Log 002 | Video + Action - Can't Kick Those Old Habits
Who: Jim Kirk & Anyone
Broadcast: Yes, fleet-wide
Action: On the space station
When: Feb. 14 (or any other day you want to work out for the action)
[ Video ]
Okay, so I think I have the money situation figured out here.
We get money by being popular on this "show" and being "ranked" -
[ Can everyone hear his continued disbelief of this load of crap they are being fed, but fine he's playing along for the time being. ]
But we can also get it on the station by offering to do work. Am I right? Which, by the way, just seems like it's adding insult to injury.
So aside from my making a cardboard sign and tacking it up in the space station, I'll set it out here too - I'm generally good with technology and fixing things in general, so if you ever need anything fixed I'm more than happy to get whatever it is you need running again for a fair price.
And if anyone has a recommendation on someplace to get good, cheap clothes on this station, I'd appreciate it. And real food.
[ He can only live so long between his uniform and the gray jumpsuit and replicated food items. That buffet on the Blue Fish ruined him to early. There are limits. ]
[ Action ]
[ As he said, he made his way down to the space station to see if he can drum up some business and start earning some cash. He hates being a free loader or being put on charity - he just hates being non-useful in general and he's terrible at sitting around and doing nothing. Besides, job hunting might also come with info hunting, so it's two birds with one stone in a sense. So off to find a job and some food that hasn't been replicated. It never tasted the same, no matter how much the product might say otherwise.
One really should not be surprised to see him chatting someone up, male, female, green, tailed, scaled ,or otherwise. It might be equally common for him to be getting slapped, and there's about a 65% chance of catching him in the midst of a bar fight if you find him later in the evening, or leaving in the company of someone. He did mention he had a reputation to keep up, and everyone needed some outlet for dealing with their situation. This was his.
He will try not to look to chagrinned making his way back to the ships come the morning though... ]
[ ooc: feel free to hit him up anywhere on the station as he will literally be going around every inch of it. And by all means, be the one being hit on, or just interrupt his night/morning because he's made poor life choices somewhere along the way! ]

[ She smiles. ]
Have you been finding work here?
Re: action;
I guess Atroma's not as foolish as I thought.
[ It's a bad attempt at humor, but it's a go of it. ]
Eh, work enough. I think I can afford a new shirt now. How about you? Or is that giving away trade secrets?
action;
Re: action;
Ah, merchants. They don't change no matter where you go in the universe, it seems.
Have you got some free time? We could go grab some coffee.
[ He grinned, remembering their past conversation about the beverage. ]
action;
[ Hm. A tempting offer. Oh, why not? Kirk seems like a reasonable sort of guy. He could make a good ally. ]
Sure, I don't have anything else planned for the afternoon. There's a nice coffee shop just around the corner from here, too.
Re: action;
It does seem to be key for most cultures I've come across, especially on a galactic stage.
[ Not all, but most. There were a few planets with the Federation that were largely insular and kept to themselves. ]
Really? Great. Hopefully they sell some of the beans in packages too. Never hurts to keep up on the emergency supply, right?
action;
So, are you as anxious to get home as I am?
Re: action;
Oh, you have no idea. I was about to set off on a mission back home. Waking up to a strange ceiling was really not how I wanted to start this adventure.
[ He sighed and shook his head. ]
I guess if there is one good thing to come out of this, it's at least getting to meet all these different people and learn about all these different cultures. Gives me something to look forward to when I finally get back to my ship and we set off properly.
What about you?
action;
[ She likes that. She's one, too, so it works for her. ]
I also have some important things to do back home. But I'm afraid some risks will have to be taken to get out of here.
[ Just, you know. Testing the waters here. ]
Re: action;
When you think negatively, you think like a defeatist. And defeatist don't make it very far in my line of work.
[ He nodded to her at that. ]
There's always a risk inherent in escape, I find. The trouble is finding a risk acceptable for everyone, which I haven't been here long enough to judge.
[ He wanted to get out, and he wanted to get everyone else that wanted to get out with him. But he would need to find a method with an amount of acceptable risk. On any mission a life could be lost, he knew, but that hardly made it acceptable, did it? At any rate, he wanted a method that did not involve something like an 80% chance of death or recapture, which he simply did not have the resources for at the moment. ]
action;
[ She glances sidelong at Kirk. ]
Someone has to take those initial risks, after all.
Re: action;
[ He looked to her and nodded. ]
I wouldn't mind getting in on some of that. It's always best to get as much first hand experience as you can when it comes to facing a problem, I feel. And one more head can only be beneficial, right?

I'm glad to hear it. Don't be surprised when I come knocking on your door, asking for your help with something, then.

I think I'll be more disappointed if you don't, Hera.
[ He flashes a grin. ]

Flattery will get you - well, it might get you somewhere.

[ Adorable? Been awhile since he's been called that. But he does try. ]
That's better than nowhere so I'll take it.

One of those, huh? Patience is a good trait to have, in my experience.
