do hope she hasn't given you much trouble. If she's anything like I was at her age, well...precocious isn't a strong enough word.

[Just Nomi suits him fine. He's a little out of practice with Jedi formality anyway.]

She's a teenager. Seems like they're all a handful, one way or another. [Which begs the question of why he and Hera ever took on two teenagers of their own...]

Fair enough.

[Nomi smiles fondly and nods with some finality.]
