[A woman in green looks down at the camera, red curls spilling over her face as she inspects it with a gentle, if somewhat unamused look in her eye. She got the briefing it seems, and she's not happy but shouting is only giving her captors what they want. Silent for a few moments, her head quirks to one side a fraction, a bit like a bird studying the ground.

Seeming to come to a conclusion, she nods to herself and finally speaks. Her tone is formal and polite, though there is an undercurrent of uncertainty. Would she be speaking to nobody?]

I understand I'm to be residing aboard this...fleet...and that these communication devices are how we connect with one another. And that means introductions.

[A breath as she seems to compose herself, pushing hair out of her eyes and smiling genially. Her moment of weakness and uncertainty was done.]

My name is Nomi Sunrider, currently of Coruscant. I believe I have an understanding of the basics of what happened, though I would appreciate information that our hosts have not provided. I'd also like to know more about you, whomever might be listening to this. There's little point in being whisked away to another...reality...[She grimaces around the words.] and not at least learning from the experience. [Best to be diplomatic, right?] A name, a favored story, anything. It'd be more worthwhile and significantly less maddening than this horrible canned music.

[Her eyes close, head swiveling slightly to the left as something catches her attention.]

And I feel a handful of individuals strong in the Force present here. I would appreciate it if you would contact me. [A deep, deep frown.] And tell me, why do I sense my daughter's presence?

[Oh, the poor man has no idea what he's in for. A fuddy-duddy like him might find her a little more human than the stories tell.

Her eyes brighten, sparkle even, when he announces himself and she gives the camera a radiant smile. Another Jedi was welcome, even if she was gathering that time-displacement was going to be a...thing...]

Greetings to you, Master Kenobi. A pleasure to speak with you. [A beat.]

Am I to understand you're one of the Jedi from a time after my own? Or is there some second Republic I should know about.

I hail from the New Republic, Master. At least four thousand years past your time.

[She bows in kind, just as low.]

Nomi, please. I'm not going to stand on unnecessary formality among Jedi.

[Especially not with someone who clearly holds a good deal more information than she does.]

Four thousand years, you say? My daughter mentioned time differences, but...that's...more than I was expecting.

I'm afraid so. Much has changed. I doubt there would be much familiarity beyond the planets that inhabit our galaxy.

Such as? I've heard some things from a few individuals, but I'd like to hear your thoughts on it as well.

[beardstrokes]

[ Hm. He considers his words carefully. ]

About the Jedi Order or the state of the galaxy?

A little of both. Since they're intertwined.

[beardstrokes]

Currently, we are at war with the Sith. Who have allied themselves with a group known as the Separatists - planets that have left the Republic.

Because of the Sith's involvement, we are called to fight in the war itself.

[seaoflight]

The Sith?

[She exhales, a hard heavy breath. That was what she was afraid of, when Hera told her about the state of her time.]

They survived then. [She swears an oath in a very, very dated dialect of Sullustan.] After...all of that, they survived.

[beardstrokes]

They survived.

[ It's said blithely. ]

They lay in wait until the time was ripe to act.

[seaoflight]

Then we failed.

[She says that quietly, acceptance in her words. Arguing it's impossible is pointless. He has no reason to lie to her, after all.]

The Republic did nothing?

[beardstrokes]

No. The Republic enjoyed four thousand years of peace. That is not failure.

[ Even though their fall is near again, Obi-Wan cannot - will not dismiss all that they did, all that happened.

Victory for all time will come. If Yoda believes it, then Obi-Wan will too. ]

The Republic is failing. For various reasons. To say they did nothing would be unfair, but it is mired in doubt, deceit and corruption.

[seaoflight]

[She will not refute the point, merely nodding, though her expression grows dour.]

I understand. It was...little better in our time, to be frank. It took Exar Kun appearing within the senate chambers to spur them to aid the Jedi against his crusade. But some time at peace is better than none.

[Her lip twitches.]

Politics. Money. Petty things, aren't they?

[beardstrokes]

[ In that, they can agree. ]

I'm afraid it's what motivates the people. Jedi can only guide. We cannot make them listen.

[ And their loyalty is to the Republic. ]

[seaoflight]

You're right in that. As much as we might wish at other times.

[Though that is something Nomi cannot agree on. Their loyalty is not to the Republic, but to the people of the Republic. She's from a time when every planet has one Jedi, a guardian and watcher.]

Have you been here long Obi-Wan?

[There she is, being informal again. She is the Decider.]

[beardstrokes]

[ It's the same for him. All the Republic, all the people. Obi-Wan doesn't pick and choose. ]

Nearly a month now, Master. Hardly a local at this point, but well-adjusted.

[seaoflight]

One of the benefits of being a starfarer already, I suppose.

[That she can say is a perk, at least.]

Have you had any difficulties with life? Trouble or attacks? I'm told I'm supposed to be a security officer, but against what I'm not even sure.

[beardstrokes]

[ He shakes his head. ]

Not that I know of. Certainly none have occurred during my time here.

[ The chaos of the Huntress notwithstanding, everyone behaves well enough not to merit Jedi intervention. ]

Some of the roles we have here are purely ceremonial.

[seaoflight]

[Nomi chuckles to herself.]

I wonder if I can change roles then. I'd rather have something to do.

[She's not the kind to sit idle. Ever.]

[beardstrokes]

If you can find the requisite paperwork, certainly. It shouldn't prove to be difficult.

[ Obi-Wan isn't a big fan of being a pilot, but someone needs to do it. ]

Has Visa given you any trouble?

[beardstrokes]

Vima? No, of course not. Why would she?

[ That question was odd - but then he remembers that Nomi was a mother. And that's the sort of question he would have asked if Anakin was here on his own.

She's delightful. A true credit to her training.

Because she's fourteen. And I remember myself at that age, though I was no Jedi or even an apprentice.

[Nomi laughs at that.]

But I'm glad to hear it. I am not entirely sure how I'd go about chastising a child I barely know. She was four...yesterday.

At least she's living up to her potential. Far better than myself at her age.
