[Again. Again. Zelos takes a good few minutes looking around before he decides that he's definitely been left behind in some way. Another handful of minutes pass, and he's tapping at the device meant to broadcast. If he's nearly alone up here, then he's just got to find out if there's anyone else out and about somewhere else, right?

Despite the stress he's feeling right now, the image that appears on screen to everyone is pretty upbeat. And pretty cocky, too.]

Yo! Looks like I missed out on the party. There's gotta be someone out there, right?

[He leans in a little closer for effect before sighing and pulling back, both arms raising in a shrug.] This is just my luck. Come on, give me a sign or something!

[Kaneis knows all too well about there being multiple dimensions, and multiple versions of a person. Because frankly, he had to deal with it every time someone showed up that knew him from somewhere]

[But to have one show up now? To actually deal with the thing that keeps haunting him in the flesh and bone? When he recovers from the shock, he buries his face into one of his hands that are propped up in the table out of sheer frustration. His braid hair slumps over his shoulder. His words come through gritted teeth]

Ugh, you gotta be kidding me-!

[Zelos is all too aware of the idea, as well. But still, to think of himself having multiple endings or paths out there, or to run into one of them? This is seriously too weird. His question was meant to verify that, hoping that this stranger would answer that he was someone who just shared the same face! He'd seen that, too.

But no. That reaction assures it. And slowly, his features fall into an unimpressed sort of half-scowl as he watches.]

Oh, don't be so dramatic. Your face looks terrible when you grumble like that.

[He pulls his face from his hand to give Zelos a disgruntled look. His tone is a mix of sarcastic and pissed. Because seriously, this guy being here? Crossed a line of some sort]

Wow. Like I really care.

Yeah, you're real charming.

[God, he hates this already. Every part of him is bristling, but he works to calm it down, straightening himself before he lets out a long and smooth sigh.]

Look, let's not make this any more awkward than it already is. You get any more of an explanation about this place than I did?

[Yep, he's in agreement about the hate. Seriously, it was like the universe was out to make sure his life was miserable and inescapable from the past]

And how would I know what explanation about this place you got?

[Though he's got a feeling that's like telling a fish not to swim at this point. He should know, right?] I wasn't told anything! That's why I'm asking.

This place is practically a ghost... ship. There's like, two other people here right now.

[He sighs. As tempting as it was to withhold information just for the hell of it, he knows it'd probably just cause more trouble for him later.]

Well you got the ship part right.

Couldn't tell you which ship you're on, but you've been abducted by something called Atroma. Apparently they grab people from all the different universes and put them on spaceships for some sort show called Drift Fleet.

Atroma, huh.... Yeah, right.

[It's mostly a mutter to himself as he takes a look around the area. It's brief, and soon enough he's jabbing a finger back at the video feed, head tilting.]

Wait a minute, did you get an introduction? Did I miss out on everything? [Or did he dig for it more successfully than him... Either way it annoys him.]

[Why was this guy making it sound like it was his fault he was late...?!]

Yeah, there was an announcement. I'm sure you can find it in the logs of the network if you wanna hear it that bad.

Great.

[Because everything is Kaneis' fault duh. But great... The network, huh. So they weren't very personable. That could still be Compass, just learning from their mistakes...]

Thanks, I guess. Still, I wasn't expecting to run into myself... [Trailing off into awkward silence. This is so lame.]

[Well, that statement makes Kaneis get an expression like he swallowed something gross.]

Alternate universes. It's not that unusual.

[Aka, you're not special asshole]

Now, now, I never said it was unusual.

[The shortness just feeds him to act like a bigger asshole, really. And he knows it, but, he doesn't really want to stop, either. Something's off about this more than just alternate universes, and he doesn't want to stick around to find out.

It's surprising to him that he can figure out how to do this perfectly (even with any experience), but he locks the channel, raising a hand in a half shrug.]

You're just the last face I want to see, right now. So do me a favor and stay out of my way, okay?

[Yeah he's- not really sure how it got set to private. But whatever, it's not like he cares that much if it's public or private. Because HEY, with this jerkwad here- it's only a matter of time before his cover's blown anyway]

[Which between that and what Zelos is saying now- oh, oh - that pisses him off]

Stay out of your way? Oh that's rich!

Look. I just wanna be left alone! It's your friends and now you that keep popping up and harassing me everywhere I go! [Okay sure, he doesn't know if this Zelos is even that Zelos BUT BUT STILL. It's close enough to count] So I'm pretty sure I'm the one who should be saying that!

Harassing you?

[He's pretty annoyed himself, but his tone is the signature whiney one he uses to mess around. Scoffing at the accusation, though, he waves it off visibly with a hand.] Please! I don't even know what you're talking about and I can tell you that's wrong!

My friends don't go around harassing people. If anything, they probably tried to break through with you, huh? I don't know where you differ from me, but if it didn't work, you must be thinking something wrong. [A lot of assuming going on here, but it's hard to help such a thing when he's speaking to a version of himself. He doesn't even know if this Zelos really means his friends, but he gets defensive all the same.] You didn't do anything stupid to any of them, did you?

[Kaneis's expression is still sour, but there's some visible tensing going on there. Did some of them break through? It feels like a couple might, but he...he isn't sure. All the faces and names are blurry. Along with any other person he might have regarded as a friend back there.]

[That had to have something to do with their tampering, right? There's no way he'd forget the very few friends he did make. At least, he'd hope he wouldn't...]

[But oh. That defensive question. He's sure in Exsilium he didn't, nothing beyond telling them to stay way. But back home...well...]

[Yep. He is just staying silent on this one. ]

[He hates that. Being ignored, like he isn't even there. He frowns a little, waiting a good few moments before deciding enough time has passed.]

Hey, are you gonna answer? I asked if you did anything to them.

Hm?

[Yep, sure is pretending like he just heard him now]

Your friends? Last I heard, they were alive and well.

[Which nope, doesn't answer the question much at all]

[God damn it. At that, he scowls, defensive and protective (and now wondering if this could somehow be the Zelos that Baroona knew... no. he refused).]

You know what? Forget about me. Stay away from any of my friends. I'm here now, so you shouldn't have to worry.

[Wow. He did not expect that to work so well. You're depressingly easy to manipulate Zelos. There's part of him that feels a bit sick that this guy thinks he was an actual threat to his friends.]

[But he can live with it. They were better off without him anyway, right? Especially if this guy was here. No more having people try to fill that hole with him, the shitty replacement. They can have their dear friend Zelos, he can be left to be forgotten - everyone wins.]

[And so, he goes with it- giving him a smirk]

Whatever. You go ahead and be their little keeper. Do that and I'll leave you all alone, just like you want.

Whatever. I doubt they want to be a part of your pity party, anyway.

[He ends the feed there, though, annoyed and bothered.]

[And he's fine with the feeding ending. Especially since it sounds like the guy won't be in any rush to contact him again. Good. Far as things like this could go, this seemed to have ended in his favor.]

[At least...maybe, anyway]

[Whatever. He's switching off the network. Might as well try to enjoy the tea before he has to deal with this stuff again]
