When: sometime... when they're in range of the planet... after whenever the waystation mingle goes up...?

[She'll take a look at the spa later - after slowly going a little stir-crazy on the ship, Hange wouldn't close herself in another building (no matter how luxurious) by choice.

Now, just as she's been, she prowls and paces along the edge of the forest, looking in. She looks excited: her eyes wide, pupils dilated, grinning absentmindedly. The movement never quite stops. The whoops and cries of distant birds or other, more alien things; the smell of wet ground and the rustle of leaves... it's like home, just like home, just like being at home, all she needs is her 3DMG and her horse and her squad. If only.

Hange will head in soon. She's seen that path and - it could be a trap, but her nature is way too direct to pass up so courteous an invitation. Soon enough...]

[By the time he wants to slap it back she's already pulling the gun up. He's safe. She's looking at him looking - kind of horrified?]

Make some noise, kiddo.

[he sighs and throws his arms into an exasperated shrug, still rattled with adrenaline. and then he rolls right into calling her something-- making a face and flicking his middle fingers like he's got something on his hands. his version of snapping a retort back at her.]

[Ah, well, fine. She switches her gun back to rest over her shoulder and starts signing at him. It's all spelled out and slow, but clearly formed.]

Spell it.

[the lift of his chin is probably acknowledging the fact that she's gotten better with signing. he wonders if she's just been practicing, or if someone else has been helping.

fine, he'll spell it, but at his own speed. 'T-O-U-C-H-Y']

[Both, really - "someone." Who could that someone be.

She's calming herself down, forcibly. Usually she's better about this... attacking Coil was a slip of her temper. They're planetside now, in the open air - in her element, in a sense. Got to calm down.

Mellowly, she signs back at him. Maybe she got a lot of that, maybe she got some of it, either way she's signing in one gesture: "slowly."]

[ah, yeah. Zhas must be teaching her. he... actually doesn't know how he feels about that. there's a nebulous feeling about it somewhere in there.

he'll think about it later.

for now, he'll just repeat the spelling a little more slowly, and follow it up with just as heartfelt of a sign as the first time he'd formed it.]

[He can feel however he feels. She won't interfere with that.

Hange squints, and then mirrors the sign back at him, doing a good job of it.]

Touchy.

[he nods. and points at her, bringing up his original point again.]

[She shrugs.]

Don't tell me you don't feel it, kiddo. It's been too long on that ship! [And none of them are suited to it. Not Zhas, not her, not Coil. Maybe Garak, but probably not him either.]

[he shrugs too, even though she's totally right. and he rolls his shoulders all the way, a moment later. need to work out that adrenaline and loosen things up again, let the small fright roll off of him.]

[Teenagers. Ah, well.]

Anyway, I'm going to head out into the woods shortly. Crewmates welcome.

[he gives the sign for again--one that she's probably been taught, if Zhas has been coaching her--and follows it up with a question mark.]

Until I figure out as much as I can about this place.

[So, again, yes.]

[for a minute, he looks back toward the ship, where Zhas presumably still is.

but he's not considering bringing him with, or wondering if there's something else he should be doing. he's really making sure that the skullfaced man is not following.

and then he nods.]

[It's her turn to consider something. She watches the kid narrowly.]

Do you know how to use a gun, kiddo?

[--ugh he makes a face and shakes his head no.

well, he might know how to use one, but he's anticipating that she's asking for a reason, and he's preemptively refusing.]

... If you're coming out with me for a second round, bring one.

[...and, again, he shakes his head.

that would be a no.]

If we run into a titan, and it's real, your best bet for survival under those circumstances are to blind it and then flee.

[he nods. and then places a hand to his chest--the sign for my--and then spells out p-r-o-b-l-e-m.]

[She squints for a second, and then -]

I disagree. As captain of the ship, it's also my problem.

[he sighs... and this is apparently a big enough deal to him that he bothers to unzip his sweatshirt and fetch the electronic tablet from where it's kept pocketed away inside.

give him a minute to write a few neat words across its surface, and he turns it to show her.]

'No blades.

No bullets.'

Why not?

[he just shakes his head again, resolute. at least he's not being snappy and short-tempered about it.]

Kiddo, I'm not willing to go along with you if you're not prepared to shoot to defend yourself against something like that.
