Log 002 | Video + Action - Can't Kick Those Old Habits
Who: Jim Kirk & Anyone
Broadcast: Yes, fleet-wide
Action: On the space station
When: Feb. 14 (or any other day you want to work out for the action)
[ Video ]
Okay, so I think I have the money situation figured out here.
We get money by being popular on this "show" and being "ranked" -
[ Can everyone hear his continued disbelief of this load of crap they are being fed, but fine he's playing along for the time being. ]
But we can also get it on the station by offering to do work. Am I right? Which, by the way, just seems like it's adding insult to injury.
So aside from my making a cardboard sign and tacking it up in the space station, I'll set it out here too - I'm generally good with technology and fixing things in general, so if you ever need anything fixed I'm more than happy to get whatever it is you need running again for a fair price.
And if anyone has a recommendation on someplace to get good, cheap clothes on this station, I'd appreciate it. And real food.
[ He can only live so long between his uniform and the gray jumpsuit and replicated food items. That buffet on the Blue Fish ruined him to early. There are limits. ]
[ Action ]
[ As he said, he made his way down to the space station to see if he can drum up some business and start earning some cash. He hates being a free loader or being put on charity - he just hates being non-useful in general and he's terrible at sitting around and doing nothing. Besides, job hunting might also come with info hunting, so it's two birds with one stone in a sense. So off to find a job and some food that hasn't been replicated. It never tasted the same, no matter how much the product might say otherwise.
One really should not be surprised to see him chatting someone up, male, female, green, tailed, scaled ,or otherwise. It might be equally common for him to be getting slapped, and there's about a 65% chance of catching him in the midst of a bar fight if you find him later in the evening, or leaving in the company of someone. He did mention he had a reputation to keep up, and everyone needed some outlet for dealing with their situation. This was his.
He will try not to look to chagrinned making his way back to the ships come the morning though... ]
[ ooc: feel free to hit him up anywhere on the station as he will literally be going around every inch of it. And by all means, be the one being hit on, or just interrupt his night/morning because he's made poor life choices somewhere along the way! ]

How good exactly? Because I've heard of good technicians and yet, things tend to blow up in their proximity.

[ That he has been working on. Have things blown up around him? Absolutely. But they were not his fault - directly, anyways. ]
I'm good enough to tinker with most things, I can do some programming. I'm no genius, but practical applications I can handle just fine.
[ If by practical you mean altering a test program, then yeah, he can handle it just fine, but oh no one needs to know that, right? ]

She had meant to stop and inspect a fruit stand, happy that there was food other than the awful gloomy substitute aboard the Caprine, when he caught her attention.]
Kirk. We meet in person at last.
[And she was glad for it. She had wondered what ship he'd been sent to, as it hadn't been her own. She was settling in well enough with the crew on the Caprine but it certainly wasn't home. Getting a good look at him he was taller and had broad shoulders, just as she imagined from seeing him on the video.]
Re: action;
[ He had come out in his uniform, so he was dressed in the bright, almost canary yellow of the command class and his black pants and boots. By and far they were more comfortable than the gray thing they had been given as an extra, even if they did somewhat scream uniform in their design. But they were a piece of home and he would rather be with them than without.
He turned when he heard his name, having bought something that looked similar to an apple but the seller assured him had a more bitter taste. Well, all he could do was try. He smiled widely at seeing Danny, his entire face lighting up and he sketched a bow to her as he had on video feed. ]
Your highness! A pleasure to see you again - and indeed in person. You're looking lovely as the day we met.

Nice of you to join us.

I heard we got a new guy but I've been busy with work. Why don't we talk for a little while?
Re: action;
[ Kirk? Sneaking places? Perish the thought Varric. He smiles though and takes the offering, nodding his thanks. ]
At least one of us has had luck with work. I'm guessing you're Varric?
[ He's pretty sure she's met everyone else and let's be real - he doesn't look like a Jeffery. ]
action;
When she spots Captain Kirk she gives him a faint smile and a nod, and quickly wraps up her business. ]
Hi, there. Settling in okay?
Re: action;
[ He spots the familiar green form he smiles back, giving a mock salute in return as he saunters up, keeping back long enough for her to finish her business and not impede upon it. When she finishes he comes close enough to hear her question and shrugs his shoulder in way of initial reply. ]
As all right as anyone can in the situation. I managed to figure out the coffee maker, so I think I'll be all right all things considered.
[ He grins, but he might actually be serious. Coffee is important, okay? Bones had wanted him to lay off the alcohol during his recovery, and it took so much more of it to get drunk now anyways even when he wanted to. ]

I think anything can be an upgrade from the gray jumpsuit at this point. Even a little bit of color would be welcome. Or just some jeans.

(OOC: Let me know if anything isn't okay! It can also just be the 16th maybe? I'm flexible.)
Re: [acition]
[ Things happened - he understood. Besides, he had been spending that time settling in and trying to drum up an immediate cash flow, so he had been busy himself. In his defense he had not started this fight. No smart remarks, he had just been chatting with a nice young lady when one of her overly protective male friends took exception. And maybe he had made a smart remark. But still, not his fault. He blinks when the man goes down, looking up to Kitty and giving her an impressed look. ]
Good thing you were here to teach him his manners. Maybe we should get out of here before he has to go to remedial courses?

[Action]
It was a little too much to hope this was the same one Remy knew form Luceti, but it was nice to see the other man around. Even if he was in the middle of getting slapped, and Remy gave a sympathetic cringe at the action, having been on the receiving end himself many a times. Taking up a second drink, Remy headed his way over to him,] Now that, that looked like a real stinger. [Before offering the drink out to him.] Here, might help numb it.
Re: [Action]
[ Alas, Remy, he isn't the Kirk you knew of old from Luceti. Maybe he might once have been, but if that was so his memories of the place had long been forgotten, and any trace of wings removed. That, and he was a full year older now too, and had some inked additions beneath his shirt.
The slap hurt, but he supposed he was due for one. It had been awhile since he'd fumbled so badly. In a strange way, it was a tiny bit refreshing. It would get boring if he managed to close everything all the time, when he thought about it. He glanced over when Remy approached, giving him a quick once over as his charming smile slid into place, taking the drink he offered. ]
Yeah, she definitely had one hell of a wrist on her. I think that one might actually bruise come morning.
[ It wouldn't, not anymore, but he liked to pretend he was still entirely normal most days. ]
Jim Kirk, by the way. Thanks for the medicine.
[ He waggled the drink. ]

[action] sorry in advance
Well, not Kirk specifically, but rather the woman he's been buying drinks for and slowly schmoozing over the period of about two hours. It seems he's finally succeeded in getting her to agree to extend their socialization into the morning hours -- no doubt in some seedy hotel or another -- if the fact that they're both getting up from the bar is any indication.
And as soon as they step outside, ready for a great night, Kirk's date suddenly crumples to the ground like a stone. One good blow to the neck is all it had taken, with Sasuke taking the hit in a casual lightning-quick pass. The true ninja way. To add insult to injury, he's not even looking up as he leans down to rifle through her purse, seeming unconcerned with the whispering of passersby-- ah, here it is. A small metal case matching the description he'd been given.
Sorry to cockblock you so incredibly badly, bro. At least he's finally glancing up as he straightens, literally just leaving her body on the ground. ]
Are you responsible for her?
Re: [action] sorry in advance
[ For a brief second all Kirk can do is look at the girl suddenly crumpled on the ground and then at Sasuke, taking a moment to process the ridiculous thing that had just happened. Of course, once he had, bright blue eyes sharpened and darkened like encroaching storms. He had never wished for his phaser more - he would be dropping this asshole with the highest stun setting he had. ]
What the hell do you think you're doing?
[ He reaches to try and snatch the metal case, having come to the conclusion that Sasuke was the more immediate threat but had not used quite lethal force on the girl. She was breathing, but he needed to deal with this guy first. ]

victim object of affection. ]Fancy meeting you here, Ciri. Care for a drink?

Heh, I know I spend most of my life in basically one outfit, but at least I have several to rotate out and change into over the course of the week.
I'm no fashionista, but I do like options when I'm in my civvies.

I may have a project for you, if you're willing to take on a particularly difficult challenge.
Re: video; hope this is okay!
[ Celeste will get a grin in return, both from the fact she's rather pretty and that is a reason to smile as well as the idea of a challenge. Kirk loves a good challenge (or a fight, but you could consider those challenges really). ]
Never been scared of a challenge, miss. What's the project?
