2nd Blight - video
Who: Riona and you!
Broadcast: Yes
Action: On the Blue Fish, if you really want
When: Now
[The device is propped up somehow on Riona's bed. It affords a view of her stretched out on said bed, fiddling with a long knife that she picked up on the station. It's sheathed, and she seems to be doing it just to occupy her hands. Don't worry, she's not about to go around threatening anyone with it.
She glances over at the camera and offers a smile.]
It occurred to me this morning that it's been approximately a month since I arrived here. Admittedly, it's put me in a bit of a contemplative mood. Been thinking of the usual: what I'm supposed to be doing right now back home, the people I left behind, my dog...
[She misses his slobbery kisses...]
But fear not, I'm not here to weigh everyone down with me waxing nostalgic and pining for home. As while I was doing that, it also occurred to me that I've learned quite a bit in the few weeks I've been here. Not just about all this technology and whatnot - though I am of the mind that refrigerators are one of the loveliest things ever invented - but with what I've been able to experience and, of course, the people I've been able to meet. Before anyone goes off, I'm not applauding Atroma. They're still a bunch of bastards. It's more like making the best of a... well, weird situation.
So I pose a question to you all: if there is one thing you could take back with you to your world - whether it's a physical object, an experience, a bit of knowledge you've gained, or so on - what would it be? Feel free to take the question as seriously or not as you'd like. I'm curious to see what all of you would be willing to take from our time here.

video;
[Might be time for a happier subject change.]
What of the peoples of your world? You listed quite a few I've never heard of, like... merpeople?
video;
Centaurs . . . they're half-horse, with a man's torso coming out. Very . . . mystical, I suppose you could say? I've heard they're best for predicting your future, if you can get one to actually pay you any mind, cos they know the stars better than we could ever read them. Not that I'm any good at reading the future anyway, but.
video;
You can... read the future in your world? By looking at stars? [wut]

But why tea leaves? I mean, we all touch many things throughout the day. And how do they touch your aura? [A beat.] What even is an aura?
[Have fun, Remus.]

[Professor Remus Lupin is a go. He doesn't have glasses, but he rather gains the air of pushing them up the bridge of his nose as he settles in.]
An aura is, essentially, you-- your essence, your presence. It's not something you can see, really, but-- well, I'm sure you've met people who come off as particularly menacing, or meek, or charismatic, all without them having said anything. That's an aura at work. You might be as magical as a rock, but you can sense it regardless.
Understand?
[That isn't meanly said; it's a real question-- he'll go on, if she needs him to.]
no subject
Mm, I think I understand what you mean now. It's that feeling you get from someone, essentially?
no subject
[Sort of. Close enough!]
The offer still stands, if you'd care to drink a cup of tea with me sometime.
no subject
Oh, I can't pass up a cup of tea, especially with such nice company. I'd love to, anytime you're free.

[He doesn't have much tea from the last planet they visited, but this is worth it. He brews it with some amusement-- he doesn't believe in Divination, not really, but it's fun to do for a lark.]
-> action?

[There's really nothing to offer in terms of biscuits, but he's got tea leaves, at least, so there's that. Remus has brewed them both some tea, though he hasn't poured it yet-- that's for when she sits. After all, if he's going to do this, he'll do it right.]
Come and sit. Now, you have to keep in mind I took this class ten years ago.
no subject
[Not said in a judgmental tone. More awed, if anything. Magic is kept within the Circles and the handful of apostates outside of them where she's from, and it's almost never talked about openly. She knew nothing of it until she traveled with Morrigan and Wynne.
She does as he instructs and takes a sit. Despite her mild skepticism, she's actually kind of excited to see what happens. Her legs swing from her chair as she rests her hands on the table.]
And even if you have not taken it in awhile, I know nothing of it so I will likely be impressed anyway.
no subject
[Said with a smile, and he pours her the tea.]
Right. Now drink your tea and think of your past-- where you're from, what you've gone through-- and your future, where you'd like to go.
[He doesn't even try to sound mystic; he'll just sound idiotic.]

She thinks of Highever, and her home in Castle Cousland with her family. Of her family's slaughter and her narrow escape, which wound up with her joining the Grey Wardens. Of meeting Alistair and the doomed Battle of Ostagar. She remembers the friends she met and made on her journey during the Blight as she tried to amass an army to make up for the one lost at Ostagar. Then there was the Landsmeet, and the Battle of Denerim shortly thereafter, when she slew the Archdemon and the Blight ended.
Suddenly she gulps and almost chokes, having gotten too lost in her thoughts for awhile.]

[He tips his head. Her expression had gone still and serious, and despite himself he wonders what she's thinking about. They all seem to have traumatic pasts in some form or another, and suddenly he wishes he hadn't said that, about thinking on your past.]
If you want to give me your cup-- or we could forget about this, it's stupid--
no subject
[She smiles kindly as she pushes the cup towards him.]
I'll admit, the whole concept is still a little strange to me, but I wouldn't call it stupid. If you're still willing, I'd like to see how it works.
no subject
[Gently, he takes the cup and squints at it. Mm, let's see, and how much does he even remember . . .]
Well, you've got a house-like shape, which means changes are coming. A half-circle, that's a hint that introspection is needed. There are specs of tea, that's you'll be busy soon. And-- ah, a sun, which means fire and heat are your friends right now.
So. There you have it.
no subject
[Yet she seems hardly bothered as she smiles.]
Thank you, Remus. That was fun.
no subject
[He grins at her, shy but pleased she's pleased.]
Honestly, I like using my abilities like this-- to make people happy. It's a nice change.

[...okay, debatable in many cases. But not in this one!]
I envy you that a little. That you have something like magic to use for a multitude of things.
